Facility in high need of refreshing. Very old and dated.
Great location and the comfortable and pretty clean bed. The free breakfast is a plus, even though not a variety of choice. Some odor in the room; the furniture and carpet are old and kind of dirty; But it is acceptable. Very reasonable given the price.
Location within walk to the harbor, or gaslamp area.
Shuttle service was off a couple of times. Late night people were clearly heard outside. But overall staff was great and hotel was convinient and clean.
Our group had a last minute Airbnb cancellation. Holiday Inn let check in early and held our luggage until our flight. Staff was wonderful, great location, free happy hour, wonderful complimentary breakfast and we had a view of downtown and the ocean! We will definitely be back!
Great Location. Shuttle service to airport and all major attractions. Also very walkable to Bay Area Attractions, Gaslamp District, Little Italy. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Very responsive to all of our requests and very friendly. Hotel is a little older, but in decent shape. Seems they will be going through a remodel and facelift soon. Great breakfast. Coffee, Water, Lemonade and fresh baked cookies available in lobby throughout the day.
Convenient walking/driving to restaurants and attractions.
Hotel staff was nice, room was ok, herd a lot of auto traffic as the check in drive way was under the room. I also wanted to extend and I was told Ok but it be at the higher room rate. a little shocked by that. Didn't stay the second night .
After a Business Conderence this was a great hotel to spend a couple of personal nights in San Diego. Value for money and free wifi and breakfast was excellent. Room 307 didn't have a view but I didn't spend much time in the room! Airport shuttle was also welcome. Overall I think Holiday Inn Express are excellent value for money and the Downtown location was convenient for Balboa Park and San DiegonZoo.
Your hotel was within walking distance to the concert at civic theatre. It was nice waking up and going downstairs to breakfast that was included in our stay at hotel. The staff was helpful when we asked questions.
We were in town for a family member returning from deployment. The location was great. Within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and entertainment. The staff was polite and helpful. We had an issue with our tv the first night and it was taken care of by maintenance within 15 minutes. We really enjoyed the nightly happy hour and warm cookies every evening. The only issue we had was with the parking garage, very tight and narrow. But we would definitely stay there again.
My husband, toddler and myself stayed here for a week. Thee hotel was wonderful. The staff great, the breakfast delicious and the happy hour Sun- Thursday was a great time to be happy and to bond with others! I would return any time! The price is right.
I only had one problem with my stay and that was the charge for parking. I think parking should have been free.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. It started with the van driver that picked us up from the airport. Bonus, it's complimentary. Darnell at the front desk, awesome. The breakfast staff, incredible and also complimentary. The happy hour Sunday thru Thursday, also complimentary. Budd the GM, super cool super awesome. When I go back to San Diego, I will definitely stay here again!!!
We were 5 blocks away from the fireworks show it was great the hotel offered a shuttle to different places.
Hotel room was pretty clean but does show signs of age especially the walls and bathroom. Our room was spacious which was good for our kids. We like the included breakfast. They even had bacon, eggs, and sausage. The parking garage is quite small. We have a big car so we found it hard to maneuver around. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
For about $100/night in downtown San Diego, it is a good deal. As for the quality of the hotel, it is okay for the price.
They had free breakfast, a shuttle to and from the airport as well as a free happy hour. All this was really great. When I got there, they did check me into a room that was furthest walking distance from the entrance and the staff helping me said it was because I was young and could walk. This bit bugged me a bit and the rooms door look took a bit to figure out. Instead of just sliding the card and it turning green, the door opened after about 2 tries each time when it was green and red. I also didn't have a patio chair and I noticed the other guests did. slight annoyances but overall it was a pretty good trip. Good location.
The person greeting me at the front desk was very pleasant and friendly.
This hotel was a great choice while I was attending a conference at the Convention Center. When I arrived at the San Diego airport, I called the hotel and a hotel shuttle was there to pick me up in ten minutes. The shuttle runs to the airport, and also some places in the city, so if you want to go somewhere, ask the front desk if the shuttle can take you. The staff was very helpful and on the ball. The room was clean. A nice breakfast every morning downstairs, clean and well-kept. Plus a much better price than the hotels closer to the Convention Center. It was about a half mile to the Center, which I walked everyday. Actually a nice walk through the Gaslamp District, with a huge selection of restaurants: I had a great burger at the Burger Lounge, all grass-fed beef, and fish and chips at an Irish pub. The hotel is outside the Gaslamp District, several blocks from the restaurants and shops. So if you want a hotel that is in the middle of the action, this isn't it. However, there is a trolley stop 3 blocks from the hotel, which you can ride into the downtown and to the Convention Center. I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again.
