Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Good no frills hotel room for the money. Breakfast was adequate -- better than it looked, really. No elevator a drawback for elderly with bad knees having to lug suitcases upstairs. Would stay here again but on the first floor.
This is a bit of a mixed review. The bed was comfortable enough, but the room felt stuffy and the air conditioner was a little loud to be left on all night. Having said that, it was clean and met our needs. The breakfast was extremely well done and the staff person looking after the place should be commended. There was a good selection of eggs, yogurt, waffles (plain and apple cinnamon), cold cereal, and so much more. The place was well stocked, kept hot and clean. The price felt like a bit much for Hamilton, but I guess it was too bad considering it was a long weekend that we were there and it was difficult to find anywhere with a room available at all. I guess the big question is "Would I stay there again"? Yep... for sure.
Stayed Friday night for a wedding not far away. This property is dated for sure, HOWEVER the staff make the place. Each employee we interacted with was pleasant. Rooms are functioning but again dated. My only real recommendation would be to remove the carpets and install laminate. Much cleaner feel. Breakfast was surprisingly good, almost up to Hampton Inn standards, we were surprised. Would definatly book again if we happened to be in this part of town.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. Here's why: 1. Upon arrival, no one was at the front desk. And I mean no one. I called and called, but no one appeared. Then I took to shouting. Still no one. I even looked behind the desk to see if someone had a medical condition befall them. Or had been mugged. Finally, while standing in the lobby, I phoned the desk and let it ring about 20 times only to get cycled through a message machine. Eventually, after about ten minutes of this insanity, the front desk clerk appeared and said she'd been doing laundry. I said, "Why don't you at least leave a sign on the desk notifying guests of your whereabouts and time of expected return?" All I got was a blank stare. 2. I had booked and paid for a king size room, but was given a queen. I was told it was because I requested a pet friendly room and there are no pet friendly king size rooms. OK, it was a misunderstanding, but I should have been notified ahead of time so I could have decided whether or not the booking I received was acceptable. (The hotel later explained that the individual hotel units do not receive special reservation requests -- i.e., "pet friendly" -- from the corporate booking center and, as such, the hotel reserves the right to make changes to the booking upon check-in. It's hard to believe that in this day and age there is such a lack of communication and coordination between the corporate booking facility and its member hotels. And the hotel therefore chooses to use this loophole as a sneaky way of absolving itself of properly notifying customers when a change will be made.) 3. The sliding door from the room to the outdoor parking lot was very stiff and partially off its track. 4. There were a bunch of guys two doors down sitting next to their truck and drinking beer until close to midnight. To say the least, they were not quiet. 5. The breakfast was barely passable as long as you stayed away from the eggs and sausage. 6. Finally -- and the biggest insult/annoyance of all -- is that the charge came through on our credit card about $50 higher than the quoted rate (including the additional charge for a pet). This is completely unacceptable and I'll now have to spend time trying to get to the bottom of this mess. (Two days later this issue was resolved when the bank re-posted the charge at the originally booked rate.) I DID send my complaints to the hotel and received a snidely defensive accusatory response. It was completely inappropriate and out-of-bounds.
Looking for a Hotel just off the QEW that is reasonably priced near a Shopping Mall and lots of Eateries. That has been renovated in the last little while. This place is for you. lots of parking and Rooms are very quiet. No elevators but if you do not do stairs stay on the bottom floor. CAA Members get a discount.
We stayed there because we booked late and it has easy access to the QEW. The hotel is dated and needs some TLC. The rooms were quiet and clean. The breakfast is really quite poor. There was one server who was completely overwhelmed because of the number of people in the dining area. She was doing her best but could not keep up to the demand. At any given time food items were empty, We stuck with cereal and yogurt and got out. Our second morning we ate out to avoid the chaos.
My wife and I stayed here last week, as we travelled thru the area. Excellent service from front desk staff and manager. Our room was clean, and comfortable. Air conditioning unit from room on top of ours ( #112) was quiet noisy but we still had a good nite's sleep.
We called this hotel looking for a room for the day as we were flying into Hamilton at 6am. We were informed on the phone that we could rent a room for the day and there WAS availability no problem, so we spent $60 on a cab to get to this hotel only to be informed when we got there that there was no availability and they don't know why their staff member told us they had it. I can say I am more then unimpressed with the service from the staff and would not recommend this hotel. I can not speak for the rooms or overall cleanliness of the hotel as we never got that far. I hope that other people have better experiences with this property but I am sure I will avoid it and be cautious in the future with other comfort inns.
Although this hotel gets good reviews, my experience was different. The room I was in had one of the loudest air conditioners I have ever seen. Sadly, it did nothing to cool or dry the room so the room was stuffy, smelly and humid. Between the racket from the rumbling AC and the stuffy room, good luck sleeping. That was too bad because the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. The breakfast was very good but started at 0630, which is too late for us. The back door to the hotel unlocks for guests when it wants to and the internet in my room was a spotty on/off affair. Work forces us to stay here otherwise I would stay in other Hamilton hotels in this price bracket that don't have these weaknesses. I told staff about all these issues and was told nothing could be done.
Nice room, quiet and has everything you need. Fridge, microwave and a sitting area which is a pull out couch. The tv is old as it has no usb port. We stayed in the upper floors as it is cheaper$116 with tax $132. Wifi is good and free streamed netflix with roku stick and no lag. Attended a wedding at the Grand Olympia its about 8 minutes away. Breakfast if free but you have to get downstairs before 10am as they are closed 10am sharp. Has a food store across the street to stock up. Back door wouldn't open the guy at the front desk said it was because of humidity but opened for our friends.They were good to let us stay to 11am as we were all party out and needed the extra time, but missed breakfast because of the 10 am sharp closing.
