Great location. Great hotel. Great concierge. Housekeeping Staff needs to be educated on what “do not disturb” means and NOT KNOCK on your door for any reason unless of course in an emergency.
Such easy access to Lincoln Center and New York City Ballet—fabulous staff, comfort, and room amenities.
The room and bathroom were small but clean. The bathroom door seemed like it was 100 years old and the bathroom was so cramped, you could barely use the toilet. The shower had to door to close, it only had one stationary panel. I was charged for mini bar items when I didn’t take anything. Convenient location but not worth the price I paid for it. The view was a wall looking into other rooms from the hotel. I couldn’t fully close the curtains either. Next time I’ll be going elsewhere.
Great location. Rooms on small side but well appointed. Very happy with the value. Strange wallpaper in halls. Comfy bed.
The location is great, I have stayed there many times. This time the room they gave us was a fire trap. It had a table holding the Tv which left about 5" between the bed and table. To get to the bathroom or to the door it was an uncomfortable squeeze. In case of fire, it would have been a disaster The bathroom was sooo uncomfortable that you could sit on the John and wash you face at the same time..The water took a good 5 minutes to heat up and there was no mirror or coffee pot in the room. Of course we complained unceasingly and the only room available was $80. a night more. The next day they were able to change our room which was similar to the original BUT the TV was on the wall which addressed the fire trap issue. The bathroom was larger which addressed that issue and there was a coffee pot in the room. You were allowed two pods( which we had) and were charged $3.00 for each pod after that. They tried to charge us $6.00 for two pods but when I explained to them we had only two they recanted. It is a great location for the opera but they are giving you less and charging for things that should be amenities.
Not a deal breaker, but I had called in advance about room ammenaties and was told that there was an in-room coffee machine. When I inquired at the front desk I was told that only the upper floors had ammenaties. Not a big deal but it was raining and I would rather have not needed to go out in the cold morning for a cup of coffee. I also told them about a heating issue that was promptly fixed. The bath door didn't stay closed and the sink stopper was stuck in the down position.
Initial room had a view of a wall. Second room had no hot water. While rates are rare for NYC, beware that there are issues with this hotel.
Bathroom very small Funny noises coming from heating pipes No real thermostat in room
Great hotel with an excellent staff. Close to subway for quick transportation anywhere in the city. Would definitely stay here again!
Clean, beautiful, and great staff! I love the shower head!
Nice hotel and location, staff was very friendly and helpful.
We stay here several times per year for convenience because it’s near my daughter’s school. Lately, there always seems to be an issue with something. This stay, our carpet was soaking wet and we had to be moved because the air conditioner was leaking. Said our new room was a bigger corner room, but it wasn’t. No regular coffee in room and when we requested some, it never came.
clean, nice rooftop bar, good location, no complaints at all.
I'll start with the good. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Now to the bad. The room was expensive considering the size of the room and amenities. The room was the size of a coffin. Luggage can barely fit in it. The bathroom was even smaller. As soon as you walk in the bathroom, you are already on top of the toilet. Then you face left and you are in the shower. Not exaggerating. The shower didn't enough have a door or curtain to prevent water from coming out. So as soon as I was done showering, the little bit of bathroom floor was soaked. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
Excellent location! Staff is friendly and helpful. One of my favorite hotels in NYC!
I loved in NY for 12 years and looked at the Hotel Empire sign almost every day. Due to its location and exterior, I always imagined it would be the height of elegance and sophistication. I think it's because of what I imagined, that i left feeling let down. Don't get me wrong, the hotel and staff are fine, but i don't feel like i should have to request for different times for a crib to be sent to the room for my infant. On top of that, adding a crib to a hotel room shouldn't make it impossible to move anywhere else in the room. Like many NYC rooms, it was extraordinarily cramped, but adding a crib and baby stroller meant having to climb over beds to get anywhere. The hotel bar was mediocre with extraordinarily overpriced drinks. Overall, i was just really underwhelmed by the whole experience.
Pasquale is an amazing host for hotel. Great hotel, perfect location and fantastic restaurant options. This was my 5th stay and I’ll stay there again.
