Z Ocean Hotel South Beach

The hotel wasn't terrible, but for $242 on a Monday night plus $29 "resort fee," I expect better. The room was very large and had tons of storage space. The shower was fantastic, although there was no tub. Many things in the room didn't work. There was no "do not disturb" sign, which resulted in us being bothered by "minibar service" while sleeping. The toilet didn't flush, so we had to lift the lid and flush manually. Some of the electrical outlets didn't work. The fitness center just had cardio equipment. The pool was a small lap pool and jacuzzi with only one jet, which closed at dusk. Included in the "resort fee" was bottled water (missing), pool access (lame), gym access (also lame), beach chairs (great, but also available to the public for a small fee from the 3rd party company), and beach towels (used up when we arrived). PLUS wi-fi was $14 a day!

I stayed in Room 318 (standard room with a balcony facing Collins Ocean) for three nights with my husband and 7yo son. The room had a king size bed, two bathrooms (one with walk-in shower) a leather sofa bed and a small kitchenette area with a microwave, sink, two small refrigerators (one filled with the hotel bar items and one empty for guest use). There is also a nespresso machine with complementary coffee provided daily. Overall we had a pleasant stay. The furniture is a bit old and the rooms too need some renovations in terms of walls, decor and floors; the bathrooms sliding doors are awful as they don't lock properly. The shower was great but you need to make sure to close the door properly or you will flood the room! The best thing for us was that the rooms are very quiet (although the AC is pretty loud) and the location is very central as it is two blocks from the beach and at walking distance from major attractions in South Beach. The common areas, bar, front cafe' and pool are nice, but nothing fancy. For a 4 stars hotel I was expecting more luxury. All in all this is more like a 3 stars small hotel with good service and soundproof rooms.

Just ok, good location, room ok... Just ok, overpriced for quality with high food cost for average quality and excessive parking rates....I would never stay here again

Only thing was the $14 wifi fee and 35$ parking which wasn't in the description to inform us prior to checking in we received the invoice later that night .... They greeted us with champagne and drinking vouchers which was awesome!!!!! Overall I loved it would definitely go back.

Hotel was very clean. Room was comfortable and spacious. We were in the pool lanai room. Hotel is in a great location!

Overall experience was great. We had a great time

My girlfriend and I stayed at Z Ocean for two nights for a weekend vacation, and had a great time. We made use of the pool and hot tub, tried out the hotel bar, and loved our room. Our room had a view of the pool and hot tub, and was spacious and clean. The best part of our stay was probably the shower - five separate shower heads with adjustable pressures. My GF has a gluten allergy, and the restaurant staff was not very knowledgeable about the contents of their food, and were initially a bit dismissive, but ultimately helpful. The beach staff was great, and we definitely got our money's worth on the beach chairs and towels :).

It was an amazing stay. We'll be back very soon. One of the best hotels we're stayed at in South Beach.

This hotel was extremely clean and smelled awesome. We had a bar station inside the room and the balcony was excellent. Totally recommend! A little out of the way of the fun stuff but hey! Worth the money!

when I first arrived to the hotel I was so upset because on the outside it literally looked like a rundown motel! BUT the second I walked in I was amazed from the front desk to our BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING room. The best hotel I have ever stayed in thus far!!! So Beautiful!! I recommend this hotel!!!!

Clean Hotel, nice staff, great location, would def go back again!

This hotel was better than I thought it would be!!! One of my best Miami Trips. The penthouse partial ocean view was amazing. The staff was very helpful and polite couldn't ask for anything more from this hotel beside cheaper rates but it was well worth it. The beach is footsteps away and across the street is Jerry's 24 hour diner Great for after the club or breakfast!! Liquor store is right next door to the hotel. The rooms are a comfortable size and very clean. I'll definitely be going back to this hotel soon and definitely recommend it to others!!

We loved our stay at Z Ocean and will definitely stay there again when visiting South Beach. The room was beautiful and our balcony was bigger than I expected and had a view of Collins Ave. which was nice. The bathroom was awesome, I stayed with my friend and we each had our own sink area, this came in handly for two women traveling together. Plus there were sliding doors you could shut for privacy if some had to shower etc. while the other party could still be getting ready in their own section of the bathroom. The hotel was right in the middle of South Beach and the beach was right in back of the hotel which was super convenient. The concierge, Mickey was great, he knew about all the local attractions and helped us get tickets and reservations to restaurants. He suggested a restaurant called Yard Bird that we really enjoyed. We also had a great time in the pool area and once again great staff. The bartender Miguel was very helpful and firendly. The pool was very unique having a partial glass bottom. I really liked the pool because it was only four feet deep so as a 5ft tall woman I felt safe from drowning. The only issue we had was when leaving, we were told the day before we didn't need to book a shuttle, they would just call for one and it would come in 5 minutes. So we didn't book one, then later that night when we told the front desk we needed one the next morning they said it was too late to book one, but the cab to the airport was a flat rate of $70. The morning we were leaving that changed to $75.00. When we got into the cab we were informed that the flat rate of $70 did not exist since we were going to the Fort Lauderdale Airport. We were clear with the staff at the front desk that we were flying out of Fort Lauderdale. So we ended up spending $90 on a cab to the airport. That was the only problem we had, otherwise we had a great time and would defintiely stay there again.

We went with friends and were extremely happy with our stay. Everything was great and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Went to south beach for a short getaway. I go to miami once a year and this was the best hotel on south beach that I have stayed in. It was clean, staff was friendly and accommodating, and was located right across the street from the beach. It's walking distance from everything in south beach, that means no extra money on cabs. The rooms are comfortable size suites with balconies and the entire hotel smells like a spa. When you check in, they give you champagne and toast to your arrival. They have an area on the beach where you get one umbrella, two towels and two seats. It was great not having to worry about giving extra cash everyday for beach stuff...

Hotel Z was well-located and very nice. It wasn't knock-your-socks-off luxury--but it was nice. The kids LOVED the pool, and being right by the beach was awesome. We needed two rooms, and the hotel accommodated us by putting us in two adjacent rooms. It worked fine, but it would have been a little more comfortable for the parents if we had adjoining rooms, which the hotel did not have.

We stayed at the Z for 5 nights. We were so happy and will definitely go back. The hotel is beautiful and clean and very well maintained. The room was great with lots of storage. The bathroom is huge and nicely lit. The kitchenette was great. (It was nice to eat in a hotel room with real dishes.) We had free wi-fi thanks to signing up for the Priority Club. The staff was so nice and very helpful. We ordered lunch poolside and the service and food were very good.

We were not pleased with this hotel!!!!! First the reason I got this hotel was because of the hot tub. That was a disaster. Our hot tub in the king suite was broken. The engineers had to come two times to fix it which took up a lot of our time. And the hotel knew about the problem and yet we were given this room. Second on the Z Ocean website it appears as if the hot tub is right on the balcony which it is not. You have to climb a flight of spiraling stairs to get to the hot tub. Don't get me wrong it was a nice view but very misleading on the hotels part. The remote for the radio did not work. The A/C was not not all the great. The room is smaller than what appears. We will not stay here again unless it was for free!!

Extremely nice hotel overall. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. The pool and deck area is very small with no view and the outdoor bar closes quite early. Other than that it's a fantastic place to stay with a great location!

Awesome hotel. Wonderful staff. Comfortable bed. Perfect location. Worth spending the extra money. Would stay again. Cons: I was not so crazy about their pillows. Rooms facing the side are directly visible by next buildings over. I had to upgrade my room so I get a city view. Not the best food at the hotel. Wasn't the best drinks i had. Pros: Location The bed. Roomy. Staff is nice. Very clean. Shower has like 6 shower heads and is very large.
