Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls

3.5 out of 5.0

The view from my room, 19th floor was AMAZING!! The pool & hot tub, not so great, and they charge you $14.95 a night to use it, it should be free. Parking is $30 a night, is not disclosed until you get there, not happy about that either.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, great view! Centrally located and easy to walk around the rest of the town.

Absolutely awful. Hidden fees on hidden fees. lack of the ability to exchange American money, and no warning on the website or by staff to do so, they just rip you off of hundreds of dollars. When questioned, staff was rude and didn't understand, as if money was no importance. Parking is ridiculously expensive, and down some dark alley that "the hotel doesn't take responsibility for". COMPLETELY unimpressed. When the hotel was contacted about all of these issues, they simply said there was nothing they could do. Ridiculously rude and will NEVER return.

Staff was warm and friendly. Very close to all of the attractions we were interested in. Bought the upgrade to include meals, wine tasting and chocolate factory tour. Well worth the price!

We had a pleasant experience.Parking was convenient and the hotel location was close to the falls.

Orbitz is really falling off my dance card. Everything I have dealt with regarding Orbitz is disappointing to be polite.

Nice hot tub and warm pool. Good view of tge falls

The hotel was right within walking distance of anything you wanted to do in Niagara Falls. The room was very clean and the views over Niagara Falls were absolutely amazing.

We had a room with a view and jacuzzi. The phone didn't work, but was later fixed. The jacuzzi had a rind of scum. It was cleaned after I complained to the maid. After reviewing the menu, we bought the $69 dollar dinner and tour package. When we got to the restaurant the menu was changed. The hotel is using an old menu. So the dinner I wanted would cost $7 more! When I asked for some bread, the waitress informed me the only bread they had would cost $7! There were no closets in our room and had a pedestal sink in the bathroom and no where to set your toothbrush or anything else. We had a table and only one chair. Also, if the switched the bed to the other wall you could actually could see the Falls!

The parking lot very expensive, the personal staff no oriented of the parking lot and the room no refrigerator to cool drinks

Great location, large room, bathroom could be better, not enough counter space. Parking fee was not disclosed up front. Found in small print later, but no other options mentioned at check in and garage next door could have been $100 less for our stay.

The view from our room was amazing. It was a great corner room and very spacious. The bathroom with the Jacuzzi tub was a nice touch. However there is a lot of wasted space. The living room area of the suite consisted of a sofa, table and a small fridge. There should be a desk with outlets, The only outlet that was not full and we could use to charge phones was in the hall outside the bathroom. The selling point for this room is the view and there is a huge TV stand/ dresser that blocks a portion of your view. The TV should be hung on the wall, and use some of the wasted space in the room for a dresser. For the price, attentions to small details would be great, (replace the plastic cup with glass, more outlets, possible phone charges) This hotel has a rich history and is in a an amazing spot, but if attention is not paid to this property and it is not brought up to date, I am afraid it will be overshadowed by the surrounding properties. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Nice enough hotel in a great location. Staff was a little rude and not very welcoming. That could be overlooked because of the comfortable room and great view.

I paid extra for fallsview so my kids could enjoy the view at night time, but I got a room on the third floor and all we could see was tree tops. I immediately requested a room on a higher floor, buy the hotel personnel basically told me to take it or leave it. Stay in a better hotel more inland and walk to the falls.

Good location, clean rooms, friendly & helpful staff

The hotel have a perfect view of Niagara Falls my son and I were in amazement. The hotel is in walking distance of everything you need at Niagara Falls. The room was very comfortable very nice

I really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the view. We just stared and stared at the light show at night. For those who don't get a Fallsview room, there is a great observing lounge on the 14th floor with the same view. Surprisingly, the Canada side is more commercial and tourist-y because it faces both falls square on. Be sure to visit the U.S. side's state park for more natural beauty and old-time flavor.

The hotel was ok for one night. The beds were not comfortable, rooms looked dark and outdated. I didn't have the Niagara Falls view room as I paid for. The only view was to the parking lot.

Nice hotel..limited food options except expensive downtown restaurants..10-20$ breakfast...hidden fees..30$ pre day parking..15$ resort fee daily( mandatory)..+hidden taxes...3 days = 150$ extra fees..

Nice fallview, nice hotel staff, carpet need upgrade, AC is nosiy

We are sorry we let you down, we do exchange money but not at the bank rate, we only offer 10%. We are happy to take the money with that exchange but we think its fair to let you know to go elsewhere to get the better rate. all of our fee's are indicating on the booking site, under policies area. We appologize that it is not at the top of the page we have asked all websites to do this for us, but have not been successful. Our on site patking lot wraps around to the back of the building, when the back lot is full guests must parkin on the inlcine area which is safe, all staff park here as well. OR Applebee's lot is also avaialbale at anytime. We will share your feedback with the staff so that they can better infrom guests where to go to exchange money like the casino
