We were really disappointed in our stay. We didn't have any cleaning in our room the entire stay and we had to request towels in order to get clean ones. Our bathroom electricity went out and had to be fixed and the drawers. in the room wouldn't stay closed so we had to put a chair in front of them to keep them from coming open. I expected way nicer for almost $300/night

After a long day, after checking in, our hot water did not work, the phone in our room also dud not work. We repacked our things and headed down to reservation to request a new room. They advised it would be quicker to have someone come fix it. He was able to make it Luke warm. All we wanted was to take a hot shower. Not a great experience.

Very bad experience on Fattiville St, while walking to find a restaurant. Extremely dangerous, lot of homeless people, some with mental illnesses. Especially near Moores Station and heading towards the capital.

Back to the Marriott we go.

We choose high end hotels when staying downtown in bigger cities primary for the convenience of valet parking. I was very surprised and disappointed such a hotel did not offer valet parking. Instead, I had to find a parking garage and carry my luggage to the hotel which was a total hassle. I attempted to order room service which was advertised but was told by the front desk the restaurant was separate from the hotel and I had to contact the restaurant directly to place the order. The front desk could not transfer me to the restaurant and did not know the number in which I could call. I finally walked downstairs and went to the restaurant instead. It was my only option. The manager of the restaurant was very nice, felt bad and gave me my breakfast for free. For that I was very appreciative. Two of the nicest waitress made up for everything. Their names were Noelle and Fifi. Awesome friendly ladies. Toilet was a nightmare to flush. Had to hold the handle down for over 20 seconds to make a flush. With all of that said, it’s back to center city Marriott we go.

I stay at this hotel every month when I travel for work. While I have some complaints about the rooms, I still choose to stay here for price and convenience. None of the things I mention are so bad to deter me from staying here. There is a Marriott nextdoor that I stay in as well if it’s cheaper at the time. The location is convenient in downtown Raleigh, and there are many restaurants nearby. There is a restaurant and bar within the hotel, and they have a cafe in the mornings for coffee. Parking is across the street, and it’s $20/nt. There is a public garage directly adjacent to it that has free overnight parking, unless there is an event. The rooms are generally very clean, and the bedding is always fresh and comfortable; but it is time for a refresh. The bathroom could use a remodel or a deep clean of the shower head, tiles/grout, caulking, and walls. This seems to be consistent for all the rooms I’ve stayed in here. There have been a few rooms where the thermostat did not work. Despite being set at the lowest temperature possible (64*), it didn’t get any colder in the room. One room was HOT all night during the summer. The hot water took 15 minutes to come on in one room. I waited for it to get warm for 10 minutes before I relented and showered with freezing cold water. Thankfully, at the very end, some warm water came through to warm me up just as I was finishing. This was a one-time experience in one room, though. I still choose to stay here despite these things.
