Loved the staff and the place is very classy and clean. Didn’t like the $20/day amenities fee. Pricey for no more than you get, but that is San Diego in general.

Have to pay 40 a day for parking. That was crazy if you are staying there you should get to park for free

The pool is amazing, and the gym is probably the best of any hotel in San Diego. The staff is great, and the hotel is beautiful. Location is close to walk to plenty of restaurants and bars, and the harbor.

From the moment I arrived I felt appreciated and cared for. The hotel is beautiful and the work out facility was amazing. I especially enjoyed the happy hour and pleasant staff.

Amazing place!) location, stuff, services - super

It is a beautiful hotel. Old time, but updated luxury. We had an issue with the internet one night, but it was resolved the next morning. There is a jazz bar almost every night. Located right in the heart of downtown and easy walking distance to many places to dine, as well as, zoo.

For starters, they automatically charge you a $20/day "Access" fee, which was explained to me as covering the free (unsecured) WiFi, and use of the facilities at Aquavie, a huge health club next door to the hotel, with a rooftop pool, and all sorts of stuff. Which is nice, but I was only in town for 2 nights and I knew I was not going to have any time to use the facility. Plus, I didn't need the hotel WiFi. So, they essentially scammed me out of $40. On my first night, I was on the 6th floor of the hotel. They really need double pane windows, because the San Diego light rail stop was directly under my window. On my way out at about 5 pm Friday night, I asked the desk clerk if the light rail "ran all night", because whenever a train pulls away from the stop, it has to honk a VERY loud, klaxon-type horn a few times. I was told the trains "stop at 11". Well, guess what? They don't. All night long under my window, just as I thought I was getting to sleep "HONK HONK!" Worst night's sleep I've had in forever. Also, for some reason, the climate control in that room wasn't working and no matter what I did, the AC never would come on. The next morning I requested a room change, which they accomodated with no fuss (staff was great). I got moved to a room on the 11th floor, on the western side of the hotel facing the ocean. Summary: 1) let me Opt In for the "access fee", esp. since there's no "opt out". 2) Soundproof that glass on rooms over the trains.

Nice hotel! Very our style! We were so happy with the decision

Beautiful hotel! Friendly staff. Amazing amenities.

We stayed at The Westgate Hotel for a total of 6 nights. We were very impressed with the staff members that made our vacation memorable. Our room was very clean, with beautiful views of the city, housekeeping & turn down staff were excellent. The food at the restaurant was delicious with marvelous décor and ambience. We were very impressed with Engin, Gabriel, Rhonda, Dione, JC, Sunny they always had a smile and were very professional with genuine kindness. The front desk, Karina, Donna, Jeff F, Daniel and concierge Shraddha they all showed genuine care and professionalism. Because they all made such a big impact on us we will definitely go back to The Westgate Hotel in San Diego, CA. We have and will continue to highly recommend The Westgate Hotel in San Diego, CA to our friends, family and everyone. .

Great hotel for the price! Very convenient location to the Convention Center.

Very nice hotel, centrally located in Gaslamp district

Would have preferred more modern fixtures. Parking was expensive ($40 per night). Excellent and friendly staff. Location next to train tracks, kinda noisy.

I will begin with the most annoying and negative part of our trip. We came out for our anniversary and chose this hotel because of location and turn down service. Such a nice touch. That being said on the night of our anniversary we came back from dinner and the room hadn’t been turned down. We notified the front desk but at 10:30 there was no one available. Not the biggest deal but annoying when this was part of why we chose it. The AC is not strong at all. We had it on the coldest setting and still woke up hot. Pool area is nice. Our room had a great view. Close to balboa mall, gas lamp is walking distance. Trolley is right on the street. Beaches are all just an Uber/lyft ride away. We personally would not stay here again but it didn’t dampen our trip.

We had a great stay and are certainly coming back again.

Great hotel close to everything in gaslamp. Smaller boutique feel.

The hotel needs to upgrade and refurbish. Trying to maintain glitz and glamor of yesteryear doesn’t work when the brass fixtures are tarnished or damaged, and the rooms smell old. I appreciate the attempt to keep up the old style, but sometimes it should be retired. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive which was a pleasure.

It was only for one night and for that a perfectly comfortable place to sleep but a bit too pretentious in it's faded glory grandeur. Our 10th floor room had a great downtown view, the king size bed was very comfortable, the TV was big (the Oscars were on), the bathroom was spotless (liked the shower), and we slept very well. The room was not inexpensive. And then there is an additional 'facilities' fee tacked on for use of hotel 'facilities' which does include use of a very clean, modern looking fitness center with a rooftop lap pool but we did not use hotel facilities other than the ones that came with the room. Which, let me remind you, was not inexpensive.
