I checked in this hotel around noon, which is a little early but they accommodated me without any problems. They even upgraded my room since mine wasn't ready. The room was very clean and up to date. All the furniture and appliances were nice and clean and in good working order. The room had two a/c units. One in the bedroom and one in the living area. This is a must have for a two room suite or one room will be hot in the summer. So I was pleased with the two a/c units and they cooled great. The only downside to this stay was the room reeked of air freshener which made me a little nauseous. Later at night when it started to wear off I could faintly tell someone had smoked in the room. But the room was nonsmoking so I don't hold that against the hotel management. They can't help when rude guest smoke in the room. I just hope they charge the offenders a cleaning fee!
I travel to Dallas often during the Spring and Summer months and this was my first AND LAST experience staying at this hotel. First of all, our room keys would not work after leaving the room. We had to walk to the front desk 5 times to get new keys. After the fifth time, someone decided to send maintenance down to fix the lock on our door. Secondly, on the next night of our stay the people above us decided to make extremely loud noises as if they were throwing bowling balls on the floor from 11:00 pm until 4:00 am. I called the front desk several times and was assured the problem would be taken care of and it wasn't. The noises continued and the same thing happened the next night. I will never stay at this hotel again, and would not recommend it to anyone. There is an awful smell in the hallway and the bathroom is really small.
The accommodations were very nice and comfortable. There was a ceiling fan in the main bedroom but, it wobbled so much I was only able to run it on low. If you need to stay near Love Field this is a great place to stay. It's also close to the freeway, so you can get to anywhere you need to go quickly.
When traveling through Dallas for a night, I needed a room that allowed pets (I have a golden retriever) and was close to Dealey Plaza/6th Floor Museum. This place was great! 5 miles from the sights I wanted to see, spacious with the kitchenette and recliner. Room was clean, and my golden had planets of room to settle in. I'd definitely recommend even if you're only staying a night! Only downside was no continental breakfast because they are an extended stay. But that's no big deal for us. :)
Ugh. Reserved 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) on our way to Galveston so we could hit up Six Flags...checked in to be told the elevator was out of service. There is luckily a second elevator...but quite a walk to get there. Strange layout. We choose this hotel for the spacious room (2 beds and a pullout) and for the pool for the kids. As IHG members we frequently choose the Candlewood brand. The pool was also closed for maintenance "probably until Monday". Then, our toilet flooded - seemingly for no reason...just a regular flush. I called the front desk and the clerk said she "would get there when she could". She called about 5 minutes later to ask if the toilet was actively running. It wasn't - but only because I turned the water off. She said a maintenance guy was on the way but it would be a while. Meanwhile we have a flooded bathroom floor. We asked if we could move rooms and were allowed to. We were put in a room that had clearly not had the remodel our previous room had...almond colored old refrigerator. Dingy carpet and couch - the pullout mattress was yucky too. It is loud near the highway...we kept the AC on to drown out the noise. The shower pressure is great...but if you have kiddos with you it's too much and not adjustable. The room was clean otherwise and the coffee in the lobby was good. No apologies from staff for the multiple inconveniences we encountered during our stay. I would NOT stay here again.
Convenient, clean hotel particularly if you are flying in/out of Love field. Business class with small kitchenette. Pool was under maintenance, which was mildly annoying due to time of year. Overall, good deal for the money but don't expect luxurious accommodations.
Great experience. The hotel is a little older but it was well kept. Great location near Love Field. The layout is a bit strange and I got lost a few times trying to find the room but this is not surprising.
After the third delay in New York,Southwest Airlines paid for our night and transportation to Candlewood Suites. Huge room, kitchenette, great beds and next to a very interesting restaurant with live Karaoke. Great friendly staff.
When we returned from dinner the evening we checked in, our room seemed very noisy. We faced onto the N. Stemmons Freeway and the traffic noise was so loud we thought a window had been left open. All windows were closed. We had the room reserved for two more nights and decided if the staff was unwilling to help us improve our situation we would have to leave. After breakfast we ran into the General Manager (Mr. Moore?) and told him our story. Within minutes he told us he'd give us a room in the back where it would be quieter. All we'd have to do is pack up our things, leave them in our room, and he'd have everything moved to the new room. All of this he did with a smile. An uncomfortable experience turned into a wonderful one and it's fair to say we were saved by the general manager.
My husband, infant daughter and I attended a wedding in Dallas over the past weekend and stayed at this Candlewood Suites hotel. We chose this hotel because it was one of the few mid-priced hotels in the area that didn't have a mention of roaches in their review (seriously), it was well located, reviewed well and offered one bedroom suites with kitchenettes at reasonable prices. Here were the pros and cons: PROS: -clean - though not fancy - no bugs - felt safe in the area/parking lot, even at night - offered one bedroom suites with kitchenette, bed in living room, and kitchenette (great for travelling with a small child/children) -speaking of small children, they lent us a crib on wheels at no extra cost - free parking, laundry machines, parking and wifi - close to highway, airports (15 min drive), and a McDonald's for a quick meal if needed! (though a gas station one) - offer lots of items for loan (board games, small appliances) CONS: - not too noise proof - heard noisy neighbours above - though they must know this is an issue as they offer noise machines for sleeping at no extra cost - weekly housekeeping only (though you can change your towels for new ones at front desk) - no breakfast (though between the kitchenette and nearby McDonalds, I didn't see this as an issue) Overall, it was a very good stay, and I would return if I needed to go back to Dallas.
