Stayed here for a 4 day vacation in NYC. It is a relatively small hotel so staff start to recognize you. For instance, gal hosting the cheese and wine reception knew we wanted Cabernet and that we would likely have 2 glasses. She would get them ready and bring them to our table upon our arrival to the room. Pianist was s very nice touch. The continental breakfast was fresh and of artisanal bakery quality. Free cappuccinos and lattes all day...made on a coffee shop quality machine (not truck stop lattes). Free bottled water x2 each day was appreciated. Valet parking was $20/day less than most other hotels. Very close to 2 subway lines. Overall, lots of perks and friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a night out in the city with my wife. Having been former city-dwellers, we loved staying in this hotel - away from the tourist crowd, but still in an easily accessible and fun area of the city. The evening happy hour was wonderful - great snacks, excellent service and they were not stingy at all with the adult beverages. Continental breakfast was similarly generous, and included real NYC bagels. The rooftop area was a nice feature, providing some secluded outside space. The room was comfortable and cozy, but also elegant and fairly spacious for a city hotel.

We frequently travel to New York, and have never experienced such a friendly staff; the evening happy hour staff were exceptional, especially Gabriela!! The attention to detail they pay to the guests is remarkable. The location of this hotel is great! It is a bit noisy at night, but, welcome to New York. If you are used to noise of the city you will have no problem with this. The Italian restaurant in the basement seemed like a fantastic place (homemade pasta and great ambiance) but it was closed the only night we had available. We will continue to stay here every time we stay in New York!

Great location and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Room was very clean and nicely furnished.Would stay again and recommend to friends.

Staff was excellent. Location was great. Hotel itself was ok. Had to get he fridge fixed, carpet was very worn, and toilet was broke and ran all the time.

Absolutely first class in every way. Understated elegance without the gawdy glitz of larger chains.Loved being out of the normal tourist hangouts. Trip was for business, but enjoyed extra time exploring. Staff very attentive and courteous without being obnoxious.

What a great experience. Would definitely recommend. Great rooms - especially for New York! Great staff. Best of both worlds - boutique hotel with service of a big hotel. Super breakfast and happy hour - included. We loved the location, but not for someone who expects to be in or near Time Square. Would definitely return. Near subway stop, top restaurants.

From the time we arrived to the time we left- a 4 day sleep-over-the staff was friendly, courteous, helpful (restaurant recommendations and reservations which for us was the best for moderate dinning( and never at any time was there any attitude or negative vibes. Our car was taken away while we were visiting and when we left this morning at 6 AM, our car was parked outside and the staff took our luggage to the car in the pouring rain and made sure we took some coffee and fruit for our return trip. At that hour the kitchen was not yet open. We were given a very complementary healthy breakfast and late afternoon were served wine and cheese on the house. When thinking if we had to go outside the hotel to pay for this, you have to know that it definitely brings the cost of the hotel down. The staff who served us really made us feel cherished.

We did not want to leave the Giraffe. The ambiance and furnishings made this hotel feel like home. We encountered 10 staff personnel during our two day visit and found them to be not only courteous but also knowledgeable and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Very nice hotel, let's start with the good: The best continental breakfast I've seen at a hotel where it's included in the price. Fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, coffee including espresso and lattes, and more. Very impressive. Lovely wine and cheese spread each night - with lots of selections. Impeccable turn-down service every night. Now, for the not so good. This hotel is 12 floors, and the top floor is a restaurant/lounge that is apparently rented out for private events most weekends. We requested the highest floor and therefore could hear the music and the MC on a microphone during the entire event(s). Our hotel room was left unlocked and ajar one afternoon following the maid service. Luckily nothing was taken. The water pressure in the shower was intermittent, the water kept shutting off during the shower and then coming back on at boiling hot temperatures. There is NO FAN in the bathroom so prepare to steam up your entire hotel room every time you take a shower.
