Stayed here at the end of a trip from San Fran to LA. The hotel is not in the best area of LA so not advisable to walk out at a night but easy to get an uber to get around. The hotel lobby is very nice and so is the bar area. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Although we were lucky enough to be there for it's official opening the hotels hallways look a tad tired. Our room was quite small but ok. The big thing they could do better is the valet parking is very expensive with much cheaper local options. I would recommend but with the caveats of location and parking. Driving round LA is slow but fine so easy to get round with a sat nav.
I had been reading mixed reviews and it made me worried. But I got a great rate for 2 nights. 1/3 cost of places closer to Staples. What a Bargain. Yes the rooms aren’t huge. But they are clean, bed is good and the hotel lobby is terrific. Nice quick uber ride to staples.. Had a great stay.
We are locals so we were not staying the night, just trying the restaurant, Eve. We loved it primarily because the food was so good but also it is lovely inside. As a party of six we got to sample various appetizers so: RAVE reviews on the Avocado Bruschetta, the Crab Deviled Eggs, and the Grilled Octopus. Delicious! And then the Wild Mushroom Duck Ragout and the Pork Belly were heaven. The Prime Rib was good, not as spectacular, although I loved the mashed potatoes and spinach sauté that came with it. Oh and the waitresses and sommelier-ette! Very fun & excellent service! Classy! We wandered around the hotel, too, and it looks great. Beautifully remodeled and given a distinctly Artsy hipness and flash - but comfortable; the two lobby Bars and are beautiful. What looks like huge skylights in the ceiling for daytime are wonderfully echoed at night by geometric shadows, up, from chandeliers. So five stars for delicious food and excellent service - if the restaurant is any guide, the hotel should be five stars, too.
I booked and paid for a room here 10 weeks in advance of my visit. a couple days before my visit my credit cards were stolen, so my bank issued me a temporary card, but did not have my name stamped on it. I had passport plus 2 other forms of government picture I.D. that was already paid for. they knew I just flew in from out of the country, had no car, and didn't know anyone around, they didn't care, so they threw me out on the street at 8:00 pm on a Friday night. Oh ya, they were also charging fire evacuees a heck of a lot more than I paid 10 weeks prior. that's real classy.
The art work from graffiti/street artists fill the hotel walls. Not the regular run of the mill cookie cutter hotel that you are use too. Yes the bathrooms are small and the rooms are not the biggest in the world, but they are laid out with style. Nightlife happens at the bar pretty much every night with proper drinks being served. Very well thought out interior design with a great staff to boot. The parking for this area is too high and scarce.(This is the only hang up that I have with the place) There is a trendy coffee shop attached to the hotel and they have great morning food. The prices again are something to be amazed, but the sandwiches are worth it. The view at night time from my room was pretty good on the 12th floor. The walk to the staples center is not far along with all the downtown bars and restaurants close by.
Stayed at the Mayfair for 5 nights this week! Such a great location, 5 minutes walk from any downtown highlights! The lobby has a trendy bar, where you can sit with a laptop or enjoy a drink. The front desk is very helpful whether with bottle of water or printing services. I believe hotel also provides transportation within 3 miles I believe, but I haven't used it. Housekeeping is great, they realized I like the light blanket and didn't tuck the thick one in every night! that was very thoughtful and I didn't have to remove it every night. The AC is great, slept like a baby! Overall a great place to stay if you need to be in the center of LA, 20 minutes from pasadena, 30 min from airport and right in downtown.
Best hotel to stay in. Very clean friendly staff convenient to downtown LA. And tours pick up and drop off from hotel. Cafe here is amazing coffee is great. Don’t believe bad reviews. Planning a trip stay here 🇦🇺 🇺🇸
The hotel is quite old and the rooms are tiny, and run down. The bed was not comfortable. The carpet was stained. The bathroom looked dingy. The hotel staff was absent, slow, and unfriendly. They mostly treated you like you were an annoyance instead of a paying customer. Too expensive for the room type, bed, and atmosphere. The lobby was cool, but the rooms were not. I was there for a work conference. Our Whole group experienced the same environment. Won’t stay again.
The hotel staff were all welcoming, helpful, and responsive to our needs. The hotel is clean, updated, and comfortable, with smallish rooms but large enough for the comfort of 2 people. It is located at the edge of downtown, within easy walking distance of downtown shopping/restaurants, and the Staples Center. Easy to get transportation to other sporting venues (i.e. Dodgers Stadium). The restaurant inside has wonderful food and staff as well. We would definitely stay at the Mayfair again!
Now think of the pictures on the hotel's website. And then think of everything there as being kinda run-down, a little dysfunctioning, and a little dusty. So, it is not terrible and it is not unlike the pictures. It is just not that good. I stayed only 1 night (I was in town for business) and it was totally fine for that. The faucet was broken (water kept running), so they changed my room with no trouble. The staff was generally very nice and helpful. But if you want to stay here for holiday and you think 'wow, stylish", I'd say you won't feel the glamour. I was glad it was just one-night stay in my case. (Side note: They also booked a shared shuttle to airport for me for $19. Super convenient.)
