This was, unfortunately, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The facilities are extremely dated, and the parking situation is confusing and poorly managed. On top of that, several staff members demonstrated passive-aggressive or even openly aggressive attitudes toward guests. To begin with, the parking garage layout is extremely tight. When I attempted a three-point turn at the entrance because the space was so narrow, an old cranky parking attendant actually yelled at me. The next morning (11/27), things became even worse. The machine did not issue us a parking ticket the previous night because our parking pass expired at 10:30 PM. When exiting the garage, the same parking attendant insisted she would charge us $90 for “no ticket,” even though this was due to the machine not dispensing one. I went to the front desk to report the issue, and the staff member there repeatedly said that the garage “has nothing to do with the hotel.” If that is the case, then why are guests being directed to park there? A second staff member came out and immediately took a very defensive and confrontational tone, telling me that I “needed to understand” that without a ticket I must pay $90. The attitude from both the garage staff and the hotel staff was unprofessional, dismissive, and frankly shocking. This experience left me extremely disappointed. Based on the condition of the facilities and the conduct of your staff, I would never return to this hotel.

Our stay at the Aston Waikiki Sunset was great for our family of six. Our room was near the top and we had amazing unobstructed views of Diamond head and the ocean. The unit had two bedrooms and a pull-out couch. The kitchen was stocked with enough to get by making basic meals. Air conditioning worked well and there were paid laundry machines down the hall. The elevators were fast and we never really waited long for one. A brief walk down the street brings you past several convenience stores and restaurants ending at the beach. !!!Warning on parking!!! If you’re renting a car to explore Oahu, there is a parking structure on property, it is managed by a separate company. There is a low ceiling of 6ft which is not advertised anywhere, choose your rental vehicle accordingly. No where are the fees and policies posted for the parking. It is $35 a day and payable via a kiosk in the lobby. Do yourself a favor and if/when you use the kiosk pay in advance for your whole stay. The parking attendant employees are mostly less than helpful and will overcharge you if you try to pay at the booth.

This hotel is in desperate need of a makeover! All the apartments/rooms are very tired and in desperate need of new furniture, painting, new carpet and new electrical appliances! It isn’t worth the money we paid and many of the staff weren’t very helpful! I wouldn’t stay here again

The Sunset is an old building but in good shape. Quiet, clean and the 6 elevators are adequate for the 35 stories. In the Diamond Head edge of Waikiki and it is 3 blocks s from the beach, the park and the canal. The bus stop is on the corner. There a hotels with more amenities nearby but the price reflects it. If your objective is to have a restful and relaxing time this could work for you. If instead you want to wow your “friends”, maybe try some other place.

Great Stay

Large spacious apartment with separate bedroom and balcony with view from Diamond Head to Waikiki. Kitchen but choose to eat out during stay. 4 lifts - only busy Saturday. Short 3 min walk to Waikiki beach. Very comfortable bed. Enjoyed our stay & would stay again.
