My stay was decent, but I could hear whatever was happening in the room next door and in the hall outside my door. Thankfully, people were pretty quiet after midnight. But, I did not appreciate them playing music at 8 AM on a Saturday. The housekeeping staff did a good job cleaning up the room when I was out. Also, the staff at the front desk were friendly and accommodating. The water temperature in the bathroom was a little difficult to manage. It was either a little too cold or too hot in the shower. The water at the sink was only freezing for the first couple of days, but afterwards it got better and warmed up. The location of the hotel was very convenient for me. I was able to walk to almost everywhere I wanted to explore except for Chinatown.

My stay at Hyatt Place Chicago/River North could have been much better with just a bit of thoughtfulness. At every turn, I felt more like a transaction than a guest. I understand Hyatt is in the business of making money, but hospitality is just as important—and that part was missing during my visit. From the early check-in fee conversation to the murky water in my room and the lack of any real acknowledgment or apology, the experience felt impersonal and disappointing for a Hyatt property.

Not willing to cancel room reservation due to severe Chicago snow storm forcing me to leave town early. They don’t care if you use Hyatt again. I used hotel.com for the reservation and hotel.com was willing to agree to full or partial reservation, but when they called the Hyatt they refused and probably sold my empty room for a premium to others during a snowstorm.
