The River Inn

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Staying for a long weekend in a Potomac Room, the view upon entry was wonderful. Large windows frame a beautiful view of the river. The room(s) itself comes with a large bedroom, a living room, small bathroom, and a kitchenette, along with the largest shower head I've ever seen...Living at this hotel full time would be a joy! The location offered easy access to the GW area where we were visiting, a short walk to the Metro stop, an easy walk to the Georgetown waterfront, and we even popped over to the Watergate for higher-up views of the city. We were often out late at night, and always felt safe walking through the neighborhood, which is a mix of residential homes and commercial stores. Pricing for the stay was reasonable for the area. We will certainly re-visit on future trips.

Very nice hotel with a 'boutique-y' feel to it. Room was clean, check-in & out were painless, staff was great. (Very) minor nit-picks - the disposal in the kitchen sink was leaking and the cupboard was wet on the bottom. Not a major deal, but it should be fixed sooner rather than later. Also on our last day we did spot one roach in the top corner of the shower area in the bathroom. Not a deal-breaker for me, but my wife was a little freaked out. Let's face it - *every* building in the city has 'em. Everything else about the room was very clean and nice, so I didn't mention it to staff. Suite was do-able for our family of 4 (2 teenagers).

Room provides giant space including kitchen, kitchen table and etc. excellent service! Impressive!

Excellent room. Great staff, super friendly. The trash removal at 6 on Monday and everyday that week was horrible so don't recommend first floor room.

I requested early check in, easily accommodated even though they were at capacity the previous night. Very friendly staff, scheduled a cab pick up at 415AM, arrived early too! Clean, comfortable rooms, in a great neighborhood in Georgetown, very good value.

Great comfortable beds, extra large family suite, quiet safe neighborhood close to good restaurants, friendly accommodating staff, clean and updated, comfortable warm decor and 10 minutes walk to national mall. All that and Reasonably priced! Will definitely make this my regular hotel when I visit again.

One night stay close to my son's apartment. Way better than I had expected or even hoped for.

One room suite is excellent for small family. Quiet neighborhood.

Convenient location. Great staff. Economical for DC.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Very clean. Good location. Close to GW university. Not far from Georgetown.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with our backed up sink. My family and I loved the fresh flavored water that awaited their guests as they entered the hotel. The rooms were clean and larger than a hotel room. Our room never seemed to reach the 70 degree temperature we wanted, it was very warm and uncomfortable. I don't know if it was just the day and the high temps, but on our last morning in our room, it smelt like a sewer was behind us.

Friendly and wonderful staff made our transition to our airport easy, held our luggage even offered a late check-out extremely flexible

Great place to stay between Georgetown and Whitehouse

I love the location, the convenience. I don't like busy hotels with big lobbies, etc, It is clean, convenient, in a great area and location, close to Reagan airport. I have been using it almost exclusively for over 15 years. The bathrooms could be larger and I ever change hotels that would be the reason.

Overall very positive experience. Some hotel facilities a bit tired but very clean and staff was exceptional. Located in a charming quiet residential neighborhood yet just 2 blocks from a Metro stop. Suite room was roomy and well laid out. Only negative was could hear some hotel neighbors and plane noise but not bad enough to discount the positives.

Second time staying here. Great location. Close proximaty to Georgetown and many dining options.

The value in relation to the location is outstanding. We were with our 3 month old daughter and felt safe walking to neighborhood restaurants/attractions. We loved the convenience to local fare and transportation.

It was nice, but had to pay for parking? It was the same most of the places we checked. They told us we could park on the street for free, but had to move the car before a certain time in the morning.

The River Inn is a great place to stay and you get more for your money than other nicely located hotels. The hotel is less than a five minute walk to the Foggy Bottom / GWU metro station a short walk from Georgetown and about 15-20 minute walk to the Lincoln Memorial or the White House. Each room has a kitchenette (ours had a two-burner stove top, microwave, fridge and freezer, coffee maker, and dishes and utensils for two). Staff very friendly and very helpful.

Had another wonderful stay at The River Inn. Location is perfect for us: on the border of Georgetown, within walking distance to Metro and down the road from Trader Joe's. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious. Nice to have a kitchen and a seating area. Bathroom is nice, too. Would stay here in a heartbeat...
