the place was great-BUT they need new mattresses- it was under construction but they did a good job working around the area

I enjoyed my stay but I wasn't wowed by any means by the hotel. No room service available and their breakfast was extremely underwhelming.

We didn’t know the hotel was under major construction/renovation. It’s all torn up and you can hear construction noises during the day. There were no view from our room other than a brick wall. Room size is small and carpet and deco are old. The staffs are nice and location is good. But I would rather stay elsewhere next time cause the age and conditions of the hotel.

Excellent location near Dupont Circle on Embassy Row. We had a King Deluxe room and it was very spacious as was the lovely tile bath. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. We would love to stay there again.

We visit DC often and like to stay in various areas. This has become one of our favorites. Multiple restaurants are a short walk away, as well as a close metro stop. The walk itself is on lovely Embassy Row. The Fairfax is also close to Dupont Circle park, which is, as one locals described it to us, DC's living room. It is people watching at it's best. The hotel is undergoing some renovations but that did not bother us. We also had the hotel breakfast which was pastries, cereals, fruit, and boiled eggs.

Location to Dupont Circle offers wonderful dining and shopping opportunities. Easy walk to Metro stop lets you travel easily to key tourist spots in DC. Staff is always friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Look forward to staying again in the future.

I use the his hotel every time I am in DC. Fantastic location, lovely staff and extremely comfortable rooms and bed. A bit strange having plastic cutlery at breakfast, doesn't really fit with the rest of the ambiance. At the time of writing they are going through a big refurbishment but I heard no noise and it didn't impact my stay. A great hotel and I will definitely be back!

Arrived to be told they did not have the type of room available that we reserved through Orbitz, leaving two grown men to share a bed. Was told it wasn't their fault, that Orbitz didn't communicate the room type to them. Their only solution was a roll away cot. Thankfully another hotel guest offered to switch. Went to use the coffee pot the next morning to see a slimy white substance in the water reservoir. Went downstairs at 6:27 for coffee instead and was told it wasn't available until 6:30. Talked to employee in lobby about the coffee maker in room. They asked our room number but never cleaned or changed pot. Called lobby at night to inquire about vending machine to get the rude answer "Uhhh, nope." Left bags after check out to be retrieved before flight. They were tagged but stored with no sort of system or organization. Attendant had to look through each of 50+ bags. We eventually let ourselves behind the partition where the bags were stored to retrieve them as we had a car waiting. One of two elevators was out of service for length of stay. (3 nights) Beds were clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a good job. Overall stay was okay but I'd never recommend this hotel based on customer service.

The hotel was under construction when we went, although we didn’t see that noted on their website. As such they didn’t even have a lobby and reception area. There was a make shift lobby in the lounge/restaurant area. The food at the restaurant was terrible. I had to send my appetizer back (I’m 34 years old and eat out at least once a week. This is only the second time in my life I sent something back). They offer “breakfast” at the reataurant, but it was only continental breakfast and it was $14/ per person, so we passed and went to breakfast in the city on our way to see the sights. There are dozens of places to eat within a 5 Minutes walk from the hotel. The rooms were old, but comfy and charming. We had a suite, and the couch was very cozy in the living area. The shower is great. The staff were probably the nicest people I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. I can’t say enough good things about them. All in all, I think once the renovations are completed it’s probably a fine hotel, but as it stands right now it left much to be desired. We got a good deal on last minute booking, and the people were so nice that I didn’t mind the crappy food and sub par accommodations and appearance.

Very pleasant and comfortable. Staff was super friendly.

The type of room I booked two months prior was unavailable and no one contacted me in advance so I can make other arrangements. Replacement room was disappointing. Staff was friendly and gave free breakfast and free WiFi for the inconvenience. Hotel is under construction which we were also unaware of. The dining room was a part of this, so the breakfast was a continental. Great location, close to Dupont station and there are a lot of bars, restaurants and stores.

The hotel appears to be in caretaker mode with minimal staff, no facilities, and no restaurant. Breakfast is served on dispisable plates with disposable cutlery. Fast internet provided was 2mbit. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Was not informed prior to stay that hotel was under renovation. Room was clean but shower head was broken and tv went in and out. View wasn’t great and hotel is only close to the red metro line. Would recommend to others when updates have been done.

Second stay here. Lobby and restaurant undergoing construction but staff went out of their way to accommodate

The Fairfax is a nice hotel, with nice charm. It's everything you need and a great location.

Staff always friendly. Doormen always willing to help made our stay memorable. The hotel is close to many restaurants. Nice and fancy embassy area. If you stay at the Fairfaxdon't miss the chance to hava a comfort food dinner at Bistro Bistro, wirthin 5 minutes walking. Super friendly staff and great food, reasonable prices. Enjoy!

Very warm staff, elegantly furnished, good location

The amenities were very nice. Ina nice neighborhood with many restaurants nearby. We had empanadas for lunch and pub food for dinner. It was about a two Mille walk to the National Mall which was fine with us. The room was very comfortable. I would recommend to my friends!

The staff was very friendly. The room was comfortable and clean.

Don't be put off by the hard-to-open front door and the crowded check-in area. The Fairfax is a beautiful, well-run, super-comfortable hotel in one of the best locations in DC. (The Phillips Gallery is only one block away!) Decor is classically elegant, food and drink are reasonably priced and high quality. My room was blissfully quiet and well-appointed. Extra points for the over-sized, soft and absorbent bath towels. I will be staying here on all my visits to DC! You should too.
