I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Ottawa East for a hockey tournament, Feb 7-Feb 11, 2018. The customer service agent, Lynn who worked at the front desk was completely rude and obviously did not care for her job. The hotel refused to place luggage in a locked room while we waited for our room....a room that we were assured we could check into early and offered to pay extra for. This was news to me because I just assumed this was standard in any other hotel I've ever stayed at, including third world countries. The front desk refused my 15 year daughter an extra key to the room when I was standing right there and produced ID. The restaurant had one employee working, serving nothing more than a meal that should have been included in the stay. I paid $7.00 for 1 piece of bacon that was not part of my meal. During the first night there was a domestic situation in which the police were called and some man was taken out covered in blood and in handcuffs....no joke! My daughter went down to the pool and was abruptly asked to leave at 9:50pm when it was clearly stated the pool was open until 10pm that evening. Would never stay at this hotel again when I would normally choose a Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express.
The Holiday Inn Express chain is consistent across Canada. The staff are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are modern and clean as a whistle and the locations are always convenient. The food isn't great but for a quick business trip it's perfect. Unlike the old Holiday Inns, these hotels are great and can't be beat for the price!
We recently stayed at this hotel. It was very clean & modern. My kids really enjoyed the indoor pool. The restaurant has a buffet breakfast which was very reasonable and kids under 12 eat free which was a nice bonus. I would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
Stayed here for 2 nights for business. The two gentlemen who were at the desk were extremely helpful and very funny. Exactly what I needed after a long, late train ride. The room was well furnished, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern. I really appreciated seeing the "Quiet Policy" signs that were played throughout the hotel, as there were scores of young hockey teams staying there as well.. I was nervous that it might be noisy with it being a Saturday night - but the signs most have worked and it was one one the most peaceful sleeps I've ever had in a hotel. I used the fitness facility and while it was quite small it had everything I needed. The only thing I found to be a disappointed was the lack of hot tub. That would have made the hotel just perfect.
We've stayed here a few times and it's always great. The location is excellent. It's right off the highway and beside St Laurent shopping centre. Hotel is very clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Nicely coloured modern, spacious rooms. Plenty of parking. Kids like using the pool here too. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
Check in was very nice. Front desk clerk was very helpful. We were on our way in no time to our room. Upon entering the room appeared very nice with an inviting king bed and a nice view of the surroundings which mainly consisted of the St Laurent shopping centre (which by the way is a great place to go for shopping). This room also had a Keurig machine with three k-cups. Just a suggestion four k-cups would be great, this would allow each guest to have two coffees each. Our room was not very insulated very well for noise levels. You could hear everything that was going on in the hallway anytime people walked by or in fact in close proximity. Bathroom was in need of a painting...especially the ceiling as you can see in the pictures. A lot of moisture damage causing the paint to peel which completely ruins the appearance of the bathroom. Now here is the fun part...check your bill. Almost 8$ in Destination Marketing Fee and some Sustainability Levy fee which are both a voluntary fees. However never are you told when you check in. Hey wanna give an extra 8$ (=4 Timmies) just because. I know what you claim all these fees to be collected for however it's just another way for the hotel to make extra money in a very sneaky way. The Going green project benefits the hotel as well by lower water consumption, less electricity, and many other things. This should not be at the cost of the guests. It's bad enough for you to charge the DMF fee now your charging SLF. Seriously... This should be banned by the government. If the hotel wants to make extra money raise your rates. Hide it in the price like the government does with everything else. Our stay was nothing more than average. This property appeared to be clean and inviting to guest with only a few issues. We would go back. This property has lots of parking and is close to many restaurants and shopping...all within walking distance.
they did a great job renovating this older hotel. I personally do not like the modern look of the restaurant/bar area, they had a fantastic pub before the renovations. Great beds, lots of pillows to chose from, very comfortable and quiet this hotel is a great location, walking distance to restaurants and shopping mall and 2 minutes off the highway.
Spotless, well cared for hotel staffed with courteous people from the time you walk in. Hotel features a pool suitable for laps. It is well situated with close proximity to highway access and short cab ride to the train station.
This hotel is beautiful and has been renovated! The restaurant at the hotel is great and the staff are very friendly! I like the large pool and fitness area as well. The hotel has easy access to the 417 and makes it easy to get around Ottawa and only minutes to get downtown. The location is also across from some great shopping at the St Laurent Shopping Mall. Definitely would stay again at this hotel on my next trip as it is great to have so much parking available!
I stayed here for one night in July. Check-in was quick and efficient. I was even able to check in early without prior notice. The room was large, comfortable and well equipped. Free parking. Close to the 417 and St Laurent shopping mall.
