No hotel in the theater district of New York could be more wonderful than the Chatwal. Everything about it, from the outstanding staff to the lovely, spacious rooms exemplifies a unique boutique hotel with the outstanding features of the top hotel chains. The location for theater goers is ideal, and the restaurant associated with the hotel (The Lambs Club) is outstanding for breakfast and dinner. I've stayed before and I will be thrilled to stay again.
This hotel is great! My husband and I went on a short 3-day trip over Labor Day. The location is right where we wanted it; near the Broadway shows and the park. From the amazing staff to terrific accommodations, this was a great find! As a Starwood Platinum Member, we also got great perks, especially for breakfast. On the breakfast note, I am not sure if they were short staffed for those days, but service seemed noticeably slow. And that is highly perceived when you contrast that against the city’s fast pace. The room was great! Perfect size for a couple and the amenities were well taken care of. If you need to do some business, internet speed was steady, reaching 15Mb of speed at times. We also utilized their spa. I had a facial done before our flight back home and it was extremely pleasant and the staff was extremely polite and accommodating. My husband had a pedicure and said it was one of the best he has ever had! The only word of caution is the noise level. We stayed on the upper levels facing the street. And while the scenery was nice, there were lots of loud noises coming from the street on Saturday night. Which made it quite hard to get a restful night sleep. We will definitely consider going there again on our next NYC trip.
If you’re coming to NYC to see theater this is your hotel...Beautifully appointed with tremendous attention to detail and a quiet oasis in Times Square short blocks to the theaters. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive and they genuinely from the housekeeper to room service to front desk to doorman looked like they were happy to be there and worked as a team.
Rooms are well appointed. You can tell the attention to detail they take in the preparation for the guests. I had a room on the 7th floor which appears that all the rooms on this floor have a private terrace with it (I do not think the others floors have terraces). Mine was a suite so the terrace was quite large. For Midtown Manhattan it was very large. See photos (in panorama). Bathroom was similarly well equipped. It had the Japanese style commode with heated seat etc. Glass walls with a hidden TV for those that spend lots of time on the throne! Hotel has 9 floors so it is not big. Lobby had a strong perfume smell that I found out of place. Otherwise great stay.
Came to the city to see Bruce on Broadway. We wanted to be close to the venue as we were trying to avoid the cost of cabs. This was our first stay at The Chatwal. We arrived early but the hotel gladly found us a room - and an upgraded one at that. The room was good size and very well equipped. The hotel lobby bar is fun, but don’t miss the hotel-related bar at the Lambs Club. The hotel is about half a block off Time Square- which I was concerned about when I booked. My concerns were entirely unfounded as 44th St is quiet and I heard no street noise or any Time Square issues. Nice Irish Bar a few doors down was a welcome find. The mattress in our room needed to be changed out - and that is the only negative to an otherwise great hotel. The staff is welcoming and available. On this trip the weather was warm and we walked up and down town. From Joe’s Pizza to the Plaza. No cabs as this hotel is perfectly located. We have already booked a second stay for our Feb., 2018 NYC visit
A beautiful gem of a boutique hotel in midtown Manhattan. Spacious room full of great features, convenient location to both midTown and the theater district, a fine restaurant, helpful staff, quiet rooms. A fine, intimate retreat from the hustle and bustle.
We were repeat visitors to the hotel and again everything was perfect! The biggest plus for this hotel isn't the location(which is very good right in the thick of things)-its the staff! From the gentleman who opened our taxi door when arriving to the ladies who serviced our room to the front desk staff- all deserve gold for their genuine warmth and helpful attitudes.
The Chatwal is the best! We were visiting NYC to see Hamilton and to celebrate my mother's birthday. Everyone including the doormen, people working at the front desk, concierge, housekeeping, and people working in the restaurant were so kind, helpful, respectful, and really just personalized our experience. The hotel is located near Times Square but is very quiet. It really is a true luxury hotel! I would highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Not a luxury experience. The front desk was quite rude upon check in. We asked a question about receiving our SPG points and the front desk had no time for us. The room was nothing special, but maid service was excellent. They advertise a house car... every time we requested the use of the car it was nowhere to be found. The lambs club restaurant in the hotel was fabulous, and the best part of our stay.
The Lamb’s Club, and the bar and its Old Fashioneds lived up to the hype. The rooms and service and amenities were great. But I hadn’t read much about the breakfast and coffee, which were as good as you get in NYC and will bring me back.
