The people were fantastic and the location was amazing. But all of the amenities, for which I picked the hotel online, were closed. The pool was closed, the elevator was broken, the gym was closed. In addition to that, the Wi-Fi was spotty, the paint and wallpaper on doors and walls was flaking and falling off.

A good budget option for a central location stay.

Location was perfect and staff was friendly. It was quiet. The bathroom could use some painting / patching. Bed was comfortable! View of Lincoln Center was exciting. Clean hotel.

My only request would have been to have had a coffee machine in the room.

LOVED staying at the Empire! The front desk was exceptionally friendly when we checked in. The room exceeded our expectations. We got the King Room and we had the best view that looked out onto the Christmas Tree in front of the hotel. The room was clean as well as the bathroom. I was surprised at how much space we had in the room as well. The bathroom was small, but updated and looked nice!! The shower was amazing, great size! The hotel was in the best location, we loved it. Only a 20 minute walk to Bryant Park and other popular places. Really close to Central Park and Columbus Circle. Area surrounding the hotel was super clean and not crowded at all. The staff was always nice and friendly no matter if we were coming or going. Will definitely be back!

Perfect location for my weekend enjoying the opera.

The safe didn't work, and the heater was also broken, but since the room stayed warm we didn't mind. We booked the hotel primarily to attend a performance in the Lincoln Center, which is across the street. The hotel is very convenient for that purpose!

The Empire had long been my favorite hotel to stay near Lincoln Center. Sadly, they have not come through the pandemic well. My recent stay was a complete disaster of broken room features, inattentive staff, unmasked guests, and unanswered front desk calls. The first room I was given had a persistent metal rapping sound coming from the walls. About 10:30 pm the front desk staff switched me to a room on the 10th floor that was even worse. A broken thermostat could neither be adjusted nor turned off, and my room was a stifling 80 degrees all night. Loud blowing sound from vents or wind continued all night. Calls to the front desk at what was now after 11:00 pm went unanswered. Attempts to sleep were poor, and finally I gave up at 3:00 am and never got back to sleep. Another annoying problem was very weak WiFi service that took several minutes to go from one internet page to another, or brought a message saying “unavailable.” Despite pledges on the hotel website, they are not providing a safe COVID environment. The sanitizer unit on our floor was completely empty, and I’d estimate about a quarter of guests in hallways, lobbies, and the bar were unmasked, with no objections from staff. The next morning I tried to get my room changed to no success. The front desk clerk was sympathetic to the room problems. Both he and Orbitz reps said I would be refunded for my remaining nights if I changed hotels; but after switching hotels, my refund was refused.

Staff was Great. Room was falling apart. Wallpaper peeling off. Bathroom very small. Room could have been cleaned better.

The Empire is an old hotel - we get that - but well maintained. The staff is exceptional - friendly, informative, helpful. We had one issue that we took to the front desk and it was fixed immediately - can't ask for more than that!

Usually when I stay at this hotel, everything is great! On my recent visit, the bed and sheets were dirty. The hotel changed them when I
