The main issue is that the hotel does not have coffee available anywhere, in the mornings. They recommend going to the Starbucks on the corner. Also, the bathroom door squeaked in room 640.

A delightful, comfortable stay in the heart of Manhattan. The Empire Hotel’s location is unbeatable—nestled near Columbus Circle and the Upper West Side, it offers easy access to Central Park, Lincoln Center, and Broadway. The lobby is a visual treat, with striking artwork on the second floor and plenty of lounge chairs for relaxing or people-watching. Our standard room was compact but manageable for two travelers. While the bathroom door handle was a bit finicky (closing it required a noisy bang), and the carpets showed some wear with a faint mustiness in the hallways, these were minor quirks in an otherwise pleasant experience. What truly elevated our stay was the staff—bellhops, housekeeping, and front desk were all exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Having convenient access to the Empire Rooftop Hotel and Bar (with a reservation) was a bonus, offering a stylish spot to unwind above the city. Overall, a solid choice for anyone seeking a central, character-rich hotel with great service and a touch of old New York flair.

I enjoyed having plenty of staff on hand in the lobby keeping the hotel safe and clean. I also enjoyed having some access to the roof top to enjoy the views of the city. Loved having the outdoor space across from the hotel where you could sit in a park setting and enjoy a cup of coffee on clean benches and tables.

The Empire Hotel is conveniently located near the south end of Central Park, within walking distance to the Lincoln Center and shops on 5th Avenue. Although the hotel was experiencing elevator malfunctions, they did have staff available to escort guests to the rooftop.

When I booked I was promised a view with the park, when I arrived the people at the desk said the room I was promised was changed and not available and there was nothing they could do. Ariel and Pria were on duty the next day, they quickly made the arrangement to get me the room that I was promised. They provided exemplary customer service. I booked my week long stay at the Empire to celebrate my grand daughter’s birthday, it was an excellent stay and thank you to Ariel and Pria. Their service was a very big part of what made my stay at the Empire so enjoyable. I definitely will be back. Thank you.

Great service from staff. The hallways are extremely dark and felt a little unsafe as a single traveller! Rooms were adequate except the bathroom had a moldy smell (probably because there was no exhaust fan) with excessive water damage on the door. There is no direct access to the pool as a hotel guest - you need to climb several stairs from the top floor. The pool is extremely small in both length and width. If you're looking for a hotel with a pool this is not the place to stay! Several cafes closeby and walkable distance to shopping and other venues.

The staff was not very pleasant and it felt like they were looking down at my family. We did walk in while it was a terrible rain storm out and we were soaking wet with our luggage they literally were asking us for IDs and the keys to our room right when we walked in from outside… No hello no welcome no nothing! The beds are ridiculously small and not very comfortable they had a sheet on top of a comforter it was very strange! The pictures online looks so much nicer than what it actually is! I was not very happy with my stay at the Empire Hotel at all!

Loved our stay at the Empire Hotel! Great location for our concert at the Beacon and Central Park! Lincoln Center Plaza Fountain across the street with incredible options for food, drinks, gelatto, coffee - great cheeseburger at PJ Clarkes! Awesome Eggs Benny at the Smith! Central Park bike tour was so much fun!!

Good- Location. Close to subway transport, Target, lots of restaurants, drug stores and deli's. Across from Lincoln Center. Staff was nice. Bad- Old hotel so don't expect anything modern. Pool is small almost like a lap pool and only open until 7pm. Rooms are small, barely enough space for two people with luggage. Always missing something and had to call front desk for something. There is a $22 a day charge if you don't book the room directly with their reservation system. seemed excessive. (ie:Expedia) Summary- Find a newer hotel.

I don’t recommend this hotel due to poor customer service and the room as you walked in was moldy had to call the front desk to send someone check the ac so it can make the room cool the tiles and floor edges were moldy and the window the pool is a size of a personal pool . I asked to be checked in stepped out to get something to eat they never called me to let me know my room was ready.
