First I would like to start off that this was my 4th time visiting the RIU Resorts. It was so dissapointing. Upon arrival we noticed the hotel was being renovated and we were not notified. I know Orbitz usually advises their clients ahead of time of this, so I figured you should be aware. My boyfriend and I saved up all our money to go and celebrate our anniversary. We upgraded our room to have a tub indoor and a jacuzzi on the balcony. The tub in the room was not clean. The jacuzzi tub on the balcony was not even in any condition to be rented. Rusty and filthy. I asked the housekeepr the following morning if she can please clean the tub and jacuzzi and was told yes. None were done. There was a closet on the balcony, which I assumed might have cleaning products. Once I opened the door I was greated by a rodent the size of a cat. I immedialtely closed the door. This was all so dissapointing and the only reason we got this room and paid extra was for the jacuzzi and balcony. The hotel should not be renting out this room with the condition the jacuzzi was in. I have used your company many times in the past, and I know this is not the quality you give your clients. I wanted to be sure to bring this to your attention as the quality and service of the RIU Resorts are not the same. Hopefully on our next trip we get our moneys worth but if I can help anyone avoid wasitng their money I would. I wanted to give Orbitz the respect of contacting you direcetly and not blasting this online.
Need more food choices and however I really enjoyed myself n would stay there again
I went with a group of eight people and we had a wonderful time! You could tell that the hotel was a bit dated but it was pretty clean and well maintained. The wifi service is not great, you have to stay in the lobby to get any service unless you upgrade to get wifi in your room. This wasn't a huge deal because it was a nice excuse to disconnect from the world for a week. The entertainment crew was AMAZING!!!! There were performances each night and daily activities on the beach and at the pool. I enjoyed the food at the buffet, especially the breakfast selection. The other restaurants were kind of a pain to eat at because they only had two seating times so you had to go at those certain times to eat and stand in line. They had a delicious jerk hut, where they served jerk chicken and other meats. This was great for a snack or lunch when we didn't want to leave the beach to eat. Overall I would definitely recommend this resort if you are looking to have a great time, like to dance, and enjoy great entertainment! :)
We were able to see many other hotels in Jamaica since we were picked up by a bus both ways and had to stop at various hotels to drop off and pick up..Our hotel was by far the most impressive. Before the trip many complained about the long ride from the airport to the hotel but since we had a new a/c bus I considered it as a nice tour of Jamaica.
Just came back and our experience there was fabulous. Food was excellent the workers there were great especially squidward he was awesome. Will definitely be going back....
Would defenitly stay again. Staff was great, rooms were nice and clean. Food was okay
Hotel was very good with a friendly staff. We really enjoyed the onsite snorkeling, however I would recommend you bring your own snorkel gear. We had to wait 5 hours one day as all their gear had been checked out. They do not provide swim fins, nor are they available to purchase in their swim shop. You should wear footwear when in the water. Also, you should check out your beach towel early in the day, as they run out of them before noon. We spent most of our time snorkeling, but also enjoyed the kayaks and Paddle boats. We really wanted to try the water crafts with sails, but we had some very windy days and were inexperienced with the sail crafts. With that in mind, the life guards were very alert & fast to the rescue if they thought anyone was in need of assistance. We loved the meals at St. John's, but the buffets and bar drinks were very good. The rooms were a good size.
Needs a complete upgrade...only thing I enjoyed was the drinks good and the staff was ver nice....but the rooms buildings needs an upgrade yesterday
Hotel staff was great, food and drinks plentiful, weather cooperated for the most part, wonderful island with great people. Looking forward to another RIU trip.

Love this place and would return in a heartbeat. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The Riu is a very nice resort ..... at times the up keep of the grounds could've been a little better as empty cups were piled up for days, but otherwise the food, entertainment and staff was all great!
Everything about the hotel was great except for the food. The meals were very disappointing.
This is my second time staying at this hotel and is a big improviment in the food and many Changes has made Riu will always be my vacation stay when visit Jamaica from now on .
Even in the face of Hurricane Matthew, the staff was very professional and courteous.
stayed from 8/26/16 to 9/3/16. from the moment of our arrival our experience was wonderful except for our check in which was a little slow. need more help at the front desk. after our check in everything was perfect. great food, great and friendly staff. amazing activities. cannot be bored at this resort. my 4th trip and planning my 5th one already. a big shout out to Pim and the entertainment crew.
Third time in this resort but is time for a change
Nice hotel, one fault the elevator need to be air-conditioned though.
Excellent stay. Will definitely go back. Clenched environment. Fun excursions, entertainment was good. Delicious food and excellent customer service. Friendly atmosphere.
I attended a beach wedding at Riu Ocho Rios and it was my 2nd time vacationing at this location. The wedding was beautifully done. The planner really did a nice job with everything; decorations, music, dinner, Officiant... all outstanding. The room smelled a bit mildew, but that could have been due to it being so humid and on the ground floor, close to the beach and pool. The buffet had so many delicious varieties for breakfast and dinner that we didn't even venture into the Ala carte restaurants. There were always plenty of lounge chairs in the shade by the pool and beach even though it was high season and pretty crowded. The Pachea Nightclub was popping and the DJ played some dope music. He had everyone partying until the wee hours. The swim-up bar on the Gold side was great and the bartenders, attenitive. I tipped whenever I had money on me. All the staff appreciated the tips, but were helpful even if you didn't. From 2-4:30 or 5, the jerk hut on the beach is grilling up jerk chicken w/ mild and spicy sauces on the side and sausage.
