The Fairmont hotel is all that it was written up to be. We had the most marvelous customer service in the valet and the concierge, whose name was Thomas Wolfe. We had the worst experience with the cleaning staff. They had only made the bed and hadn't cleaned the room. They ended up just bringing us fresh towels but our room had not been cleaned. After repeated requests for items they brought a box of unopened tissue. Can't tell you how frustrated we were with that service. Almost ruined the entire trip but the wonderful concierge made up for it. Would stay again and chalk it up to terrible timing but it marred the charm and sophistication of the hotel in our minds.
No room service, amenities in the room such as water, mini bar options, etc, all was empty.

I understand it is Covid conditions. It was our anniversary. The bar was open but food was very limited. We ordered two kinds of snacks and it was served on a cardboard container. There was no swimming pool. The fitness center was contracted so if you want to exercsie you have pay $25 each person, you have to pay for internet, the restaurant, Tonga room, was closed. The room we were in was ok. Paint on window sill were cracked, ceiling was patch poorly....uneven float on the ceiling. Not what we expected in a five/four star hotel. We basically went there to just sleep. Very disappointed.
Beautiful old hotel in the Grand Tradition. During COVID it feels like a ghost town.
We loved our room and the views from the room!! Due to the pandemic the restaurants and the bars were closed, so didn’t get to get the full experience
The Fairmont San Francisco is a beautiful property. I have stayed here more times than I can count. This past trip was not the best room though. I would never booked an interior queen again. There were no black out curtains from the interior building lights, which made it difficult to sleep because the room was super bright. The room was also near the elevator and too noisy til at least 2am.
