Honestly, this hotel doesn’t even deserve one star. The front desk receptionist Leo is rude and racist. We arrived early and was told prior that we would be able to check in early based upon availability. So it should be first come first serve. We showed up at the hotel at 10 AM although check in starts at 4. Prior to coming I was told I should be able to check in around 1. Now another couple comes in after we do at around 2 and was able to check in with no problem. The couple happened to be caucasian and we are clearly minority’s. Money was not an issue because we let them know that we would have no problem paying for being here a little while extra. Still waiting and another caucasian woman walks in at around 3 and was able to check in without being told anything about their check in policy starting at 4. At this point, we’re ready to just go to another hotel - but of course they have no refunds policy. He insists on telling us that check in is at 4 and that the other couple was able to check in because their room was “ready.” How is it that if we offered to pay extra , came here earlier and spoke with other receptionists prior that another couple can come and check in before us? He was very rude, not friendly and not accommodating to us but was very accommodating to the other couple. He had attitude when confronted about the other couple being able to check in before us. They lack common sense and hospitality. If someone has been here since 10AM and check out time is at 11, common sense would be to have that room cleaned first so that we could check in earlier. At the end of the day, it would’ve put more money in for the company. As time is going on staff is now talking to me across the room rather than asking me to come up to the desk to speak. That is rude. Although the location is convenient for being on South Beach, the staff is horrible. Just stay at another hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone in my life. Note to management: Train your staff in proper educate and if they want to be strict about check in time then they need to treat all guests the same and hold them all to that same policy.
not impressed will not stay again. hotel needs to be updated, showers need to have doors, Guests should be able to operate the AC in each room, room was very clean but old furniture, housekeeping was great
Paid for valet but had to park my own vechile after calling multiple times while security watched. Packed own bags etc. Desk returned key after car inspection then called as we were out stating that they need key back while I was eating. Instructed them Key was in my room they threatened to tow because someone wanted out. Paid for meal that I didn’t eat to return key monitored car and it was never moved. They also stated they would buy my dinner but didn’t. Asked for refund before actually staying in room and was looked at and ignored, asked why I was being ignored and they desk attendant just said yes. Manager was supposed to be there in the morning but wasn’t as I was told multiple times. Don’t stay here there are much nicer places.
What seemed like a cheap hotel at first ended up costing much, much more. £88 for the room, £35 for the parking, £50 "hotel fees" plus a £200 deposit. It's no longer a cheap hotel, although the location was good. The decor was old, but retro enough to be quaint. However, the bed was nothing short of atrocious. Collapsed in the middle and creaking with every movement. Thankfully we just booked for an initial 2 nights. I doubt we are staying for the second. On check in you are sold a variety of excursions, it just adds to the feeling of money grabbing and misleading pricing. Awful.
We arrived to a very strange and unpleasant smelling reception/foyer. Almost like ammonia. The furnishings and decor are very retro and interesting but this makes reception very dark and dull. The guy at reception was a little grumpy especially after we questioned our ‘pay upfront bill’. We also questioned the 200 dollar deposit that was requested that we had never been told about. He even said to ‘go stay somewhere else’ We asked if we could divide that between the two of our cards so it didn’t have a big impact on one particular person - as it was likely it would not be returned by our bank for a month. This was however refused so one of us took the rather large hit. He did say we can pay cash but as our next destination (Mexico) was all inclusive we did not want to have 200 dollars in cash as we would not use it. We eventually went to our room (we had already made the upgrade to a nicer sea view room) however it was opposite the AC machine which was quite noisy throughout the night. However - not as noisy as the street below and people returning to their rooms almost hourly throughout the night up to 5am. No consideration for others despite ‘do not disturb on our door. Maybe the fact one set of ear plugs are provided should have raised alarm bells! Bathroom small but ok. Toilet didn’t flush as we arrived so service guy needed to come and fix it, then it continually filled up with water on flushing and took forever to go down. Bed amazing. High and comfy, firm (almost too firm) but fine. Pillows like cement giving us a stiff neck through the day. Throw which was in wardrobe had white stains on. We needed it as the room was SO cold with AC and no control over it inside the room. Windows sealed shut and were filthy! Hand marks and dirt all over plus dirty frames Towels given - minimal, two adults had two small bath towels and a hand towel plus bath mat. We were not told that chairs and towels were available for the beach, I’ve just read about it on here No where to hang anything in bathroom. Needs door hooks No tea or coffee making facilities nothing even available to buy. Two bottles of water on arrival in fridge - nothing more. Room just dirty really, photos will show this. Including gum stuck to blanket, and valance sheet filthy Plugs - very few. Two behind a fake plant and two at the mirror which is by front door at the sink - which belongs in the bathroom. So when strip washing watch your door isn’t ajar or the world and his wife will get a good view of your bits WiFi goes on and off. Always having to re connect it with a code that’s given at check in. This code will only give you access on ONE device. I needed my phone for messages and would have liked my IPad for Netflix as TV channels limited At best this was a shoddy Hotel and NOT the 4* it claims to be. Yes, I agree, location great, that is where it ends. It seems you can charge an extortionate rate of 225 dollars a night approx because you happen to be on ocean drive
I was a little hesitant when I see the reviews being at 2.7 out of 5 stars. Room was very nice, and pleasant, you can't beat the location and there was no unexpected fee's (I booked on Expedia and confirmed with the resort, the two fees at check in were the resort fees and the valet parking, the rest was paid on expedia) Staff was friendly, elevator was old fashioned which I loved. The exterior halls were a little dated, but is easily over looked. I'd stay again.
I asked for an ocean view room and they gave me one!! cozy rooms (could be noisy though ).the location was close to everything. free beach towels and helpful stuff. a bit cold floor and aircon - didn't find how to turn it off...
The power went out so it was a waste for one of my co-workers to even be there,so she stayed in the room and dark because she couldn't do nothing (didn't have enough juice in your phone to go out so we can keep in touch)
If you are looking for a no frills stay that is close to the beach this is a great choice. Most of the staff is friendly, you're within walking distance of a lot of food options, and the old style hotel is fun (the old elevator itself is something fun to see) Unfortunately the hotel has few amenities, no food, difficult Wi-Fi, and minimal options which makes the additional resort fees pointless. This a good hotel to stay in if your only plan in the hotel is to sleep.
Ms Mirlaine was the best I had some questions before my arrival and answered them all, and then when I arrived she welcomed us with a big smile and pleasant attitude she definitely made the trip and made my wife laugh. The place is located right on the strip and you can pretty much get to any where from here. The room was exactly as described and clean, I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in town.
