I lived in Washington for 25 years and always wanted to stay at the Watergate. I reserved a room on Orbitz for about $500 that was supposed to have a balcony and river view. They gave me a room with a construction view and no balcony. Orbitz called and fixed the problem (Thank you!) - the hotel moved me to a musty 5th floor room with a very sad balcony and an even worse view of construction. The new room was also very musty and had a big wet spot on the carpet. I am fairly sure someone before me spilled something the night before ... or worse barfed. They shouldn't have rented the room that night. I was too tired to move again. The lobby is nice, but past that the hotel rooms are not good. The furniture has not been updated since Nixon was president - not in a charming way. If you are interested in the Watergate, visit the bar on the roof for a drink, skip the stay.
The room had a broken granite window ledge. I ordered a river view and I got of view of a construction site. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Extremely helpful staff, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time on the property.
Very relaxing place and love pool, hot tub, and sauna ! Shower and bath tub was nice!
Convenient to Kennedy Center. Very friendly staff.
Air conditioning would not go below 72. Tv remote would not work despite getting a new one. Rooftop bar requires reservations, which we were not told. Upon arrival we were told we could stand. Our group got drinks and stood near the balcony. At that time we were told we had to move for a private party which was not marked. Was very clean and valets were kind and helpful. Would not stay there again.
I must say, the watergate hotel is one the fanciest hotels I’ve ever been to. The minute you walk in, you’re greeted by a professional staff. My room was really beautiful it felt like I was at home. I did not want to leave. If you want to experience a 5 star service, then the watergate hotel is the place to be. Will definitely come back!
The staff was very nice and helpful.
There are no food and beverage options after 10:30 pm on weeknights. Literally can’t even get a prepackaged salad or candy bar. The hotel is in a food desert and you would need to walk many blocks to find a restaurant. Otherwise this is a decent hotel priced as a 4-star hotel.
Stayed overnight after a show at the Kennedy Center. Perfect location.
The property and amenities were OK. The elevator system needs a serious upgrade. Waiting 15-20 mins for the elevator is a problem. When a customer books a room, the expectation is that it will be available on arrival.
The Watergate redesign is phenomenal. The staff was wonderful. Only issue was that they accidentally billed me an extra $312 for parking after already billing me $52 for parking.
