The Maids Head Hotel

The hotel is clean, the staff are very helpful and pleasant, the restaurant served very good food. On arrival we were given a complimentary upgrade. I would like to have awarded 4.9 stars but the system does not allow. Why not 5? Well, and this is for the management really, our room was lovely but there had obviously been a problem in the bathroom. Paint was peeling from the ceiling where there had been a leak. A quick tidy up, if repair was not immediately possible, would have been preferable. This in no way affected the great couple of days we had in Norwich and it would not stop me from recommending this hotel.

Our second stay in this friendly hotel. The room was small but all facilities were good. We overlooked the road at the front of the hotel and were worried this may be a bit noisy but, apart from a short spell of loud music from the pub opposite, it was fine. This time we ate in the restaurant on the Friday night and had an excellent meal with great service. This staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel is in a great position for exploring Norwich. We love it here and will be back. Thank you!

Summary: Hotel lovely, some rooms dated. Centrally located. Little bit pricey. Overall rating: Good Lovely characterful hotel ideally located next to the wonderful Cathedral and only a short walk from the city centre of Norwich. The hotel has been partly renovated with a modern and classy interior in the new part. My room was located in the old part of the hotel which unfortunately is suffering slightly from an outdated decor, with windows inoperable and no air con. The room however was very big and the beds very comfortable.Staff where very friendly and courteous throughout. There is ample parking to the rear of the hotel.

This lovely hotel, in a great position close to the cathedral, never fails to deliver comfortable accommodation. It is always a pleasure to stay at the Maids Head. The staff are efficient and nothing is too much trouble. Good WiFi, car parking and restaurant facilities. The standard of cleanliness is also excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you are in Norwich.

I only had one night to stay this visit and was once again delighted. Staff is courteous efficient and friendly. Food is very good. Rooms are lovely with pictures of Norwich in the bathroom 😉. Only possible drawback is that the rounds about in front of the hotel is gone and the pedestrian crossing is not a zebra crossing. City council should have done a better job for this long term Norwich hotel. Look forward to going back in the spring

Highly recommended for any business that wants their company training events and conferences to be a complete success. From the moment that I was so warmly greeted by Sarah on reception to the time when Matthew checked how well the training had gone before wishing farewell our experience was first class. The room was very well equipped with simple and user friendly AV connections, lots of natural light and space to use. Wi-Fi connection was a breeze which is always a real blessing. The refreshments were served without any fuss and were of high quality. As a training consultant I need our venues to be high quality, friendly and professional to reflect the training we deliver. The Maids Head hits the spot.

The Maids Head claims to be the oldest hotel in England. I don't know if this is true but it is certainly an excellent place to stay in Norwich with most comfortable rooms, up to date bathrooms and an excellent restaurant. In addition some of the most charming and helpful staff I have encountered and a location next to the Cathedral to die for.

Norwich had been on our visit list for some time. A friend advised staying in The Maid's Head Hotel. It may be the oldest hotel in Britain but it is right up to date! We had been upgraded to a suite, having a delightful sitting room, a bedroom with a roll top bath and a lovely, large en suite shower room with complimentary toiletries from The white Company. What's not to like? Some items on the breakfast menu were freshly cooked to order, such as scrambled eggs. Perfect! I thought the dining room lacked any ambience, but that is a minor issue. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend.

The Maids Head hotel was an ideal choice for a centrally located hotel - it had character architecturally , as well as excellent staff; good food and first class service - highly recommended when visiting Norwich.

Located in the heart of Norwich right next to the Cathedral. The room was very clean with ample space, we booked an executive room. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and I did like the mural on the wall over the bath, very different. The only negative was that the room was very warm and the window only opened very slightly so it was a bit stuffy that night. Really liked the hotel bar, and we had a great breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful.
