The pictures online make this hotel look like it's worth the expense. However everything that went into the design and decor is cheap. The bathroom was the best part but the lighting was terrible. They tried to make it look like a fancy downtown hotel but we would have preferred a residence inn to this any day. The beds we're uncomfortable. The rooftop bar was cool but it seems they blew the budget on that instead of quality for the rooms.
The AC did an excellent job with a business event we held there in 2018, so guess what? We went back for the same event in 2019! Their catering team is incredible and responsive. They flip the room for our daily events and were excellent in communicating with our event planner with regards to room setups and menu planning- true pros! The really cool thing is we were able to have the entire upstairs until nearly 4. If you have a smaller group, choose the relaxed set up and it makes for a comfortable meeting setting. Plan lunch with them, and everyone could eat outside and enjoy the rooftop views. We planned our event around a night when the AC has live music. So basically, we had a bartender(cash bar) and live music and most of the people there were with our group. This is a great venue. The only negative is we are in the South and the breakfast is a European Buffet, which doesn't satisfy some southern bacon and biscuit loving folks. With fair warning, those folks went for a hearty breakfast at nearby restaurants. Everything in Downtown is right there in walking distance to explore. Love this place!
Perfect location in the heart of where-to-be in Downtown Asheville. New, sleek/modern style hotel. They have the Netflix button. The air conditioner got the room really cool if you simply ignore the temperature reading and gauge by comfort.
Beautiful modern hotel. Easy garage parking. Greeted by very friendly front desk personnel. The room was modern and clean. And I loved that rather than carpet the room was tiled. So much cleaner. Great bathroom and shower set up. A really nice hotel. The only reason I don’t give 4 or even 5 stars is that I can’t believe that the bar isn’t open all day or a restaurant , even with a limited menu. Our room wasn’t ready so we had an hour to kill and as soon as we walked outside a torrential downpour happened. Which apparently is very common. So no room, no restaurant or bar available in the hotel. So we sat upstairs in the 9th floor lounge where the area seems not very clean. There was a glass table that had something embedded beneath the glass yuck. We ended up and did leave the hotel when the rain ended and got a drink and eventually dinner. When we returned to the hotel we went upstairs to the 9th floor to see the sunset and most of the seating was cushions which were still soaked from the rain so you count t use them. We finally found a table and it took about 5 minutes for a server to come over and left a menu and literally 10 minutes later he hadn’t returned so we left.
Great hotel with customer service - received a free room upgrade which rarely happens for me! The rooftop bar (Capellas on 9) is amazing - some of the best views of the mountains that you can get from downtown!
Capellas is on 9. Beautiful outdoor lounge with city views. There's usually live music which sometimes is a solo local artist, and other times, a full band. I've seen that entire place DANCING! great food/drinks wha t more can you ask for?
AC Hotel is in the heart of the shop, restaurant, and pub area. Easy walk to great places. The hotel was comfortable and worth the price. Check out the 9th floor restaurant and bar. Great breakfast places directly across the street.
If you are planning to stay downtown, this is a great choice. Location is excellent. The hotel is modern and the room was ample. The bed was very comfortable, good pillows etc. Breakfast was attractively priced with very good quality and breadth of items. Staff was professional and attentive. We experienced two negatives.... 1) The AC in our room had a buzz. The hotel provided an adjustment for this inconvenience. 2) There is a hospital in the area, so you likely will hear sirens. Overall, we would recommend this hotel for a downtown stay.
Friends stayed earlier this year and I enjoyed visiting their room. The lobby smells great. Had the opportunity to stay this past weekend. Spencer and other workers were very helpful. Loved my room and the shower. I recommend this hotel and would return. Plus, Capella on 9 is the rooftop bar with great views and drinks. For enjoyment, I’d suggest adults and no children for this hotel.
Loved this Marriott. Very unusual, modern, no carpet in the room which I loved. Clean lines, almost minimalistic. If you like traditional, go elsewhere. Undercabinet lighting was cool, bed and bedding were so comfortable. Bathroom had a nice walk in shower w sliding glass door, also sliding frosted glass door to the bedroom. TV was big if you’re into that. Towels could have been a bit softer. Lobby has aromatherapy going on, very relaxing. Not a lot of contact from the staff, which I like. Rooftop bar / restaurant has amazing sunset views. Food is very good. Met a lot of interesting people . The elevator can be slow, stuck w 2 elevators for the whole place. Overnight parking is attached, $15 a night. So it’s kind of NOT typical Asheville, but I liked it a lot.
