Historically beautiful, the Ambassador is my first choice every time I stay in Chicago.

Pleasant hotel in good location. I recommend staying there!

Historic Hotel where the movie stars of yesteryear hung out.Restaurant on site had a great menu and excellent food. The bed was very comfortable and the showers had fast flowing hot water. The staff were helpful and pleasing. We enjoyed our stay at the Ambassador.

Nice place in a good location. Helpful staff. It was a challenge controlling the heat in the room vs. the marble and tile washroom. Minor improvements needed, but were noticed, in the washroom and thevliving area. Overall good and busy stay!

Would not recomend after new ownership needed to stay a extra nighr told me they were overbooked, but made resevation on orbitz

The rooms are very sparse. We had to ask for a fridge, coffee pot, and extra coffee cream, and sugar. Having been out all day came home to find room had not been cleaned or any fresh livens given. After speaking to manager we were given room credits, to use within the hotel. We used on a dinner, that was fabulous. The staff and manager couldn't have been any nicer or helpful( 5 Stars there). And they did make up for all the problems we encountered . So, over all a 4 stars, but probably would not stay again.

Cute with a hipster-y vibe. Very walkable neighborhood.

Best location in the neighborhood. Don't miss breakfast at the nearby Third Coast.

As expected-- older hotel, if expected brand new this is not your option. Appreciate it for what it is.

We arrived at 10 am from our flight. I had informed the hotel before arriving that we were there celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and would appreciate anything extra they could do to make it more special. The man at the front desk said our room wasn't ready, and they would call us when it was. No problem. Well the day went on and on and still no room. We called the hotel at 2:30 pm to be told the room would be ready at 3, which we know is the normal check in time, and that someone would call us. We received a call at about 3:30 pm telling us it was ready. It is extremely hard to believe that in 5 and a half hours no room was available especially considering that our friends showed up at 1 pm and got their room (same exact room layout we had) immediately. When I asked the girl at the front desk what the issue was her only response was there are different variables for the rooms. The hotels response to my Orbitz survey feedback was to discredit anything I say and tell me the room was ready at 3 pm. When I addressed the fact that I have family in the industry who has told me people are treated poorly who book through third party sites they denied it. Their other response was that they apologized and would use the feedback to help future guests. This just infuriated us more considering they just had told me they treat a guests equal yet we're avoiding resolving my issue and would accommodate future guests instead. Customer service at it's worst.

Water in shower very slow yo frain and one noisy ac unit. Otherwise a very nice hotel close to many great restaurants and bars in an upscale residential neighborhood.

We stay there for 4 nights. The room was cozy and the hotel in general has some charm about it although you can tell it’s old with some repolishing. The 2 star review is mainly on their breakfast service. We ate here 4 mornings in a row and 3 times in a row it’s was a disaster. The stuff looked frantic and lost. They kept forgetting to bring us the items ordered and when ordered it’s took at least 30 mins to get it, even tho it wasn’t that busy! It was a painful experience but due to lack of time we had to eat there which was a challenge on itself. The food is not bad, it’s the service that’s lacking. Won’t be coming back to stay there.

Close to Wrigley Field and subway stations. Hotel is in a convenient location.

Most of the issues stem from the experience in the bathroom. When we walked in the room smelled fresh. The room was a bit cramped, only one outlet worked which was in the bathroom, and there was surface mold on the shower ceiling in several areas. There was also caulk coming apart, which made the bathroom look cheap. The chair had a large stain on it when we arrived. The shower floor had a dip in it which made it hard to stand in. The shower also had the hot and cold signs mostly worn off and water coming out of the facet at the same time as the shower head was on. There was no ventilation in the bathroom so it made it steamy (cause of mold issues most likely). The door needed to stay open to use to de-fog the mirror. The vent for air in the bathroom had a large collection of dust in it. We were a family of 4 and there wasn’t enough linens, just for two people. On the positive side, the location was amazing and an untapped area of Chicago. Just a short walk to the beach. The restaurant booth one, while pricy was delicious. For breakfast, the website had one price and they charged us a different higher price on the bill, plus confused our order charging us for an extra side. The hotel staff were amazingly kind and helpful. This includes; doormen, front desk staff, and a cleaning lady that helped us get ice when the ice machine on our floor was being fixed. They did give us a $50 credit due to the outlets and surface mold. We may return if the bathrooms would be improved.

Every staff person we worked with was friendly and professional. We were very impressed. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is very lovely - walkable, close to the lake and restaurants, etc. For out stay we reserved a suite for 4 adults with 2 rooms - a bedroom and a living room area with a pull-out sleeper sofa. The room was very spacious and we had a lot of room to hang out with a long table, a large sofa and 2 arm chairs. However, the room had been setup for 2 people, not 4, meaning that there were only 2 sets of towels, 2 cups by the Keurig and no linens for the sleeper sofa. When we called down they brought up the towels and the linens for the sleeper sofa and offered to make it up for us but we wanted to setup it later and use the sofa so we declined. When we opened the sleeper sofa the mattress was the very old kind - thin and flat. Two people slept on it but they could feel the bars and both rolled into the middle all night. In addition, the sofa when not made up as a bed was quite uncomfortable to sit on. So overall the hotel is great in many ways but in our case there were some definite changes or upgrades that needed to be made.

We had a nice stay at this hotel, it was close to bars, restaurants and shopping. Close enough to walk. The food from the hotel restaurant was also excellent.
