The rooms were small,things didnt work,pool closed at 7 or 8 who knows as 2 different people couldnt be on same page,food is very expensive ,valet very expensive and the rooms were old .
I think the hotel should have microwave in the rooms.

My 5th floor “ocean view” room was quite disappointing for several reasons. (1) for most of my four day stay there were “wet floor“ signs and carpet drying fans in the hall just outside my door indicating some type of prior water mishap. Not that big of a deal at the time, but ultimately became part of a larger, more troubling pattern. (2) While the ocean could indeed be viewed in the distance, immediately below my room was a large complex of unsightly empty concrete pools with peeling paint sorely in need of repair or demolition, of which there was no evidence whatsoever. While I thought I’d booked a room in an upscale property, this one had a very sad, third world feel to it. (3) The room’s wooden floors appeared clean enough, but in fact were so dirty that after walking on them barefoot my feet would soil the white sheets and shower water ran dark from them. (Outside the room I wore tennis shoes, so this was the only explanation.) (4) One night I awoke to go to the bathroom and found myself walking through a pool of water from a dripping overhead vent. I would have called to report it, but the room had no phone. I used bath towels to dry the pooling water and placed a waste basket under the dripping water, lined with a wash cloth to quiet the “plop, plop” noise. Beyond these disappointments, I found the National Hotel location good, the staff courteous, the food well prepared, the hotel common areas nice, and beach access excellent.
Our stay at The National Hotel has exceeded expectations. So often we see photos and hear about the experience but you have to take it with a grain of salt. Not here. The room is great. The photos depict exactly what it is and the restaurant is amazing. Truly delicious. 10/10 from us.

Great place to stay, staff was excellent, walk out the back right to the beach or simply stay at the hotel and enjoy the pool area with bar and kitchen right there.

Property is a hidden gem. The hotel is beautiful. Amenities are fabulous and the staff is outstanding. Down side...noisy. Really really noisy from the pub across the street, the hotel next door and the hotel just down the street. Although the bed is super comfy, you wont get any sleep.
