Our one bedroom suite was perfect for the three of us. Full kitchen, clean room and attentive staff. Sofa bed not comfortable but that’s expected. Our room lacked any blankets and extra towel, as soon as I called front desk, they came with them. On site is a play ground, pool and even a toddler playroom. I would stay here again. Only negative is the restaurant option for breakfast, skip Big Daddy’s. Walking distance to parliament and Byward market great location. As others have wrote in reviews, parking garage is low ceiling and has very steep incline. Be careful of any mid size vehicle. I had a small rental car thankfully and not my regular vehicle that has a roof rack. Room has balcony and overall hotel was very quiet.
I initially wrote a review but it appears to be missing so I will rewrite it. 07/23/2018 - I had booked a hotel room for my father who was traveling last minute to deal with a family emergency. I had received a confirmation email with everything set for my father to make his way to after his train arrived at 2AM. Unfortunately when he got there he was told he needed a visa, now he called me and told me the situation and when I tried to find a solution with the person on the other end I was told I could fax them a copy of my credit card. Mind you it was 2AM and I don't own a fax machine so I told them I would send him the money in cash to cover the deposit but that was not enough. Instead they turned my father away, leaving me unable to book a new hotel room because it was already passed 12 Midnight and all the online booking is closed for the previous night. So my father spent the night on a park bench, sleeping in the rain. Treating people with dignity is obviously not what this hotel is about. Still waiting for that call from the GM that never came.
Good hotel about 15-20m walk into the centre. Yes the rooms are a bit dated but they are really clean & super sized There was a small kitchen in ours which was a bonus The pool was really clean & sauna ok Staff all great & there is a good pub on the corner with happy hours so all good
The hotel was very cosy and the staff was kind. My stay was relaxing, I spent much of the indoor time at the pool and the jacuzzi! The rooms were clean and comfortable with all amenities. The surrounding is quite nice, a couple of minutes walk to the park and major atttactions. The hotel does justice to family trips, as well as long term business trips. Absolutely worth its rate.
My sister and I booked this hotel based on location and price. Although it is old and outdated, it was clean. The problem was saturday night. We got back to our room around 10:45 and the room next to us was extremely loud. I called down the front desk to let them know and they said they would do something about it. 15 minutes later it hadn’t changed so we called again. They said they spoke to them but I asked if they could again as it was after 11pm and it was so loud it was as if they were in our room. I ended up having to call a third time... still nothing. We put in ear plugs and could STILL hear them. I understand hotels can be noisy and it is saturday night but that was ridiculous. The staff did absolutely nothing. I wouldn’t recommend staying here on the weekend unless you want to party yourself. Apparently no one will stop you.
We stayed for four days. The room was well equipped in the kitchen. It included a safe in the closet. It was in serious need of updating. All of the staff were helpful. Parking underground was tight to navigate. Watch your overhead clearance. At $30 on top of the room rate, it felt a little steep. Hotel location is ideal - on the bus routes and close to the Elgin Street restaurant strip.
We stayed there 4 nites. Called the hotel to book. NOTHING was asked about how tall or big our vehicle was. We asked for NON SMOKING. Arrived at the hotel and go to park-nope our Exterra is about 2 inched to tall. So we are paying to park in another lot-unsecure-hopefully owed by the hotel-but not the end of the world. HOWEVER, the NON SMOKING room stunk so bad like smoke-you know, that old smoke that’s in the carpets and from people smoking on the balcony-even though its not allowed. As non smokers and myself extremely sensitive to smoke, perfumes etc. It was pretty gross. The next morning we mentioned to the front desk. Now i have to say the staff at the desk are very nice. They offered to move us-but i said only if you can guarantee the next room is better. We explored the city and came back later that afternoon. They young lady left a message they found a room-but honestly we were tired and it was a hassle to pack everything back up and haul it to another room. So we sucked it up, but we cancelled our last nite booked. The manager Gina left a message on my phone on the day we cancelled our last night booking-we called her once we got back to the hotel-at 3:20-but she’s gone for the day. We did the same the next day-4:02 but she is gone for the day-left a message for her to call us. The day we checked out-STILL NO WORD FROM THE MANAGER-its 8:50 am-she should be in any minute we were told-so we waited, waited waited and left at 9:20 as she’s no were to be found. The young lady at the desk said she wanted to talk to us. I then called her at 9:49, direct to her office-left a message. 3 days later STILL NO CONTACT FROM HER. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE AN EMPLOYEE LIKE HER-NEVER AT WORK AND NEVER RETURNS CALLS. THIS IS the reason for the 2 stars-other staff very nice, the room -other than the smoke- was good. BUT FOR THE PRICE POINT it better be non smoking and parking for all
This hotel with its self catering, large apartments met all our needs. Close to the centre of Ottowa with helpful and courteous staff. The rooms were clean and well stocked for a great stay. Would stay here again.
This was nearly a 3 star rating. But not cheap ($330). Main saving grace was 2 large bedrooms. However furniture, decor, and carpets etc feel like need upgrade and modernization. Asking parking was ridiculously expensive ($30) and little alternative Can’t give recommendation
The hotel is outdated, the building and the room. We stayed two nights and the second day the floor’s bathroom wasn’t cleaned. When you arrive they take you a security deposit for: - the key (30 CAD) - the room (200 CAD) - the cost of the room (260 CAD) So you have the credit card plafond reduced by the total deposit for one week. The parking rate is 30 CAD plus taxes per night. In the Booking’s email was indicated that the rate of the breakfast was 10 CAD. In reality the breakfast was served in a restaurant/pub near the hotel and they gave you a discount of 10%. Everything was too much.
