Marriott's Harbour Point and Sunset Pointe at Shelter Cove

Harbour Point is a beautiful place to stay on Hilton Head without breaking the budget. 9 of us went down to HH and stayed in 3 rooms usine my vacation club points. The property is on the Atlantic Ocean but on the other side of the island a short walk from Shelter Cove. Though not on the ocean, you're only a short free bus ride (Dunes Buggy) from the ocean. Or, you're a 2 mile bike ride via the many rental bikes on the property. We were close to everything. Shopping was a short trip. Eateries closer. Little kids activities (3 grandkids 9, 3, &3) closer. Golf is everywhere with many courses offering Marriott discounts. Also, many places offer discounts to Marriott vacationers. Our rooms were all 2 BR / 2 BA with complete kitchen, washer dryer, living /dining area and a large balcony. One BA has a whirlpool tub with shower, the other has a stall shower. The property was beautiful with a large salt water family pool and a quiet "serenity" pool with a fire pit and gazebo. We stayed in the Pelican building on the top (5th) floor. View was very nice and our side caught the morning sun while our grown kid's (& their families) rooms faced the pool and had afternoon sun. When we come down here again, we're thinking of requesting the Osprey building as it has an unobstructed view of the wildlife and activities on the Harbor River. There is no full time concierge (Sat. Sun. only), but the front desk staff were very helpful with things to do. The Shelter Cove area is a great place to stroll or rent a boat for a water excursion. We used Outside Hilton Head and would recommend it. There are places to do your own fishing and the shops are interesting and not overpriced. Your TV is excellent and will accommodate a ROKU stick. There is one in each BR and a large one in the living room. Don't watch too much TV. Get out and experience a great island and property. One sad note - Hurricane Matthew destroyed the golf practice net and it was not replaced. When we return to Hilton Head, this is our property of choice.

We had a great family vacation here!! Lots of free giveaways, nice events for all ages, close to the harbour, cheap week long bike rentals. Amazing! Salt water pool, fireworks every Tuesday in the summer for free. All around great vacation and would definitely recommend to anyone!

My Mom and I frequent Hilton Head Island as often as possible. This year when we planned our vacation, the only place that had availability was Marriott's Harbour Point and Sunset Point. It did not face the ocean, we were very disappointed but didn't have another place to stay, so we booked. When we got to our room and saw the views we were stunned. The views of the March lands are gorgeous. You can see dolphins, pelicans and oyster beds. Sunsets are out of this world! Another great aspect of this resort is the activities director, Josslyn. She took is on an excursion to the Hilton Head Distillery and to the Buffton Farmers Market. Her calendar at the resort is jam packed! From crafts, making s'mores every night, water exercise, mid-day cookouts and pool parties! She was a joy to be around! We would come back in a heat beat!

The property: Not very big, but a nice layout. A cluster of buildings situated so that almost all of the rooms have a view of some part of the water or pool areas. Two pools, one small and shallow (and very warm in August), the other larger and with a whirpool/hot tub adjacent. The large pool area provided the perfect vantage point for the Tuesday night fireworks. Ample lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas. The resort is on a quiet dead end road along with other private condos and a marina and restaurant a short walk away. The rest of the Shelter Cove area is filled with shops, restaurants and bike paths. The beach is a quick drive or relaxing bike ride away (and a Marriott shuttle is available too). The rooms: Ours was clean and quiet on the second floor overlooking the smaller pool and a roomy balcony had a perfect view of the sunset over the water. A/C worked great, nice full kitchen, washer/dryer, large whirlpool tub and large shower in the master bathroom, which was completely open to the master bedroom. We have two children (5 and 11), and the second smaller bedroom was perfect for them, but I could not see two adults being especially comfortable in that bedroom with the two single beds. The staff: Exceptionally friendly, warm and helpful. Every day had several activities going on for all ages to choose from. Conclusion: I would stay here again. Last time in HHI (2010) we stayed at the Marriott's Grande Ocean on the beach, and that resort I'd rate slightly better simply because it was a larger property with many pools and easy beach access steps away.

A very nice property, activities staff pleasant and fun. Bike rentals, but I would like them to have proper helmets for everyone. We were here for the last night of fireworks in the season and had a great view right off our balcony. Beach access is nice but a bit far away, other properties like Disney have better beachside facilities. 2BD and 2BA suite was well kept but a couple of housekeeping lapses. They were promptly corrected upon reporting and the desk called for followup both times, well done. I understand the no housekeeping during the stay in this timeshare resort, but collecting trash would be nice so that guests don't find themselves after dark at the dumpsters with 5 raccoons, they were enjoying the resort too!

The grounds of this resort are beautiful and well maintained and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the pool, the grills and just walking around the grounds which have beautiful water views. The room we were in had a nice view of the pool and the creek. The room was decent, but could use a bit of TLC in some areas. The kitchen and living areas were nice and comfortable and looked like they had been recently updated. We loved the deck which was spacious and great for dining outside. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need and it was larger than most of the kitchens we've had in other vacation club properties. The bathrooms could use a bit more help. The countertop and the tiles all looked like they had been recently updated. But, the jacuzzi bathtub had certainly seen better days. The tub jets were rusty and the bottom of the tub was stained from people's feet. I won't have used it as tub. The tub molding was hanging off the side as well. The second bathroom shower was a nice size and looked updated. The air conditioning unit was an issue for the bedrooms and our biggest issue. It felt like neither bedroom was getting any cool air during the night. We had to keep getting up and turning the air down. We kept the curtains pulled shut during the day because the sun came directly into the room and did heat up the master. But the cooling issue was also a problem in the second bedroom which didn't get any direct sunlight. We had a two bedroom unit and the bedrooms were on the smaller size as compared to other vacation clubs we've stayed. Our two teens shared the second bedroom and it was tight. I really don't think we would have been comfortable here if our other two children had come with us and we had had to use the sofa bed. This was also the most uncomfortable bed we've ever had at a Marriott. I normally look forward to sleeping at any Marriott because the beds are so comfy. It rained very heavily while we were there one night and floors were so flooded that the water poured into one of the building elevators causing it to stop working. Perhaps this is just an issue because of the openness of the building. The resort is located in a great area and we enjoyed the access to the Shelter Cove Marina and the bike ride to the beach from here. I think with just a bit of work this resort could be a gem.

The location on the Marsh in Hilton Head was peaceful. Fireworks were right in front of the resort, which was nice. Master bedroom is big, but the 2nd bedroom and bathroom was very small. Free shuttles to the beach were helpful, but I would not go back to this resort.

The staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly. loved the gazebo and the serenity pool. had a lot of fun activities for children and families. a very short walk to the marina and boutiques. nice size kitchen, living room. The smaller of the two bedrooms was small and very little room to move around in bedroom. There was no space or room to set down anything on the dresser or night stand as they had lamps, clock and tv. The smaller bedroom window looked out to the walkway between rooms. It was quite a trek to the ocean. the hotel is on the harbor . enjoyed the family activites and pool.

Will start off by saying this was a last minute long weekend reservation. I did not want to deal with crowds at the Marriott beachfront hotel. I knew that the majority of this vacation club guests would be weekly vacationers/owners. I expected a so-so unit. I was very disappointed in the unit's condition. Unit 6201 was surface clean. It is in desperate need of new grout and caulk everywhere. The unit has seen better days. I would not recommend Sunset Building unit 6201. It had a very limited view of Broad Creek. I think the Osprey Building would be best bet as far as location within the resort and water views. The 2 pools were clean and had plenty of chaises with a sunshade option. This is a nice, quiet resort with easy access to Shelter Cove shopping, restaurants and activities. You would want to ride a bike or take the shuttle to the beach if carrying any beach gear. We will return to Marriott's Barony Beach for future visits. We have stayed there before. It is worth the extra money to ensure updated more spacious accommodations, easy beach access and plenty of activities for children.

We stayed at the Marriott's Harbour Point and Sunset Pointe at Shelter Cove in early June. This is a nice, family friendly Marriott property on the bay side of Hilton Head. Check in was excellent- we were given information on the property amenities as well as the activities on site for the week. We were also told about nearby activities and how to access the beach using the free HH shuttle service. We stayed in a 2BR/2Ba unit overlooking the smaller of 2 pools and the bay. Very peaceful. Unit is clean and has a fully stocked kitchen. Unfortunately, there is not a pantry in the kitchen and limited cabinet space for storing groceries. There is no separation between the master BR and bath, and a large whirlpool tub located in the master bath. The second bath is small but fine for a guest bath. The property has several grills (never a wait), 2 pools, hot tubs, a fire pit, tennis courts, corn hole, and shuffleboard. There are lots of marine birds to see since you look out on to the bay. Location is great if you're ok not being on the beach. Overall, great property, just needs a bit of updating.
