Royal Kona Resort

My family has been utilizing this hotel in many ways for most of my life. It's an oldie but goody, with a lot of Old Hawaii charm. Sure its rough around the edges. It has survived every storm since being built in 1968 as the Kona Hilton. This hotel is part, and really the pillar of the historic Kona town. Sits out on it's own point as a landmark not to be missed, or beacon showing you the way. It has always been quiet and layed back town, this is not Waikiki! Slower, calmer and very walkable. Its only .8 tenths of a mile from the Royal Kona Resort to the King Kam Marriot at the end of the bay. So book here, dont look to closely at what needs to be painted or touched up or remodeled. Stay here because the hotel is in the best, on the ocean location In Kona, great bar and staff. Pool and an ocean swimmable lagoon. Best views! Just relax in old hawaii and remeniss in the atmosphere of what it was like in the 60's and 70's !

This hotel needs a little love - drawers smelled musty - coffee pot needs to be replaced and the heating element was rusted and the toilet paper holder was rusted -

We knew that the resort was older, but to our surprise it had all the amenities that was needed for us to enjoy our time in Kona. It's proximity to where all the action is in Kona was perfect for everyone who came to attend a friends wedding. I just wish there was a sandy beach on the property. A short fixed our fix on a nice beach.

Everyone was super kind and accommodating. And I loved the view

I feel the hotel needs a new make over to keep up in 2017 it's real old feeling

There's a bar and pool right next to the ocean. Within walking distance of wonderful restaurants and cute little shops!! I'm going to stay there again!!!

Room was big and clean, even if parts of the hotel were a little dated. Kids really enjoyed the pool on the water, and we had fun at the Luau. The staff was all very friendly.

Explore the island, then return to the Royal Kona for a good night's sleep and yummy happy hour food and drinks (at great prices.) If you want a luxury beach hangout go to the 5-star hotels in North Kona, but if you need a starting point in a great location for your island excursions choose the Royal Kona Resort. Dated but clean, fun, hotel overlooking the ocean.

This hotel was great! Great views of the ocean and the pool overlooking the ocean made it that much better. The staff was very friendly and the room was very spacious. It was within walking distance of pretty much everything in Kona, which kept us from having to drive everywhere to grab food or drinks. Two thumbs up for sure!

Very clean and peaceful. Food was great and loved the pool.

The weather in Kona is absolutely perfect! Might like living there. Will check out Delta airlines next time.

The corner king room was too big for one person but I loved it, especially the huge balcony. Lovely views and sounds of the ocean.

Really dated property. They have kept the grounds nice but rooms need a remodel. Poor mattress, pillows and sheets. Cockroach fell on me when opening closet door. Great location!

Room was Ok but dated Beds very small Great view and location saw whales off our balcony first morning

I have an issue in the reception with Diane because I made a mistake paying only to January 4th, at 10:00 am was the checkout and we flight on the night, so I request to her an additional day on the same room and she said it is not available, she change us to the next room, but with a very bad attitude, very rude manner and very impolite. This incident was reported to the manager which will be very polite and professional manage, I understand why she is the manager.

the room needs serious updating & 2 small double beds

Watched dolphins and boats right off restaurant patio in the morning. Beautiful views and right near lots of restaurants. Hotel restaurant too pricey, but happy hour drinks good deal. Rocky coastline. Clean, comfy room.

Room was very nice with a great view of the bay! Friendly staff and great location.

Awesome besthave stayed there several times over the years always be satisfied true Hawaii love it
