Tides Folly Beach Hotel

We stayed with our 2 young children for a week. The views from the rooms are great. Hotel is older but they did a good job updating. Staff was helpful. Beds were comfortable. Room had minifridge. Free parking. Free wifi. Instant access to beach with showers to wash sand off. Hotel pool was older but very clean. Hotel is in walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops, and also playgrounds. Only downside was no towels provided for beach use, I should have brought my own. No place to hang wet swimsuits. And the walls were thin so we could hear people talking on the way to their rooms when the kids were trying to sleep. Balconies were too small for chairs but you can stand on them. It is dog friendly and there were a lot of dogs there. We would definitely stay here again. The views were amazing and the hotel was great for us. We like hotels with a history. It was great my husband could stay on the beach with my older child while I took the younger one in to nap since the hotel is on the beach.

The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facility itself seemed dated. We are not usually picky people but the restaurant and bar experience was not great. We paid for the location. Can't compliment the staff enough even though we were not happy with the accommodations. We probably will not stay here again, the room was not worth the money.

The hotel was in need of more housekeeping staff and towels. The women were all nice but our room was not serviced until mid afternoon all 5 days we were there. We could not shower when we wanted because no towels. This was very disappointing and our room was more costly than a 3 star hotel in Spartanburg. Our room was in need of maintenance. The lobby furniture was filthy and very worn. Overall very disappointed. Not a good value for the money.

The location of this hotel is excellent. The hotel staff was also very friendly. Rooms were very clean. It looks like a 4 star to a 5 star hotel. The pool side bar and fire pit are really good amenities. Can't believe it was 75F during Christmas time. I wish it has a indoor pool and a hot tub.

Spent 5 nights at the hotel. The lobby was very "beachy" looking and the staff were great. The Blu restaurant and bar on site was a nice touch, although better entertainment in the bar area on the weekend nights would be a plus. Great beach site to see the sunset and sunrise each day.

Hotel is beautiful. Bathroom was great and all the staff we met were outstanding. This is a busy spot with a great bar and restaurant oceanfront. It was nice to sit in a comfortable chair sipping a draft IPA and watching the ocean. Only drawback for all this popularity is finding parking as a hotel guest. The parking lot is supposed to be restricted but that must be hard to enforce. Still it was a nice stay

With only a couple days off it is the best place to feel as if you are far away from home

Staff cheerful. Loved oceanfront room and restraunt. Location close to great shops and restaurants. The decor was beautiful.

Great location: walk to restaurants/bars pier beach. Very friendly staff-got extra blankets and arranged transportation stored baggage with smiles. Did not try hotel restaurant because of lots of other places to choose. Definately would go back!

We loved the location of Tides Folly Beach, and our view was from the room was wonderful. It was a comfortable room, and we enjoyed the outdoor facilities on oceanside. The staff greeted us like we were special returning guests, not first-timers! We also enjoyed the closeness of being in downtown Folly Beach, able to walk almost anywhere we wanted to go. The bathroom looked like it had been redone recently the only bad thing was some trim was missing in the bathtub/shower. We would definitely go back again.

The staff is incredibly helpful and seem happy that we are there. Love walking to restaurants and then on the beach.

Very nice oceanfront hotel, beautiful beach, rooms satisfactory although room was not made up at 4 pm and then one of the 2 beds was left unmade. Nice Oceanside bar and restaurant. In hotel and in close proximity to some shops and restaurants you can walk to. Also around 10 miles to Charleston. Great off season rate. Plan on returning.

The Tides is the only hotel/motel of significance on the island and suffers from a lack of competition to keep them on their toes. The rooms are over priced for the state of repair and amenities provided - no microwave, minimum fridge, minimum furnishings, mini- balcony with no furniture. Clean, generally comfortable rooms at their non-negotiable price.

Took my 90 year old grandmother for a day at the beach. She loved it! The staff was amazing and were so nice and helpful getting her in and out of the car to her wheelchair. We will def be coming back soon.

Wonderful and highly recommended. Ready to go back

Very nice hotel with excellent restaurant and bar. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Weather however did not cooperate as well.

Great hotel super friendly staff! Location is perfect! It's beach front right next to the pier and you can walk to all the restaurants at folly beach! It's clean and comfortable. This was the second time we've stayed there and the staff is always kind we've never had any problems! The wifi isn't great (we could get the wifi in our room from the ritas across the street better than the hotel wifi but I don't have a huge need for wifi on vacation!) We'll definitely be back! It's always clean and that's pretty much my main concern when staying away from home!

This hotel was not what I expected from a 3 star rating. The sink was cracked, the floors dirty, the breakfast was poorly made and the pillows were lumpy. The only redeeming thing about it was it was on a beach.

The location of this hotel is optimal if you are interested in a lot of wonderful beach time. The staff was very accommodating and the amenities were exceptional. The rooms could use some small touch ups and the parking is a nightmare especially if you intend on returning later in the evening. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and staff.
