I wish I could upload photos... I booked an ocean view room but what I got was 90% street view + 10% ocean view. I talked to the front desk girl and also reached out to the hotel via Expedia, their answer was that my assigned room was listed as an ocean view room in their system -- not even partial ocean view! I was transferred to another ocean view room later and it was 85% hotel/parking lot view + 15% ocean view. The ocean was only visible if I stood on the balcony and turned to the right. There was no ocean view from the room itself. SUPER TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! When I mentioned that I could contact Expedia to see how this could be resolved, the front desk girl replied, “Then you can just sit there and wait. You didn’t book through the hotel, and unless you pay extra to upgrade to an oceanfront room, this is the room you paid for. There’s nothing I can do.” Her exaggerated facial expressions (wide eyes, raised eyebrows, and visible effort to restrain her tone) made the interaction feel dismissive, hostile, and extremely unprofessional.

This property is dated and the rooms are in need of updating. The rooms were clean and housekeeping did a great job of checking in to see if we needed anything on the days we didn't want housekeeping services. The staff was friendly but the wait time when checking-in was very long. There were only 2 staff members working the front desk. The parking lot is small for the size of the hotel. When there is a luau parking will be very difficult to find. The pool is very small and no beach access. There are not many loungers around the pool area. The location of the resort is great for walking to restaurants and shops. Food at the resort restaurant is delicious, no room service. Overall, our stay was enjoyable.

The laundry was definitely there but we didn't take advantage of it. The renovations taking place only inconvenienced slightly how long we had to walk to places, but it was otherwise not an inconvenience at all. Our room was renovated and the view was outstanding. The hotel bar was a treat and we were there almost every evening. All of the staff we encountered were fantastic. Would definitely stay there again.

We chose this property based on its reviews and location. We were between properties in Kona and staying over New Year’s, so being close to town mattered. Based on what we read, we felt it would be an acceptable option. Unfortunately, the hotel was very disappointing. The property was built in 1965, and it clearly shows. Although they were able to check us in around 2 p.m. (which we appreciated), the front desk staff was unwelcoming. The room had a strong damp, musty smell, like wet towels that never dried, and the carpet was very old. The door was rusted and rotted and difficult to close. We were given two twin beds and told nothing else was available. Our room was directly under the drop-off/pick-up area, so starting around 6 a.m. we could hear trucks and constant noise. The furniture is extremely outdated, and the hotel overall feels neglected. I did not feel comfortable walking barefoot on the carpet. We also attempted to use the pool area. The pool and jacuzzi are both very small and overcrowded, with adults and children packed in, and the area was not inviting or relaxing. Because it was New Year’s, we made the best of it and spent very little time at the hotel. The property feels more like a motel than a hotel. If you are trying to save a lot of money and don’t care about room condition or amenities, this may work. Otherwise, I recommend looking elsewhere. The only positive was Don’s Mai Tai, which was good. Overall, we were incredibly disappointed.
