Hilton Chicago- Michigan Ave Cultural Mile

Ten years ago, we stayed in The Hilton-Chicago. It was magical. We stayed in a gorgeous room with two beds and two bathrooms. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Our week in Chicago was unforgettable, in no smal part due to our hotel. Fast forward, our daughter is considering SAIC. Without hesitation, we return to Chicago Hilton. Much has changed in the intervening decade. While the entrance, staircases and lobby are still beautiful, the lobby and front desk staff were missing or cold, bordering on hostile. We hauled our own bags as no doorman could be found. The front desk man dripped sarcasm as he checked us in. I mentioned being an HH member, and he audibly scoffed. Our stay still doesn’t appear in my HH account. We went up to our room, recalling the beauty of our previous trip. Disappointment. While this room did have two bathrooms, which was a wonderful plus, the room itself was tiny, cramped cold and decorated in a minimalist modern motel style that could have been anywhere. The heat didn’t work. When I picked up the Chicago book off the nightstand shelf, dust flew everywhere. The blankets were thin and worn, sandwiched between sheets. In the freezing room, this was insufficient, and there were no extras on closet shelves. Housekeeping had to be asked twice to come for one request.

Overall our stay was nice. The amenities were good. Only downfall is that room service was closed the entire time we stayed. Gym was nice: Decent equipment, lap pool, jacuzzi.

Too slow when checking in, about 30 mins, shower head in the room it was missing a gasket, bathroom wet all the time. Still a good hotel to stay.

Love the location. Staff is amazing. It is simple a beautiful hotel. Went at Christmas and the decorations, and the hussle and bussle certainly puts you in the holiday spirit! Going back in three weeks for more!

This hotel was nice but I’m surprised they didn’t charge me a elevator tax for using their elevators. Every little thing in this hotel, you pay for. Things that would be included with any other hotel stay are not here. The most frustrating being WiFi. Of course guests who are traveling probably are expecting WiFi at a hotel, but who expects to pay per day to use internet at a hotel?

The staff at registration gave us some recommendations on brunch restaurants, showed us pictures and how to get there. She upgraded my room from 1 king bed to 2 queen bed with city view. She even gave me wifi password for free. Super nice girl!!!!

It is in a prime location, however there is a park across the street from hotel that has live music, probably quite often and can be heard clearly in the front hotel rooms. The air conditioning was not the greatest, our room was hot and never really cooled down even when we adjusted the thermostat. Front desk said it takes a while.

Excellent facility, very satisfied parking charges to high.

Great Location on Michigan Ave, close to everything and the L. Lovely hotel with lots of nice amenities. It is a huge property used for conferences but a great value to stay in the heart of Chicago. Would highly recommend for a nice stay in a great location.

Over an hour to check in Dirty glasses left out in front of our door , and dirty sheets Window left open

Enjoyed the hotel, it's a long walk down the Magnificent Mile but still a great location across from the park and near so many restaurants. The onsite restaurant is very good.

The Hilton has a great location for visiting museums and shopping. The room was way over priced. It was small, had a window with a view of the roof, no exhaust fan in the bathroom, bathroom door handle had a loose screw and soap was rationed.

Perfect location for us. Directly across from the Millennium Park area and within 10 minute walking distances of both the Blue Line and Metra trains. There is a FedEx Office onsite for printing and shipping. The hotel is beautiful with brass doors, rich woods and opulent paintings. The rooms are nice and clean- a little on the small side. Good fitness area. Lots of eating options- all good. Staff is courteous and very helpful.

Kitty Osheas was great. The convenience of having a cafe to get breakfast was nice. Plenty of elevators so it was quick to get to your room.

The hotel was in a perfect location, close to everything we wanted to do in Chicago. We were able to walk everywhere.

Initially, as our room faced west, overlooking the 'Loop' trains which were obviously running constantly and very noisy, it was disturbing. However, as we got used to it, it was acceptable, and did not bother us too much! The hotel has a great history, and is really very impressive. The breakfast/brunch selection was a real treat!

Room was clean and comfortable. Had a great view. Choose this hotel because the location was close to family.

Clean, historic hotel. Close to public transit, easy walk to museum campus, Maggie Daley Park, Millenium Park. Very pleased with our choice for a quick getaway with our two young kids.

This hotel is beautiful, well maintained, and located in a lovely area with beautiful old buildings across from a park, close to Lake Michigan. The staff were very helpful and polite. We and even got a complimentary upgrade to a slightly better room. The room was very modern and the beds were super comfortable. The air conditioning system was very quiet. There were two sets of blinds on the windows-light blocking and transparent. Transportation options to the hotel from the airport were easy. We used a shuttle bus to the hotel and the subway on the return to the airport. The hotel is located within walking distance of many attractions and public transportation to others was easy and cheap. In the evenings, we walked to restaurants for dinner. It's a bustling area with many tourists and felt safe.
