Not sure if you could see water from the hotel. We faced north over the building construction across the street. Positives - the staff and breakfast were both excellent. Hope at the Front Desk in particular provided great customer service. Negative - area around the hotel is pretty dirty (hotel is quite clean). Not a lot around the hotel to do. A restaurant across the street was closed the entire weekend. Coffee shop also across the street opened after 9am. You are a short walk to Gaslamp District as well as the trolley.

The staff are helpful and friendly. The room Itself was clean but carpet throughout and in rooms is dirty and worn. Be aware that there seems to be almost daily loud garbage collection early each morning. In addition if other guests are noisy this carries along the whole length of the one long corridor to most of the rooms on the floor level.
