The weather in Kona is absolutely perfect! Might like living there. Will check out Delta airlines next time.
The corner king room was too big for one person but I loved it, especially the huge balcony. Lovely views and sounds of the ocean.
Really dated property. They have kept the grounds nice but rooms need a remodel. Poor mattress, pillows and sheets. Cockroach fell on me when opening closet door. Great location!
Room was Ok but dated Beds very small Great view and location saw whales off our balcony first morning
I have an issue in the reception with Diane because I made a mistake paying only to January 4th, at 10:00 am was the checkout and we flight on the night, so I request to her an additional day on the same room and she said it is not available, she change us to the next room, but with a very bad attitude, very rude manner and very impolite. This incident was reported to the manager which will be very polite and professional manage, I understand why she is the manager.
the room needs serious updating & 2 small double beds
Watched dolphins and boats right off restaurant patio in the morning. Beautiful views and right near lots of restaurants. Hotel restaurant too pricey, but happy hour drinks good deal. Rocky coastline. Clean, comfy room.
Room was very nice with a great view of the bay! Friendly staff and great location.
Awesome besthave stayed there several times over the years always be satisfied true Hawaii love it
Nice hotel. Comfortable. Good location. Yummy food and drinks.
The resort itself has good amenities if you want to relax in resort. Has private salt water lagoon, pool, next to sea and if you are in a ocean view room good views also. Resort also has good Luau in perfect setting on an additional fee . What is not good about the resort is that it really needs renovation of rooms. Carpet smells and not so clean inside.
The resort staff were excellent and responsive. We love this place and like to come each year for our anniversary trip.
Good location but room had bugs and they did not have the room we requested when we arrived. They really didn't seem to care either. Hotel restaurant was pricy and drinks were okay but did not live up to the hype of the original Mai Tai.
My family & I enjoyed very much staying at your hotel ! Best hotel & thank u so much for all service!
I had a great time in kona, the hotel is decent def needs to be renovated but it's not that bad it has great potential. the pool is nice but they close it early everyday and there is no jacuzzi, and no room service, everything seamed ok until I got up at 11pm to use the bathroom and there was a baby roach, I killed it and got over it at 3am I got up again to use the bathroom and there was about 6 roaches small n big I freaked out called the front desk n asked them to move me asap the manager offer to move rooms but told me that it is not guaranteed that I wouldn't see roaches again in the next room she blamed it on the weather, I moved rooms and she gave me a horrible view I originally had a ocean view she gave me a room with a view of the back of an old rusty building and told me I would have to pay extra if I wanted a better view, I end it up staying in the same room with the roaches they claimed to have sprayed it but they were still there night and day, because of the manager wouldn't upgrade me to a better room with no roaches I don't think I can stay there again I was truly grossed out n could not even use the bathroom comfortably
We stayed here while visiting Kona. The first room was right next to an elevator that made a horrible noise. The staff quickly relocated us. The room was comfortable but dated and needed some upkeep.... paint in bathroom.... etc.
The Royal Kona is a good hotel for the money in a prime location within walking distance to the restaurants, bars, and shops while still located on the ocean-front. The feel of the hotel is quite nice and resort-like with its open lobby and bar. Staff were nice and helpful. However, the hotel is aging and it's very obvious. The rooms are dated and amenities are very noticeably dated and worn. The carpet looks clean but is not. Walking barefoot on the carpet will quickly blacken the underneath of your foot. A dead bug near the bedside lamp stayed there the entire 5 days of our stay (was there upon first entering the room), proving that room cleaning was a minimal effort. The hotel is nice but needs renovation as the rooms look like they weren't touched since the 90's. The condition of the bath/shower reveals the age of the rooms as the shower head was decades old and needed replacement or thorough cleaning. That being said, I don't regret staying at the Royal Kona. The hotel is a good deal and the location is excellent. I just think it really needs to be renovated if it wants to remain competitive with nicer resort hotels in the Kona area. It's the value and location that make this hotel attractive, but it's far from "luxurious" even with our ocean-view room. While the price was lower than the Sheraton down Ali'i Drive, there is a stark contrast in the amenities and feel of the two hotels. The Sheraton is obviously more upscale though less convenient in location.
Hotel is in the heart of tourist area with lots of bars & restaurants with a scenic ocean front location. Unfortunately it is very dated. By that I mean cracks, mold, smelly. All that might have been overlooked since the view is grand. But when staff tells you $10/day to park & $10/day for internet service annoyance sets in. The best part was leaving in the morning to go sightseeing the rest of the island.
Great location, decent hotel bar (the 1944 Mai Tai is patterned on the original and well balanced), great views from the corner rooms with private balconies. Some will I am sure find it dated and cheesy, but I liked the retro feel.
The location was very good, secluded and close to Airport. Check in counter was open and stately. They have a great bar area right next to where surf breaks. The room had very good ocean view pretty much like an ocean front room. The room looked little dated with older furniture and bed was little soft. The balcony was great but can pose security issue because the people from next room can easily climb over. The dining room was open only for breakfast but bar had very good menu to make up for it. Overall, very good hotel and I would like to go and stay there on my next visit. I would also recommend this resort to my friends and family.
