Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The staff were nice and friendly. The hotel room was a different matter, because the air conditioning unit didn't function properly. It only went on or off, the temperature control was not working. So, it would quickly get too cold no matter what temperature it was set at and didn't turn off when sliding door to balcony was opened like it was supposed to, making the room in general somewhat uncomfortable. The refrigerator also leaked water on the inside and the shower only put out a little water. In other words, this hotel is charging a lot of money for a mediocre room. The hotel lobby and common area rugs were wrinkled and looked a little old. The parking rate of $17.71 a day was too much considering the in and out gate didn't always work very well and it was sometimes hard to find a good space. I would not recommend this hotel.

The staff was wonderful, responding rapidly to our special requests for a crib, a razor, towels. even giving us free parking when we were in a tight spot. The beach was kind of chilly due to freshwater mixing in (late November). The pool and jacuzzi were great and clean with great service. The room sort of needs a facelift. Room was small, room door was awkward to enter due to obstructive location of closet, furniture, paint, and decor were not modern. Dust bunnies under chairs desks and lamps. Balcony was nice with a good view of the mountains and Kona and a bit of the ocean. Altogether nice, but has room for modernization and improvement.

It was an ok stay! Convenient is all. Never had to pay for parking as an extra while staying at a hotel!

I missed my connection flights and lost two days. Orbitz spoke with the manager Pia but nothing was done for me even though I extended my stay. Pia did not return messages. I was disappointed..

Lovely 5 days at the hotel. Beautiful view, fantastic luau!!!!!! Wish we had stayed at your hotel the whole 10 days in Hawaii! Thank you. My only complaint is I had a unpleasant experience with a female concierge. So very unhelpful for what I thought was a simple enough request. We just figured something else out without having to ask her for anything again.

Great hotel, nice beach, food is a little pricy but there are a lot of restaurants near by

Overall the hotel was nice and the location is great. My boyfriend needed to iron his shirt but there was calcium build up in the iron and stained his nice shirt he wanted to wear for dinner. I was dissapointed we the fact that it seems as though the room is overlooked when it is "cleaned"

I had a good time staying at the hotel, nice buffet in the morning if you don't want to go out to eat, good view of the pier and the beach, nice pool area, the only thing I would suggest would be to have a shower for the hotel guests so we don't have to use the one at the pier when you are coming back from the beach

Disappointed with the room condition and amenities.. Hotel is tired and showing its age!!!!

The hotel location was nice, but the staff were not. The bathroom was stinky and the tub was clogged I called the cleaning crew several times to get it fixed. after no luck getting anything done I walked downstairs and talked to the front desk manager in hope to get it fixed , she said we will take care of it no worries. I left that morning and came back at night to the same stinky clogged bathroom. After 3 days of trying to fix the bathroom I gave up because I didn't want to disturb my vacation any longer. I am very disappointed with how the they handled the situation to say the least.

Good location, access to lagoon for snorkeling and kayaking. Value for money.

one night stay, convenient for what we needed to do in Kona

Always the best choice after flying in to the big island.. Good service and a quality experience at this historic hotel.

Love that the room had a view to the ocean and I was close to beach with activities close by and everything was within walking range.

Overall a very good hotel without being overpriced.

very nice hotel. nice small beach. most staff very helpful. front desk could do more re info on airport shuttles How, When and maybe Who to book.

I really liked this hotel. Everyone who worked there was very nice and friendly, from the parking staff, to the front desk, and everyone else I ran into in the hallway. The hotel is filled with interesting historical artifacts which I found very interesting. The hotel and room was very comfortable and the location was great. The infinity pool was cool. I would stay here again.

Hotel staff are very accomdating and friendly. There are many good places for different countries' food. Take your own toothbrush and toothpaste, there are no one time dispensable tools in the hotel.

They have the nerve to charge me 250.00$for smoking.they are not the city, how can a hotel impose a fine to a guest?

Thanks for your comments, Nate! I'm happy to let you know that we have started a year long project that will be addressing some of your feedback. We are upgrading and updating all of our public and lobby areas, along with all of our guest rooms, too. We hope you'll revisit us sometime in 2019 to see what we've done. Thanks again for your feedback!

Aloha Patty, We apologize for the condition of the iron and I have shared your comments about this with our Housekeeping Director to address with her staff members. I hope you were able to mention this to our front desk as they would have been able to switch out the iron as well as to assist with the shirt. Mahalo and once again apologize for the problem. Mahalo!

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. We were considering placing an outdoor shower on our property, however, we would see an immediate use of that facility by non hotel guests. Mahalo!

We are very sorry for your experience which was not typical of our hotel's service. I believe you have spoken to our Assistant General Manager and your situation has been resolved. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
