No hot water. Room in poor condition. Just sold to turn into condos. Letting it go.

Location was perfect, room was great. Restaurant was good but pricey.

Freezing!!!!! Heating system not up to even minimal. Windows leak cold air. Front desk is too bored to attend to anything. Never again!!

The room we stayed was clean but the carpet was in desperate need for replacement. It is an okay hotel but overpriced.

decent hotel with very convenient location, and it is very clean, also quiet at night. A little bit small but no to complain in upper east of manhattan. Only complain is the bed is a little bit too soft and I prefer firm bed.

Got to the hotel late. Found out that my reservation was made for a single bed. The clerk said that he does have an upgrade to a suite with 2 beds for one night only however there would be an upgrade surcharge of $100. We agreed to the upgrade with the one night surcharge. The clerk further changed our reservation to a 1 bed and a pull out sofa that was to become available second day for the duration of our stay. On second day we swapped to the room with 1 bed and a pull out sofa and stayed for a total of 4 nights. At checkout I has the surprise of getting another bill, in addition to what I had pre-paid on Orbitz, in the sum of $400+ tax. It was explained to me that the room rate never changed to the original, instead we were up-charged for a suite with 2 beds for the entire stay. I have asked what was the price difference between the room with one bed that I have ordered originally and the room with 1 bed and pull out sofa that we used for 3 nights. The clerk mumbled and said we should discuss pricing with the manager; at the time of our check-out at 3.30AM there was not manager available and Management did not call me since (2 weeks since). In addition, I had asked the clerk to pre-order a taxi for our 3.30AM departure. To my surprise, the hotel valet person awaited for me with his personal vehicle and offered transport to the airport for cash payment. He even had a stack of receipts with no business name available. Took time to get a taxi with the night clerk....

Lauren at the front desk is the most gracious, friendly, helpful and welcoming person. She checked me in my room the minute I arrived at the hotel despite my early morning arrival. She greeted me every time she saw me with a happy smile and offered helpful advices to make my stay in NYC safe and comfortable.

Our room was spacious by any standards, and it was clear the bathroom had been newly remodeled. We love the neighborhood feel of the Upper East Side and couldn't have been happier. Noise was never a problem even though we had an unhappy toddler across the hallway!

It is fairly close to the hospital and that is the main reason I choose this hotel. The room was very noisy, noises from the streets are direct to your ears!

Hotel is in a great location. Public areas are well finished with a historic feel - business center and meeting room very nice. Room was fine, but cold. In need of some basic repairs of the ceiling. Breakfast does not exist as buffet style.

We visited NY for a long weekend. Great upper East side location. Friendly staff.

I have stayed at the Wales many times for its proximity to museums on the upper east side. As a result I have frequented many of the good neighborhood restaurants, and shopped at nearby drug stores and for other necessities. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms well appointed since their renovation a few years back, and their upgraded bathrooms delightful. My only wish is that they still,offered breakfast, which made it a real find. Adjoining Sarabeth's, however, is a great place to eat breakfast. I plan to return again.

I stayed here because my mother was having a procedure at Mt Sinai Hospital and had to stay overnight. Hotel is only 7 blocks from hospital so it was only a 5 minute walk. Very convenient. Hotel was very nice. Room was extremely clean and spacious. Would recommend this hotel to everyone!!!

Yes, we did have a boiler issue this past weekend but it has been permanently properly repaired and back online. We are sorry for this inconvenience and we would like to make it up to you so please have Orbitz let us know when you are in our neighborhood again so we can provide you a complimentary upgrade to one of our one bedroom suites at no additional charge. Our rooms and suites were updated last year with all new beds, new carpet, new lamps and sofa beds. The hotel will close in January but we will and do continue to operate as we always have with high service standards so please come back and let us show you our true hospitality. Our Customer Service is top priority and we are sorry you had issues with the heat in your room. Our hotel was opened in 1901 so with the well below normal these past few days, it has been colder than expected in and around some areas of the hotel. Our heating system is running normal but at times, with these temperatures, it continuously is being adjusted by our Engineering Team to make our guests as comfortable as we can. Please let us know the next time you would like to return to our hotel through who you book by and we would be happy to provide you a complimentary upgrade to one our many spacious one bedroom suites and we will insure it is very comfortable for you. good location but needs renovation

decent hotel near central park
