We arrived early but our room was ready. The hotel was peaceful and clean but in need of some updates on the interior. The bathroom door was warped on the bottom and would not close fully. This didn't matter for just the two of us but might matter to others.The living room lamp did not work, the one on the wall you had to turn the bulb to get it to come on as the switch was broken. The coffeepot was rusted on the plate but worked. It was clean, the housekeeping staff was wonderful and the amenities were good. Every staff member I had contact with was polite and professional. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and coffee enough for 2 pots is provided daily if wanted.

When previously stayed at Sandcastle, we were not disappointed; which is why I booked with them again this vacation trip. Upon arriving, we were placed in the wrong room & didn't have amenities requested; called down & got straightened out. In Correct room, it was okay, but realized that it wasn't had previously stayed in (amenity wise) and didn't feel like trying to move rooms again, or mess w/all reservations; so we toughed it out. ISSUES: The bathroom fan sounded like NASA getting ready for lift off; caulking needs replaced, shower head leaked. The microwave sometimes worked, but had no stop/cancel button that worked. The floor wasn't the cleanest, like hadn't been swept in awhile. ALL the outlets were about ready to fall out the wall, making charging electronics at times, impossible. The balcony had paint peeling from the floor. NO kitchen space to wash dishes Positives: oceanfront with balcony. could use kitchen.

Hotel was right on the beach.The parking was good. 7 "pools" included 4? hot tubs, usually packed with kids. There were 2 men who we observed sleeping on the pool chairs well into the night. The pool area had several broken chairs. The fridge in our unit had mysterious chunks on the shelves. The range top was dirty. Of course we washed all the dishes before and after use. The outdoor drain on the A/C unit backed up onto the balcony so we had to have a pile of towels on the floor to avoid tracking water into the room. Please, bleach the floor of the shower! I do not know WHY we paid a mandatory $15 per night "resort fee".

Showed up early for check in and was told to come back at 4:00. At 5:15 the room was still not ready and was told, check in STARTS at 4:00 with out any idea when it might be ready. With that exclusion they don't need to provide the room to you at any particular time. No other room available. No cancelation w/o losing deposit. Staff rude. Management rude. And to top it off, our room had no shower curtain.

Housekeeper was extremely nice and helpful! They made sure we had everything that we needed. Even went out of their way to get my son a drink when the coke machine failed. Hotel was directly on the beach. Loved it! Had a great time! Little older hotel, but we were hardly in doors. BEST parking in the area!

This was the worst experience I've had.... They lost my reservation and we're Rude about it ... not accomadating...not knowledable of the area or the offerings of their site. And complimenting me on my jewelery didn't make me feel better

Well, we decided to celebrate our 8 yr. anniversary & we arrived on Saturday 5/6/17 4:30ish. The clientele staying were rude, pushy. I believe there was a local event the previous week not sure what, note to self we won't check-in on the first Saturday of May the next time we decide to stay in MBSC. After our first night we woke to a horrible experience, would never had expected to experience BEDBUGS! We woke 7:30 & pulled the covers back as we got out of bed & when I returned to the bed is when I noticed the bedbug. I immediately took pictures & picked it up with a tissue & delivered it to the front desk. We wanted to checkout but the desk personnel said being we had booked through a 3rd party we could not get a refund, and couldn't be moved up to the sister hotel up the street. So the lady at the desk said she would get housekeeping on it & assign us to another room. We waited in our room for notification when we were going to be moved until10:30am. I then went down to the front desk and was finally given a key to our new room. We went from the 14th to the 8th floor which wasn't a bad thing. Immediately upon checking in our new room. We stripped the beds & inspected, we found no evidence of the critters. The 2 people at the front desk seemed not too concerned with our situation; as if it was a normal thing they deal with. After Saturday afternoon & into Sunday morning events things mellowed out; the rest of our stay we were constantly on the lookout.

Absolute best view of the beach ever out of our balcony!!! Housekeeping staff were very friendly and courteous and made sure we had everything we needed.. Room was spotless. They are in the middle of renovations so some wear and tear noted in the hallways. Definitely would chose to stay again.

Check in was quick and easy. Parking was convenient. The room was clean and I liked that it had laminate flooring instead of carpet. Great ocean view and beach access. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is run down, nasty, shower head is 2 feet shorter than me and can't smoke on balcony. Poolside bartender is the best part..... Only thing that made our stay worth while.

It was ok, I wish the carpet was cleaner. Shower was great. View great. I won't stay again because they wouldn't even consider a late check out, and I know that hotel was not full to capacity during an off season, no holiday weekend.

Okay hotel for a one night stay.Could stand for an upgrade and be a bit cleaner. Good parking garage. Right on the beach and spacious oceanfront room was good. Pretty much the center of south ocean beach. Not many places to eat within walking distance, particularly in the evening.

The hotel was in a really bad part of town. We not only heard gunshots the night we stayed there was blood on our bedspread and the room was not very clean. The manager however was outstanding and very accommodating when we voiced our concerns and helped us get a refund for our stay.

Had a pleasant stay, nice hotel with great ocean views. We really enjoyed our stay. Only drawback is bed spread: bed sheets can be more cleaner. However, it doesn't spot is having great time.

I called around 9pm checking on my reservation the reception was so rude, and unhelpful. She said I can request for a high floor at check in and she would not check on my reservation. When I checked in at 2am, the front desk clerk was unhelpful, rude, and had no customer service at all. I got a dolly and loaded all my stuff on, he was outside talking to a older man, and some stuff fell off the dolly, he rufused to help me or even ask if I needed help. This hotel housekeeping staff Is very friendly but front desk is not. Do not stay here unless you don't mind a careless person helping you.

Just ok. Able to relax. Family enjoyed the pools, the free DVD and putt-putt. The bathroom left a little to be desired.

nice hotel

not a "resort" experience

Hotel was right on the beach.The parking was good. 7 "pools" included 4? hot tubs, usually packed with kids. There were 2 men who we observed sleeping on the pool chairs well into the night. The pool area had several broken chairs. The fridge in our unit had mysterious chunks on the shelves. The range top was dirty. Of course we washed all the dishes before and after use. The outdoor drain on the A/C unit backed up onto the balcony so we had to have a pile of towels on the floor to avoid tracking water into the room. Please, bleach the floor of the shower! I do not know WHY we paid a mandatory $15 per night "resort fee".

Hotel was directly on the beach. Loved it! Had a great time! Little older hotel, but we were hardly in doors. BEST parking in the area!
