Staff behind check in desk not friendly or welcoming. Big turn-off. When calling down to front desk, repeated hang-ups from front desk personnel. They are all need a lesson or two in customer service.
Selected for the location which is excellant. Enjoyed the rooftop bar. Appreciated the service and after checkout luggage storage.
Decor was dark. Very 1960’s vibe. Unique. Some things need to be repaired, like the door to our bathroom wouldn’t shut all the way. But, everything was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
We checked in with some issues. Seems like the Orbitz system and theirs didn’t connect around our arrangement. The hall ways were super dark, like couldn’t really see to the end of a hall. The finishes in the room were very worn out, mildew and stains in the bathrooms, as there are no real exhaust fans. In one of the two rooms the blinds were broken and closed so we had no natural light, and the limited lamps in the room provided no good lighting. On day two, we had no hot water in any room for showers and on top of that, the elevators broke down. Everyone who was to check out, had to wait in a service hallway, get on a service elevator which was large enough for 3 maybe 4 people and be escorted to the exit. While this was a perfect storm of issues, this was unacceptable for the rate.

This is such a cool property! It is dark and moody. It almost feels like a haunted hotel withouth the ick-factor. The facility is old (part of the charm) and well-maintained. I was happy with check-in. The staff is what you expect at a possibly haunted, upper manhattan hotel; they are not usually smiling but well qualified and very nice. The location is amazing, you can walk to so many places and it is in a beautiful part of Manhattan.

It is not my first time here, but sure enough my last. The front desk is extremely unfriendly and borderline rude. Nobody is ready to help and looks like as a guest, we are there for a favor. The room at this time was small and smelly. The internet never worked properly, and after 20 minutes on the phone, I gave it up. Overall, pricy but not worth it.
