Castle Poipu Shores , a Condominium Resort

Ocean front was amazing, pool great, nice bbqs. Only negative for property would be front desk didnt tell us that we had housekeeping service every other day and they supplied things like paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags so we went and bought the supplies our first day which we didnt need

We actually got moved to a much nicer unit on our second day. I was so happy with how fast they were able to respond to our feedback about our first unit. The new unit was beautiful! The views at this resort were amazing! The swimming pool was really warm and my children spent so much time there. We had a great stay!

No AC! We had the only unit without air conditioner and were not told this at time of booking. We should have been told. All the other units had a AC. Very uncomfortable. Hard to sleep at night.

We had a great time at Poipu Shores on our honeymoon. The location is quiet, right on the water and you could see turtles from our balcony. It was a nice location where you could walk to Poipu Beach and enjoy the sunset. The condo was plenty spacious for two people and the kitchen was a great advantage over a traditional hotel.

We booked one week through Orbitz. I had my eye on these condos since I wanted ocean-front accommodations. I found a discounted rate on Orbitz and booked it. Now, from my research it seemed like different units may be different quality in terms of how updated or posh they are, or how good the view is, and I did not get a specific room number, and I got it on a discount, so I thought I might have a "bargain basement" condo, but it was actually very spectacular, room 307A, with ocean views out two sides. The crashing waves are really amazing, and the spray from the waves sometimes reaches the swimming pool. The pool itself was very nice and relaxing, and not too crowded even in mid-June. I was worried the condo might not have a lot of kitchen gear I'm used to, but it actually may be more decked out than my own kitchen (has a better blender than me). I did not mind the lack of a/c in mid-June. The fans are good enough to keep you cool, and we were usually out at the pool or a beach in the middle of the day anyway. It's a pretty easy walk to Poipu Beach (but an even easier drive). I had no issues with the place at all, and it exceeded my expectations. There may be nicer places to stay on Kauai, but I'm not sure there are any at this price point.

The condo - we had 202A, was very comfortable. Location is best possible, right on the shore. 5 min walk to Poipu shore beach park.

We had one of the most relaxing best vacations we have ever had!!! we usually go on cruises but this time we wanted more time on shore and a bigger room and we had it all !!!! The room 203A is the one we want again when we come back it was not as bag as out home nut it was a delight to stay their and had everything we needed for a delightful stay !!! I have already recommended it already to man friends...We hope to be coming back again soon !!!!

Fantastic location, 30 feet from the ocean waves hitting the lava shore. You can see the large sea turtles swimming and enjoy the pool hanging out into the ocean. Just a 10 minute stroll to Poipu beach where you can swim and snorkel and play in the sand. Good restaurants and shopping in the area. If you visit Kauai in the winter - Poipu is much dryer than the north shore

We had beautiful sunset views. The only downer is that the pool was not heated and there was no hot tub. We were within walking distance of two beautiful, calm beaches.

This is a stunning complex not only on the ocean, but all but in it. as it sits on a rocky point into the water. Waves crash in spouts of water that are thrilling all the time. The condo itself is excellent. Simple design, yet of great quality throughout. The staff was excellent. I couldn't have been more impressed with my experience.

Fantastic - got in late and the staff left detailed instructions on how to get the room key. While the condo is definetly in need of some updates, the location could not be better. It's right on the ocean and you can fall asleep each night to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below. Poipu Beach is a 2 minute walk away and there are restaurants and bars within walking distance as well. The appliances all worked well and there were pots and pans and all that so you can save a coiple of bucks by eating meals in (the grocery store is about 5 minutes away by car). We did not deal with the staff much but when we did they were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again , no question. For what the place lacks in amenities it more than makes up with location and ambiance provided by the ocean.

We had a great time. The view and the crashing waves made it difficult to leave. We had been to other parts of Kauai before so we had seen a lot of the island already. This trip was totally relaxing and wonderful. The condo was great and the owners left many interesting notes for people who rent their place. They seem like nice people.

The location was great as was the view. The condo was very tired. No dishwasher and the hot water was only warm. All the fixtures had rust and corrosion. The DVD player did not work. Parking was limited and very tight. I travel 40 weeks a year so I have much experience. The beds were the hardest and most uncomfortable I have seen in all of my travels. I slept on the couch for the full stay. The outdoor grills would not light. I tried 4 different ones. The Chocolate tour was great. I recommend that trip.

CONDO WAS PERFECT. EVERYTHING AVAILABLE FOR THE STAY. LOCATION ABOVE CRASHING WAVES LULLED US TO SLEEP EACH NIGHT. COOL BREEZE MADE AIR CONDITIONING NOT NEEDED. BEACHES WELL WITHIN WALKING AND OVERALL SUPPORT BY STAFF EXCELLENT.

Awesome accomodations, beautiful oceanfront view. I highly recommend Poipu Shores to anyone visiting Kauai. The housekeeping was excellent and the people were very friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Amazing unit for location. Waves breaking directly below us 24/7. We kept taking pictures to document the views. Really enjoyed having a townhouse with views from both floors. They gave us a free upgrade for seemingly the best view. The unit was suitable for us but could maybe be updated, older carpet, etc. Enjoyed the "glass-louvered" windows to hear the waves and for the ocean breeze. Pleasant, helpful Staff. Automatic lighting at the back of the unit every night for security. We did need to keep our sliding glass doors closed and locked every night, even on the second floor. Could maybe use added security as there were reported break-ins on the Island and the location is somewhat remote being right over the ocean. The pool was clean and nice with waves sometimes breaking to "spray" into the pool area (I told you it was just above the ocean.) Parking completely adequate for us. Close enough to walk to area beaches (Poipu) and to a Restaurant and snack bar at "Brennecke's." The snack bar has breakfast items, laundry soap. Well-stocked kitchen in the townhouse for meals or grilling at home. They also provided paper towels, dish soap, etc. Nice washer and dryer upstairs. Safe provided in the unit. We snorkeled at Lydgate Park, swam in front of the Sheraton, took an ocean raft trip (pretty rough) to see turtles, took a canoe trip to a swimming hole, saw waterfalls, Sheraton Luau, and snorkeled at Anini on the North Shore. Recommend "Pink's" ice cream in Hanalei. This was the best location we have had in Kauai (third trip here) and we enjoyed the quiet, "homey" feel to the property. Our guidebook suggested that people ask for an "upgraded" unit when reserving. We had a "deluxe" two bedroom. All units are ocean-front. Maybe ask for additional security if possible. Don't expect a fancy hotel but more of a traditional, homestyle property. Memorable ocean-front stay!

very noisy our neignbors were really drunk and loud the whole trip and the management wouldnt do a thing to help us. it was a very upseting trip because we couldnt sleep at night. the managers wouldnt even answer an eamil about the problems and front desk managers wouldnt do a thing .. if you have problems dont expect help from this property

We had rooms that overlooked the ocean and we watched sea turtles swim below us. The condo was very clean and furniture in good shape. The balcony was nice to set on with the other couple who was vacationing with us. Parking is a little cramped but we made do. The price was reasonable and we had good service upon check in. We went all over the island hitting all the fun spots that tourists normally do. This condo was affordable, nice view and just a great place to stay at. Judy Russell Tucson, Arizona
