It was lovely, most comfortable, and in a great location.

I liked that it was quaint and located in a part of the city with easy access to attractions. The down side is that one can easily hear people in the hallways, in the space above the room and outside street noise.

Stayed one night. It is an old building but if you like to experience a century-old, well-maintained and clean place to stay while feeling safe at night this would be a reasonably priced place to stay in this area. The staff is very helpful and pleasant.

Staff were friendly and helpful! Safe location. It's an old building and we heard people above our room when they walked.

A lot of charm; has old style elevator with sliding gate. Great location; just off Powell Street near Union Square. Staff, especially Jo, were very helpful. Option of purchasing breakfast and dinner. Price for downtown San Francisco was excellent. Rooms are very small (it's downtown San Francisco and real estate is expensive). No ice machine, which is problemmatic when it's hot and you want to have a cold water bottle when walking around.

This property was BEAUTIFUL. It truly felt like you were in France with the decor and the rooms. The rooms are not massive, as they’re not in Europe. So keep that mind. But the staff was unbelievably friendly! They allowed us to drop our suitcases off early so we could walk around town without them. Then allowed us to keep them there as we browsed town after check out. The location was perfect as well. Very central to the main hubs of the city and airport. Overall I would absolutely stay here again.

Right beside the cable car stop, a straight road walk to powell bart station within 10 minutes

Nice neighborhood. Rommel the night shift crew is very helpful and excellent worker .

Delicious breakfast in beautiful dining room. Friendly service.

We had a wonderful time at this location. The staff was enormously helpful. There were a few times that we expressed a need and they took care of us quickly and with a smile. The room itself may seem small to some, as it is a European style hotel, but I found it to be quaint and comfortable. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Staff was friendly and made our very late check in easy. Cool older hotel with modern very clean bath rooms Quiet for being so close to union square

Very clean room, location is excellent. Highly recommend the restaurant

Cornell hotel was fantastic. Decor for Christmas season beautiful!

Nice boutique hotel. Older building as typical in SF with small elevator and real keys instead of key card. Basic room which was nice enough, but no tub or fridge. Fine for single travelers or couples who won't be spending much time there. Few blocks from Union square and few blocks from China Town.

Charming hotel in a great location. Everyone was friendly and professional. The hotel is beautifully decorated. Nice touches everywhere. I recommend Cornell Hotel de France highly! There is also an excellent restaurant, Jeanne D'Arc downstairs where I ate a few times. Excellent cuisine!

Charming French inspired small hotel. Friendly staff. Wonderful breakfasts. Restaurant was closed as staff was on vacation so we did not eat there except doe breakfast. The views from the windows were impeded by adjacent buildings

Thank you for your stay with us and for your review of our hotel. While our vintage architecture adds to the quaint charm of our hotel, it also means that it may not be as soundproof as newer San Francisco buildings. We have done renovations over the years to help create a more comfortable stay (adding double pane windows, for example). We are sorry that this did not meet your expectations.

Thank you for your stay with us. We are happy that you appreciated the Old World charm of our hotel. We are in a Victorian style building from the early 20th century with the original Otis elevator. Our rooms and common spaces are decorated with classic French artwork as well as hand-painted decor. All of these create a unique experience that you will find only at our hotel.

Hi, Thank your for your review. Cornell Hotel de France is an historic building (1910). The building offers the charm of the Victorian architecture but also some disadvantages. We are very sorry that you didn't not enjoy your stay. Thank you again for staying with us. Best regards,

Thank you for your stay with us. We appreciate the compliments of our charming hotel, and especially of our helpful staff. Jo, our doorman is a great addition to our team and he will be honored that you found his service to be note-worthy! Just for your information, we do have an ice machine; it is one floor below reception. Feel free to ask our staff if you have any concerns and we would be more than happy to help!
