Hotel rooms were very clean. Grounds could be nicer. Breakfast was over at 9 am and you had to walk to other eating facilities. Very inconvenient. We were expecting a hotel and dId not know that this was an extended stay facility. Other guests congregated in the parking lot at night. Overall not a bad experience but I would not go back.

Had a stay from 9/5-9/7. Hotel looks as if it was recently updated. Facilities and rooms appear as advertised however roaches were observed upon arrival in my suite. Staff were immediately notified however no maintenance staff nor otherwise came to inspect my room nor offer me an alternative suite. I was bitten repeatedly during my stay and could not figure out what was doing it. On my final night I found bed bugs on my bed and took pictures as well as filmed them with my phone. I went downstairs and reported to staff and the staff took my complaint and gave me her name. The manager was not onsite at the time. Because I had not received a phone call regarding my concerns the following day I called back to the hotel to speak to the manager whom was not there. The staff I spoke to via phone denied that an employee by the name of the woman whom I initially filed complaint with, worked there. Now nearly 2 weeks later and multiple messages left for the manager I have not received a follow-up to my complaints. Each time I called during his scheduled work hours the staff reports he is not there however has not been on vacation. I filed a complaint with the Wyndham hotel group which is the Corporation for the Hawthorne Suites on 8/9/2017 . I was informed that the complaint would be resolved by the 9/15. Today is 9/20 and they have yet to contact me. I am appalled by the lack of customer service and efficiency of this hotel group.

A random stranger said to me at breakfast that this was the worst hotel he has ever stayed at, but I wouldn't go that far.

Nice front desk staff. The room had some nice decor and features, the kitchen was pretty nice, new floors, and was clean, but...it would take a total gut to bring it up to the basic Wyndham standards. The bathroom, oh boy. And one of the bedrooms had a ceiling fan that was literally dangling by its wires...over the bed. Dangling! I am also pretty sure the beds were supposed to have sheets on BOTH sides of the blanket, not just on top; it was icky to imagine how many guests had used a blanket that was going to be against my skin. It was a no-vacancy weekend, of the eclipse, but did they really run out of sheets?? So yes, I can see that someone is trying to make it look nice, but it needs way more attention to details and renovation.

This hotel was disguising and we had to be moved 3 times to just to find something somewhat livable. The floors had not been vacuumed or the laminate moped or swept. The sheets had stains and their was a layer of dust everywhere. The prior guests had ripped the smoke detector from the ceiling and their ashes were still on the window sill. We took tons of pictures and took to the manager to discuss. The manger, Felecia, was rude and was defensive about all the pictures and reported she has watched her cleaning lady clean our room. I think the standards for cleaning need to be re-evaluated for this hotel if they expect customers to pay.

Hotel room smelled like smoke. No parking at. Nights.

Terrible hotel! The furniture in the picture is actually in the room but the room itself is disgusting and looks like something out of an 80's movie. It's extremely dingy and dirty. My guess is Wyndam just bought a couple years ago, put a fresh coat of paint on and threw in some modern furniture. I tried canceling my reservation once I saw the room but wasn't able to. There was hair all over the bathroom, dirty footprints on the tile, and black mold growing on the fabric shower curtain. We showered with sandals on we were so uncomfortable. There were bugs throughout the room - one of which was so big that when we killed it, it left a blood stain on the bed. The room wreaked of smoke and was incredibly stuffy. When I went to make coffee in the morning, found a dirty coffee pot with burnt on coffee and old moldy grounds in the basket. Seriously, don't stay here. It looks kind of cutesy from the outside but is not worth $60 a night moreless the amount they're asking for it. This is honestly what you expect when you pay$39 a night at some unknown name hotel on the side of the road.

This motel could be A1 if only it was cleaned. Floors were filthy. Once I cleaned the floors, bathroom and side tables and made sure the filthy doona didn't touch our faces, the king size bed was super comfortable. The stairs, front entrance and paths need a good steam clean. Mould everywhere. As for pool and BBQ area it was just filthy. Paths need a leaf blower each day. Over flowing rubbish bins should not greet guests on arrival. The place needs love and a motivated staff. For $67 special price slash a night it suited us. Kitchen was great. The place needs new doonas, steam cleaned couches and curtains washed. The smell of pets??? hits you as you enter the rooms. Convenient location. Quiet if on top floor.

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in North Charleston, SC is the WORST hotel we have ever stayed in. From the unprofessional staff, dirty floors, overflowing toilets, unsanitary presentation in the lobby / dining area, and worst of all cockroaches in the rooms this place needs to be avoided at all costs. Hawthorn Suites (I use this term very LOOSELY) is a walking health code violation and I have reported them to the local North Charleston Code Enforcement department. Now my negative review has nothing to do with Orbitz. The Orbitz representative was wonderful and she ensured my remaining three nights were refunded to my card which I received yesterday. I have always had a positive experience booking through Orbitz and unfortunately they do not know what is going on at this Hawthorn Suites location in North Charleston. Somebody needs to investigate this hotel because my review isn't the only negative one it has received. Will it take a guest getting sick at this Hawthorn location before somebody at Wyndham Corporate finally investigates? I hope not.

Blankets had cigarette burns n stains. Other than that, hotel was close to shopping and made the stay feel just like home

Very clean and comfy rooms. Well kept with great service. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

For the most part the staff was pleasant to deal with as usual, 1 of the owners was rude and disrespectful doubt will be returning back for a while if ever

During the thre day stay no one from housekeeping came to tidy up and replenish towels, bed sheets and coffee supplies. The floor really needs to be cleaned.

This place is unacceptable! Room 214 had 6+ cockroaches scurrying about the kitchen countertop. I caught 3 of them. These are Not palmetto bugs, they are cockroaches and the manager agreed. Another room was offered, 814 had a cockroach running for it's life when I opened the dishwasher. There was No acceptable resolution! Had to leave! Shame on you Hawthorn Suits by Wyndham! AND Orbitz for allowing anyone to book there! Shame! You are making people sick!

I have never been disappointed staying here always a pleasure.

My room was next to a group of kids who seemed like they were possibly living there - noisy, fighting, playing basketball on the court right next to our rooms until I called the front desk at midnight. The staff was very friendly, but the room was run-down and dirty and the walls were very thin.

My suite included a full sized kitchen minus the dishes and cooking utensils but if needed you could get them from the front desk. Cable T.V. with a lot of channels were available. A real hot breakfast every morning in the main bldg.

We drove from North Myrtle Beach to stay one night close to the airport. We went to out room, it smelled like smoke! They have a sign stating you will receive a $250.00 fine for smoking. They must collect a lot of money in fines! We opened the one window and the door to air it out, it did not work. The upholstery was stained, the room was dark and creepy feeling. We went back to the check in and expressed our concerns. The woman who helped us was very nice and gave us another room to check out. This room was worst than the first. We gave the key back and left. We found another hotel down the street.

Rooms are large and excellant for group our family. Nothing fancy about facilities and staff is rude. Handwritten signs everywhere about food, pets, smoking, etc. Breakfast was mediocre and you were not allowed to take food to rooms!?

Loads of Mexican men hanging out in parking lot making all kinds of noise from drinking! Worst experience ever!
