As a Marriott platinum for life family and Vacation Club members I can say that this has been our worst Marriott experience. We have been here for 3 weeks. It began when we entered our room which reeked of mildew and found a fan running on the carpet futilely attempting to expunge the odor unsuccessfully. We changed rooms. We made our reservations a year in advance but we were advised shortly before we arrived that there would be some “minor”construction work while we were here. From what I can tell, my wife and I are the only guests in our building. Everyone else is a construction worker running heavy equipment 12 hours a day. This is disgraceful. Yes, this place is rundown and certainly needs to be upgraded but I did not anticipate needing a hard hat to maneuver around the resort during the day. Marriott Vacation Club needs to treat their customers with some respect. Shame on you.
The location is accessible to tons of shopping, restaurants, beaches, and attractions. Our room was nice and overlooked the gorgeous, heated outdoor pool. The staff was friendly and had several activities planned each day. Unfortunately, most activities were cancelled and my husband and I were unable to venture out very much because of a winter storm that decided to dump snow and ice and pretty much shut the city down. Despite being stuck in, it was a very pleasant stay. We would definitely love to go back during better weather conditions and enjoy the full experience.
We had a nice view, suite 6403. We loved the property. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Thank you Josselyn for organizing early check in and all other activities in a very nice resort. We found the facilities to be very clean. Overall, this is a very nice place to stay within walking distance to all outside activities that Shelter Cove has to offer.
We were there for a week. First a word to the wise - the WIFI dropped off about every half hour. If you are on any type of data plan your phone/device will switch over to data from WIFI costing you mucho dollars until you sign back in. A bit of a pain. The furniture is old and uncomfortable. The place needs painted & the color choices appear to be random. That said - room layout was fantastic, rooms were clean, service when requested showed up within 10 minutes of a call. Facility is well run & I would recommend it if you need to go to Hilton Head.
Our family of 6 stayed here on Sunday, December 10 - Thursday, December 14, 2017. We checked in on Sunday evening. Our check in hostess was Josslyn. She greeted us very pleasantly and gave us the layout of the land. We received a map, activities calendar, room keys and our parking pass to be placed on our dashboard. The units are a bit old, however ours was pretty nice. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with a king, 2 twins and a sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress. The unit came with a full kitchen, dishes, dishwasher, stackable washer/dryer, laundry detergent, and dish washer powder. There is a balcony with several chairs and I love that the sliding glass door has a latch on it for safety. There are plenty of activities, hot dogs and mainly free of charge. We enjoyed an ice cream social, s'mores by the fire pit, and hot dogs and brats. They have jumbo connect four, chess and bean bag toss, outside BBQ grills, pools and a fire pit. There are plenty things to do on the island.
Headed back to Florida found this gem. The room was cozy and clean. The fireplace was a nice touch. There was mixed reviews which made me hesitant on stopping here. I'm glad that I did. The place was charming and relaxing. I was in room 512 that had a beautiful view. Yes, the furniture is a little dated but renovations are coming. The beds were comfortable and clean. The breakfast is continental, I would like to see more hot options in the future. This is a nice resort and I would definitely stay here again. I would recommend speaking to the front desk if you have a problem with your room to allow them the opportunity to remedy the situation.
I stayed 11/24 to 11/26 in Suite 6101. I loved the property. The staff was nice and helpful. The harbor view was great. The bikes and the pool were very nice. The room though slightly dated was huge and better than expected. But the room smelled horribly of mildew. I have asthma and my mom would not let me stay in the master bedroom the smell was so,strong. We tried candles and airing the place out. We did not complain to the staff until checkout because it was such a short stay. I regret that because it was never really bearable. I am not sure if the smell was just in room 6101, I hope so because other than the big stinky mildew smell I would have rate this property a 5.
We had a lovely view, room 205 in the Osprey building, an end until with a view from almost every window. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. There were many more resort activities than most timeshares we have stayed in and many were free. We rented bikes from the resort at a very reasonable rate and enjoyed biking to the beach. We found the facilities to be very clean. Overall, it was a relaxing, peaceful week and we would definitely return to this resort.
We had booked a three night stay and were really looking forward to a great time in our favorite city. The front desk assistants were very polite so that was good. The big problem was with the room. We checked the twin beds, they looked like someone had just tidied up the bed but when we looked at the sheets you could tell that they hadn’t been changed, wrinkles and hair in both. The master bed looked ok but some wrinkles and then bam we saw bugs crawling in the bed. Needless to say we didn’t stay and want return.l
Much of Hilton Head is stuck in the 80’s. This is not an exception. Low popcorn ceilings, nondescript honey brown furniture, golden sheer plaidish curtains. We were put in a handicap accessible room which always is a negative. They use super cheap garbage bags, so thin you can’t open them. They don’t bother to, they just lay them on the trash cans. So I didn’t bother to either after I fought with one and lost. The plus is tat there are plenty of towels & ver clean. Maid service speedy.
