Didn’t like price of parking and condition of the pool table.
The property is beautiful. The room is nicely done and I would recommend this hotel to a friend
Luxury hotel I love it Great service, amazing customer service,
The hotel was in a great location and offered a reasonable breakfast and dinner menu. I didn't like that the hotel charged a guest amenities fee on top of their hotel billing that is paid at the hotel. This is clearly a bait and switch technique.
We had plenty of space to meet and talk with our friends. We enjoyed the dinner that we had at the hotel.
I remember the old hotel Fairfax from years ago when I lived in DC. It was a great old school hotel with historic charm and wood paneled coziness. Unfortunately, it has recently undergone a massive update to the common areas. Anytime a classic hotel is gutted of its original architectural history and redone in a “modern” style to appeal to Millennial hipsters, the results are predictably horrible and this one is no exception. The new common areas are clean and clinical with the same level of charm and historical sense that you’d find in an airport Starbucks. However, my desire for the old and traditional is a matter of personal taste so it only factors in minimally in my review. My main issue is that while they have obviously spent a lot of money on an unsympathetic overhaul of the common spaces, the rooms themselves could use some spiffing up. The bedroom was fine overall except for the carpet, which was visibly soiled and tatty; definitely in need of replacement. The bathroom was also in need of a good clean. The white doors and light switch plates were dirty and the grout in the shower was moldy. The exhaust fan did not appear to work and made a loud electrical buzzing noise (reported and never repaired.) Also, the walls between rooms apparently have no sound insulation. You can clearly hear normal tone conversations from adjacent rooms and the amorous adventures of the couple next door were my daily alarm clock. I will be staying elsewhere next time in DC.
It was very clean and centrally located. I did not like how the door to the room let in light from the hall during the night. I had to put a towel in the bottom rack and open the closet door to block the light coming in on the sides.
A charming older hotel in excellent condition. The staff is professional and top notch. The breakfasts superb and dinners impecable. Located on Embassy Row walking the neighborhood is a real treat and proximity to Dupont Circle ensures achoice of
Loved Washington DC! The hotel was excellent for the location cleanliness accommodation. Did read before my stay all the ratings and positive comments but for some reason the first two nights the staff turned off their courtesy and basic manners like thank you Good morning welcome have a great day etc But overall the it was great! Would love to go back in the near future.
great, accessible to all activities we needed in DC, surrounded by great restaurants, very friendly staff
I didn't like getting hit with a mandatory amenities bill during checkout. Nobody told me that would be charged nor did I know I could take advantage of the amenities. I may have since I was going to be charged for them regardless. I thought that was very shady and ruined what would have been a good stay
Location was good. TV services was a joke!! Smell of mold caused me to be ill. Last straw was my passport walked away!! I won't return
The staff was excellent and efficient. The property is in a great location and well maintained. The rooms are comfortable, but somewhat worn. Other than that, it was a great place and I would have no hesitation in staying there or recommending it to others.

We're very happy our location in the vibrant and lovely Dupont Circle neighborhood added positively to your visit to DC. It concerns us that you weren't aware of our guest amenity fee prior to arrival as we make every effort to be transparent about all our fees. We'll look into this to see if we can do an even better job of informing future guests about all hotel details. We hope you'll stay again at The Fairfax at Embassy Row so we may fully impress you.
