We loved the theme, how it was decorated. The front desk was very understanding with our early check in when we had been on a plain all night with nowhere to go before checking. We were offered a room as soon as it was available, they were very helpful. Doorman was pleasant and occomidatibg. Bellman was helpful and always at door. The beds were clean a d soft extra pillows were a great touch. The floors were not clean and it would ya e been very helpful to have a mini fridge in room. Thank you for the stay. Claire Rm 414

way too many add on fees, paid $155 to book the room ahead of time for one night at check out paid $286.

Really cozy lobby and friendly staff. You should note that the hotel is right next to a fire department, so ask for a room away from the station if you have trouble sleeping. It is located on a fairly busy street, so if noise keeps you up at night then you might want to bring earplugs.

The hotel was very stylish and great price. The hotel staff was friendly.

The location is terrific, particularly for its proximity to public transportation and Zabar's.

Room was large spacious clean bathroom and nice viewc

This location was excellent a few blocks away from subway, across the street from a cvs and a few breakfast selections. The bed was the best hotel bed that i have stayed in. Great little bar lounge area also. I would definitely stay again.

It was just what we needed. The lobby was warm, comfortable and welcoming. The staff was friendly and accommodating; I had a double stroller with kids and the attendant carried it up the few steps for me. My husband and I enjoyed the bar both nights. Our room was exactly what I expected for a New York Hotel. Some might complain about the size, but for the rate we paid it’s exactly what you get anywhere in NYC for that price. We were able to roll in said stroller without folding it. In another review I read someone complained about haviing cubbies and not real drawers. That was not a problem for knowing we were staying at a place called “the art house”. Also I noticed similar cubby/shelf accommodations at a Marriot in Connecticut, so it might be the new Universal Design. Rooms were modern, clean and artsy. We were a little afraid of being across from a firehouse, but we were never woken by sirens. The walls were fine. Again city living. We didn’t hear our neighbors but they might have heard us, we have two toddlers. We will definitely stay here again, as we travel to the UWS often. Next time we might even bring our dog! It’s also a dog friendly hotel.

Convenient location on the Upper West Side. Quiet, spacious rooms.

This hotel recently rebranded via a new name and kept all of its shining points -- great staff, clean rooms and a roomy lounge area. Personally, I cannot write enough positives about the employees, as all are wonderful, friendly and accommodating. We are and will continue to be repeat guests.

Nice hotel and good location. Would like if room was a bit bigger, but overall good experience

Nice hotel; a little bit further away from some sights, but a lot quieter than midtown

Lovely hotel and great location...warm and charming and with a nice little bar tucked in the lobby

Convenient and comfortable. Nice atmosphere. Lobby and bar area are great.

Perhaps the new role out of this hotel will improve the facilities and attitude of the check in staff. The door staff could not be friendlier. Still a good rate for clean hotel and the best one in the area but if they got some real competition I’d go someplace else.

Nice hotel, very clean and elegant, but nothing all that impressive. Rooms are small and there wasn't a nice view or anything. There is no rooftop bar or restaurant, just a small terrace area accessible to guests, which might be different in the summer months but had essentially no amenities or character. The live music in the lobby bar was the highlight, but overall it was more basic than we were hoping for.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I'm sorry you were caught off guard by taxes and fees—these are listed in detail on the hotel confirmation. Please know our goal with the urban fee is to streamline the booking process by consolidating some of the charges many hotels list separately. We know what an important consideration it is for guests on a budget, and we work with our partners to make sure it's as clear as possible when booking on any site. Warm regards, Connie
