First, some positives... the ac worked great, decent sized tv, fridge is nice to have, clean sink, toilet, tub. Some negatives... the king sized bed had a divot in the middle; both my wife and I ended up in the middle of the bed several times during the night, bathroom door is very difficult to close, front door is difficult to close, the breakfast attendant was not very attentive to what was needing the attention (the eggs were out for the entire time we were there, at least 30 minutes). It didn't get refilled until we literally got up to leave. But the coffee was good.
Awful experience. The rooms are very dirty and the beds are very uncomfortable. The breakfast was not good. Front desk personnel and the Manager were not very professional. I wouldn't recommend this place. DON'T STAY HERE.
The Red Roof Inn was the hotel in Anderson that had a room available for the 2017 Eclipse when I called 2 months prior to the event. I had read some pretty bad reviews on Trip Advisor and other, but it was fog friendly and I needed a room for the Eclipse event. Check in is officially posted as 3pm. At 3:30 our room still wasn't clean. I asked the housekeeper if it was if we came in while she finished up. She was very friendly and was ok with that. However, once she left room I noticed how dirty the room was. The bathroom had not been cleaned. I didn't say anything since we needed to get in the room. It was nice that breakfast was included. The pool was nice, although they have mostly plastic Adirondack chairs and a few lounge chairs. We did notice roaches crawling on the walls in the early morning when we turned the lights on. I kind of expected that based on other reviews. Overall, the staff was friendly. I just feel the owner needs to exterminate and work on cleanliness of the rooms and hallways.
NO STARS if I could. This hotel seemed clean when I checked in, in the evening but, when I woke up the next morning and turned on the lights cockroaches came out everywhere! I saw three in my room and 2 spiders in corners that had been chilling for awhile. I booked it out of there without even drying my hair and I did not check out the breakfast. When I told the front desk at checked out she said very calmly "Really? Well I will get them to spray in there." She finally apologized as I was heading out the door. So gross!
Grateful they didn't lose our reservation for the eclipse like the 15 people before us checking in. But dirty, roachy, and scary (people cursing outside, smoking, half dressed). Paint all of the rugs, one small towel for 4 people, dirty toilet very low to the ground, and we smelled cigarette smoke coming into our room from somewhere.
TLDR: Please do not stay here! Had an extremely frustrating and unpleasant experience in this Red Roof Inn! Room is extremely UNSANITARY! There are cockroaches on the wall crawling. The manager is very UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE, he refuse to change the room. South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control should come and inspect this inn. I would give zero stars if I could! See photos attached in this review, and the full story below. Here's the story, I am staying in this inn for the 2017 solar eclipse for 3 nights. I arrived late to the inn, so the staff checked me in with the last room, room 123. The staffs are really friendly though. After I entered the room, the room is not clean, bedsheet is a little yellow-ish, it looks like it is not washed for a long time. Later I noticed there are three cockroaches crawling on the walls. I called the front desk, one of the staff came to the room with a large pesticide bottle and sprayed on the cockroaches and the corners. The staff told me I should check tomorrow morning to see if I can change the room. I went back to my car and sleep in my car instead, and hope the manager will be able to change my room tomorrow. The next day, I went back to the front desk to address the issue to the manager. I told him is it possible I can change my room. He immediately replied NO. I told him living in a room with cockroaches is not acceptable. He told me there are cockroaches in houses and homes too, so it is normal to have cockroaches. WHAT!?! If I owned a house I would keep all bugs from entering my house. He also said he went to check the room in the morning and he see no cockroaches. DUH! I killed some of them last night, of course you can't find them!! He literally said you can see cockroaches at the parking area. so basically what the manager is trying to say is, cockroaches cannot be avoided in the rooms, and it is normal to see cockroaches in the room? He did not even apologize!!! The manager's management of this property is not qualified, and he should be fired.
The staff was friendly the manager RUDE My keys did not work so loaded with what was in my arms and the dog on the leash I walked in to have them rekeyed The rude manager came up said he does not allow dogs in the lobby then proceeded to follow me out swearing at me I also checked out for a weekend and called in that I left two expensive down pillows which when reported to red roof they claimed I never left them. There are also cockroaches in the bathroom every night AVOID THE PLACE AT ALL COSTS
This is great property as price you pay for it. I Red Roof Inn and Suites as with my family on vacation and it was pleasant stay. I would surely recommend this property ... Don't look at other review as the some people expect CASTLE on price of penny.
I was in town for a funeral so it was close by.When I arrived about 10 kids were running around at entrance in and out of building while their parents were partying.Very uneasy feeling.Room was not cleaned well .Price was average.
We have always enjoyed our stay at this Quality Inn! But the last time we were up in Anderson visiting our daughter the hotel has been closed! We always were able to get a Military Discount and had a clean and quiet room and loved the breakfast in the morning! A good selection of egg's, sausage, waffles, grits, sausage gravy and biscuits! Again, we are here in Anderson for her Spring break and we drove by the hotel and saw a Red Roof Inn sign outside the entrance. So, I guess we will not be staying at the Quality Inn any more!
