Basic and all that was needed. Staff were efficient at check in. Breakfast had what we needed. Short walk to a subway line that goes all of the way to manhattan. Perfect place for a simple short NYC trip.

There was so much noise at night I had trouble sleeping. I think some of it was guests in other rooms, some was hotel equipment clanging and whirring, and some was hotel staff pushing carts, slamming doors, and talking. The bed was uncomfortable. The breakfast was nearly inedible. The good news is that it felt safe enough and was reasonably (but not entirely) clean. Also, there is a really cool Asian mall nearby with tons of great restaurants.

The hotel was perfect for a quick night to sleep after a long flight. We landed at 11PM and the hotel was about 15 minutes from LaGuardia. We stayed on broadway for the rest of the trip which was amazing but very expensive. This hotel is very ideal for cost savings. The staff was very friendly and even showed us how to get to Manhattan by train/subway if we were to go that way. After riding the subway multiple times in Manhattan, I would actually feel comfortable staying at the John hotel and commuting to the city by subway daily if we travel back to NYC. I’ll
