Welcoming and efficient reception, upgraded to a king size bed (fabulous!), newly updated halls, decor and carpet (beautifully done), a clean, well designed and presented room pus and updated bathroom were all huge assets to our stay. Highly recommend you check out the hotel as it exceeded our expectations. Plus, a complimentary cooked to order breakfast - what’s not to like? This was one of our BEST hotel experiences ever! Shout out to Geethaka at guest services for excellent customer service. Great job Holiday Inn!!
I stayed here for three nights in March of 2018. I was traveling for work, but I brought my family with me as it was March Break. Check-in was efficient. The gentleman checking us in was all about customer service. He was friendly and did his best to accommodate my request of a room on the ground floor. He was able to find us a room on the second floor, near the stairwell. He was very friendly, quick at checking us in and explaining all of the amenities of the hotel. Unfortunately, however, the rest of the stay was not as good: - There was a youth group staying on the same floor that made noise very late into the night. - The swimming pool area was freezing, both the air of the room and the water. It was too cold to be used. - Our room was not made up on either morning of our stay. The first night we were willing to let go, but the second we did not. We had to speak to both housekeeping and the front desk to have our room attended to. We did not opt into the points to forego housekeeping, so I’m not sure what the disconnect was. When our room was finally tended to, not enough towels were left nor was toilet paper refilled. - Internet was intermittent and often did not connect at all. For the above reasons, our rate was changed, which was sufficient for us. The same gentleman that checked us in was the same individual that assisted us when we came forward with our concerns. He was accommodating and all about customer service. I had stayed here in July of 2017, which is why we came back. I am not certain if our recent experience is out of the norm. We would likely stay again to find out and then make our mind up from there.
The staff at the front counter was not very welcoming. The hotel has clearly seen better days. The wall outside the elevator was banged up and the button was broken. The room was a fair size and the beds were very comfortable but someone’s dirty shirt was on the dresser. The furniture was in good shape. There was no fridge in the room and the ice dispenser on our floor was broken. The bathroom was small and the water in the toilet was constantly yellow. We didn’t want to use the tap water as a result. The wifi went on and off and when it was on, it lagged or was buffering. There was no on demand or movie options on the television and with the spotty wifi, watching shows on your computer is a challenge. The breakfast buffet had a significant line up so much so we didn’t bother going back the next day. The assortment was minimal and not very tasty. The sausages and bacon were underdone. The servers were the highlight of the restaurant . They were pleasant, friendly and greeted us with a smile. The pool is a good size but there is no hot tub. We weren’t expecting the place to be fancy but we were still disappointed overall.
Just off the highway with a mall next door. A number of chain restaurant option. Rooms are renovated and clean. No issues with noise from the hallway or other rooms and floors. An enjoyable experience. Felt safe and had quite a bit of parking. Did not eat at the hotel and this was a business trip so I cannot confirm cost /value.
Staff very friendly, located across the street from a nice shopping mall. Arrived late so we had dinner at the hotel. The food was good and our server Jason was very attentive and accommodating. Great place for the price.
Stayed here for a business trip. I didn’t book my travel so the HI probably wouldn’t have been my first choice. I’ve rated it as average as nothing really stands out good of bad it’s just very average (lower cost average So It’s pretty much what I expected). Room was pretty basic but clean and the bed was comfy.
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East for a hockey tournament, Feb 7-Feb 11, 2018. The customer service agent, Lynn who worked at the front desk was completely rude and obviously did not care for her job. The hotel refused to place luggage in a locked room while we waited for our room....a room that we were assured we could check into early and offered to pay extra for. This was news to me because I just assumed this was standard in any other hotel I've ever stayed at, including third world countries. The front desk refused my 15 year daughter an extra key to the room when I was standing right there and produced ID. The restaurant had one employee working, serving nothing more than a meal that should have been included in the stay. I paid $7.00 for 1 piece of bacon that was not part of my meal. During the first night there was a domestic situation in which the police were called and some man was taken out covered in blood and in handcuffs....no joke! My daughter went down to the pool and was abruptly asked to leave at 9:50pm when it was clearly stated the pool was open until 10pm that evening. Would never stay at this hotel again when I would normally choose a Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express.
The Holiday Inn Express chain is consistent across Canada. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are modern and clean as a whistle and the locations are always convenient. The food isn't great but for a quick business trip it's perfect. Unlike the old Holiday Inns, these hotels are great and can't be beat for the price!
We recently stayed at this hotel. It was very clean & modern. My kids really enjoyed the indoor pool. The restaurant has a buffet breakfast which was very reasonable and kids under 12 eat free which was a nice bonus. I would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
Stayed here for 2 nights for business. The two gentlemen who were at the desk were extremely helpful and very funny. Exactly what I needed after a long, late train ride. The room was well furnished, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern. I really appreciated seeing the "Quiet Policy" signs that were played throughout the hotel, as there were scores of young hockey teams staying there as well.. I was nervous that it might be noisy with it being a Saturday night - but the signs most have worked and it was one one the most peaceful sleeps I've ever had in a hotel. I used the fitness facility and while it was quite small it had everything I needed. The only thing I found to be a disappointed was the lack of hot tub. That would have made the hotel just perfect.
