No WiFi in rooms. The view was great. Only stayed one night.

We were placed in a room right next to a wedding party/dance outside.. With jet lag we wanted to turn in early. The walls were vibrating from the loud music and DJ voice. . Even if we were not tired and just wanted to spend time in our room it would have been impossible. What a crappy start. The qualify of the resort and the room are not up the the standard the promo picture depicts. It’s at best a 2 star out of 5.

This hotel has a great location to beaches, various types of restaurants, shopping, and more. As shown by the photos, the setting is lovely, making it nice to sit in the comfortable chairs that overlook the ocean and hear the surf. However, if you like a softer mattress, this is NOT the place for you. We also could not believe that this hotel still does not offer free Wi-fi. There is no hot tub on the property, and it seems like it would have been easy to make the pool an infinity pool.

The best view! Bar, pool, and lagoon we're our favorite spots by the sea!

Beautiful views, centrally located, We will stay here again!

Great hotel property, super staff, and great location. The only improvement that could be made would be to have better shower heads .... maybe visit the Hale Koa in Oahu (we stayed there before going to the Big Island and we loved their shower heads).

Great views virtually from all rooms. right next to the ocean and couldn't get much better. Decent Happy hour every night. Pool was small and no hot tub. Rooms very clean and comfortably, mini-fridge but no microwave. Parking was $10/day

Can't beat the location for downtown Kona. Hotel is older but well maintained and clean, comfortable with fabulous views of ocean and downtown Kona. Staff friendly and efficient. I live in South Kona and stayed in town for canoe race to be close to festivities. Was a great choice and will return again.

Visited during Hurricane Lane. We were a little disappointed in the bar food.

Right on the ocean. Close to shopping and restaurants. No swimable beach but small one close. Rooms small, dated and patio not private can look right into next rooms patio. Grounds kept nicely.

Close to the beach. Expensive breakfast buffet, not included in room price. Good location for walking the tourist area.

Nice view, maybe one of the best. But. The hotel is old and in need of update. I wouldn't consider it a resort. Small pool and nice beachfront bar. Near all shops and restaurants. Having an old room voids every good thing about it.

Hotel is a bit dated....charged for wifi, thought that was ridiculous

Generally, it is nice. It is a bit old but well maintained. Good location. Parking with a fee.

nice hotel close to the beach, clean rooms, excellent staff

Nice view and friendly staff. Parking and breakfast a little expensive.

Hotel is waterfront with restaurants and shopping just a short walk away

The resort itself was very nice, the check in was awkward. We arrived and I listened to the deskclerk say to the customers in front of us that he had been putting up with people from Washington for hours (we are from WA) so that set the tone for what was coming next, I stepped up to the desk and already feeling as if im going to be mistreated as he was clearly tired of dealing with people, proceded tp tell me they had no reservation in our name (I had made reservations weeks prior through Orbitz) after about 30 minutes they found our reservation number in the name of Brown from Texas for December. I patiently waited while they corrected their issue. Said little to nothing about standing around for 45 minutes at midnight. I felt luke they wanted it to be my fault, I was extremely disapointed in the spitit of Aloha we first experienced on the Big Island. Thankfully, our experience got better the next day, the staff at the bar and restaurant were awesome! Accomodating and and deserve to be mentioned. The rest of our time and check out was very nice. As an employer myself, I would suggest to management that the front desk help on Thursday June 28th at midnight staff find jobs where tourist from anywhere wont bother them, this was a tourist resort, after all, shame on him.

The Royal Kona is located at the end of the strip and is a great location. The resort is a little dated but is still a great place to stay.
