We made a last-minute decision to extend our stay in the Charleston area to take advantage of the great weather, booking three nights at Isle of Palms. Since we didn’t rent a car, we wanted to stay somewhere right on the beach. Our search results included the Seacoast Inn, averaging about $179 per night. It was one of the more affordable options—and once we arrived, we understood why.
The room was clean but dated and a bit worn down. There were scuff marks on the floor, a towel rack coming loose from the wall, and metal doors showing rust where the paint had chipped away. The air conditioning unit was quite noisy, and the temperature in the room swung between too cold and too warm throughout the night.
After 11:30 p.m., the front desk and office are locked, and calls to the front desk are redirected to another hotel nearby. I’m not sure if that setup contributed to the rowdy group of guests just outside our room, but between that noise and the AC, sleep was hard to come by.
Overall, it was a decent place for the price, but definitely a “you get what you pay for” experience. We learned our lesson and will likely look for a different hotel next time under similar circumstances.
