The room smell moldy, the bathroom had a sewage smell and not enough towels in the room.
Bad and greedy hotel. Worst hotel in south beach. You can do better with any other hotel there. Staff and maids acted like they didnt get paid enough to care, floor behind bed had not been swept in weeks, staff acted bored and barely paid attention when I had a question, key cards did not work and staff kept thinking I was not swiping it correctly. But the worst thing was the additional charge of $85.50 when I arrived at the property which was totally out of nowhere and undisclosed on the orbitz listing. I am currently disputing the charge. I have never had this kind of additional charge, in south beach, or anywhere. AVOID
Check in was an hour late - chaotic. No staff at actual hotel - they were across the street. Pretty dirty common areas.
DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THE HOTEL SHELLEY! YOU WILL GET CHARGED FEES NO ONE TOLD YOU YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY! Undisclosed "resort fees" $199.50 for a week. Orbitz did nothing to warn us of these resort fees and they did not defend our position when we complained. The TV channels were static, maybe 10 channels came in. The floor was infirm and uneven. We had to ask for toilet paper, towels, and ice across the street. The door lock didn't work most of the time, locking us out. No elevator in a 3-story "hotel". First cleaning was not until we had stayed for 3 days and they didn't even clean the bathroom. They made the bed. The bed was rickety and uncomfortable. The curtains were stained by something brown. Stay somewhere that discloses their fees. We've stayed in some cheap hotels and this was by far the worst. I'm sorry that I stayed at the Hotel Shelley.

Had to change rooms because the bed fell in as soon as I sat down. Very small rooms and no elevator. Still waiting on my deposit.
Agent didn't opened the front door to me because he didn't trust me that I had a reservation because I arrive late (my flight was delayed). Bathroom had long hairs in the sink and shower, so it wasnt properly cleaned. Windows courtains dirty. Bed sheets has some dirt in the corners. I made an early check out because I was sick with vomits and fever, had to change my flight to same day I arrived (I only stayed here for about 9 hours and had a 3 night booking), they refused to Orbitz to give me back a refund, at least as courtesy. I come at least 7 times a year to Sotuh Beach, never coming back to this or any South Beach group Hotels.
They gave us a room that didn’t have a key, so we had to be let in by a staff member anytime we needed to get in our room. We would come into the lobby and no one would be there, so we would have to wait a long time for a staff member to show up to let us in
It’s non quality hotel,I’m not saying any bad things but, you’ll get what you pay! Every noon a person comes without knocking the door properly, you could be naked or doing something, they open the door to count snack-bar! Be ready for unexpected surprises. Other than that it’s close to the beach. That’s the only benefit I see. If you have enough budget go away, but if your budget low than its ok.
We booked one night last December 28th until the 29th for our anniversary. I’ve been staying at your hotel and at the Chesterfield for around 16 years. This opportunity we had a really bad and dangerous situations!! Our flight was delayed so we got to the hotel at 2:15am “late check in” my cousin gave us a ride because he lives in Miami and was safer for us, at the moment he parked outside the hotel to download our bags and drop us off. A young girl with a bikini who was along with the valet parking guy from the hotel got to our car right away and asked if we were going to park our car, we weren’t sure what she wanted, we didn’t think she worked for the hotel due to her appearance and her aggressive attitude hitting our car window because she wanted us to open them. We didn’t and she got angry I finally lowered the window and told her that we just were there to check in and the she threatened is that if weren’t nice to here we would be able to check in at all.!! Meanwhile the valet guy didn’t do anything so I assumed she worked there!! We were scared due her aggressive attitude physical and verbal towards us. You’re free to check the footage from your security cameras I’m giving you the time and date of the incident! We processed to check in the front desk man took 45 minutes to do so due an issue with the computers we were at the lobby after 3am!!! We asked about the lady outside and he told us she was a transsexual hooker who was always around and well known, never stay

They do not disclose that there is no elevator in hotel until after check in, and “only rooms available were on the third floor” for people with bad knees its less than pleasing.

Hello Thomas, thank you for your review. Resort fees are common in Miami Beach and our hotel charges a mandatory 25, plus tax, nightly resort fee. This should have been listed on your third party website with a breakdown of the price. We understand this was not the best start to your stay, but we appreciate all feedback.

We are a historic, art-deco hotel that was built in the 1930's, but we consistently renovate our property with modern finishes and touches while preserving the Miami beach structure. Please let the staff know when anything is unsatisfactory, so we can assist with getting it corrected. Please consider us again when you are back in Miami.
