TLDR: great hotel, great visit, would stay again. Older but well maintained resort. Staff was extremely friendly, though a bit slow. Maybe a bit short staffed? Our ocean view room was only a partial view, but to be fair we did not pay extra for full ocean front. We had a pretty good view on the balcony, and were high enough that we could see all the way to Black Rock. Having the beach so close was wonderful, and it was not crowded. The surf wasn’t very rough except when the tide was coming in. Great views at sunset. Lanai and Molokai are clearly visible all day. Only downside was that there were no loungers on the beach, so you had to use your pool towel in the sand. We took advantage of the breakfast buffet most days. Food was fresh and plentiful though basic, and not enough fresh fruit. They did change the menu every day. It was nice to sit outside, see the ocean, and hear the waves while we ate. We also had dinner in the restaurant one night, and the food was very good, if pricey. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping is every other day, which is fine. Only complaint is very low water pressure in the shower! We did run out of body wash one day, and had to make multiple calls to get more. The gentleman who eventually showed up (a manager?) was quite apologetic and made a second visit to make sure we had enough of everything else. Pool was nice but nothing special. No hot tub. Hotel within walking distance of Whalers Village for shopping and dining.

Check in was disastrous, staff unapologetic. Rooms are dirty, staff not helpful. Especially the night manager. Resort, yet no room service. Only restaurant closes at 9, so you’d think there’d be a microwave available to reheat food you purchased for later on in the night. Just a disappointing establishment. Overall 3/10.

Beautiful clean room. The activities were fun… yoga, hula and ukulele lessons. We were there on a business retreat. The beach was lovely and the pool area was nice. There is a shuttle to the nearby shopping area.

Let me start off by saying, we consider ourselves travelers and not tourists. We are not high maintenance people and we go with the flow for most things. We stayed at the RL in December’25 to scatter my parent’s ashes. The good: the grounds are amazing, the rooms are amazing, the beach is amazing. The beach is the best beach we’ve ever been to, wasn’t overly crowded and tons of space so you’re not on top of others. There’s nightly acoustic music and the tree and lanterns are truly magical at night. The bad: first off 4pm to check in is already ridiculous. We had booked two rooms, one for my husband and I, one for our 3 sons, 19, 16, 14. Our room was ready at 4, our boys’ room wasn’t ready until past 5. Which was a problem because we had (very expensive) luau tickets. By the time we were able to get into both rooms, we had 4 minutes until sunset. We weren’t happy about that. The service at the restaurant: we had to literally send 3 meals back because they were the completely wrong meal that we ordered. They did take one meal off our bill. The guy that took our luggage to our room wouldn’t listen to us when we said all our luggage would fall off the golf cart. He piled it on anyway and as we suspected, our luggage went flying off the cart. All in all, the resort itself is amazing, most staff were friendly, but the service was lacking in some areas. Not sure we would return just because it’s too damn expensive to have the lack of service.

The resort was nice with a few complaints. The food quality is not worth the prices they charge. Our bathroom sink had a sewage smell to it. Their fire pit did not turn on and the hot tub was "sealed off". Also, there is no night life around the resort, it has a wonderful and chill vibe to it but there is very little to do around the resort.

I booked this trip via expedia for 6 nights for 2kids and 2 adults for a King bed with oceanview as expedia showed it sleeps 4. Next day I find out there is no sofa bed in the room so I request expedia to change it to 2 double beds which is a month in advance. Expedia confirms next day my request is approved. When I reach there at 9pm Royal Lahaina tells me you dont have 2 d beds nor a sofa bed and if I want rollaway bed pay$ per night. I ask them to change it they denied. Called expedia and all I get is a SORRY. I ended up spending 6 nights in a crunched hotel room with 4 people not really a Relaxing vacation I planned for . DONT BOOK EVER WITH EXPEDIA THEY WILL GIVE YOU NIGHTMARE. Lahaina also pointed to Expedia no help or assistance provided. Expedia has lost a customer I wont ever book with expedia anymore.

Rooms were nice with great ocean view but seems to need some renovations soon as everything was worn down (all the wood finishes) and outdated. Restaurant was nice but very over priced with small portions; staff was great all-around. Direct access to beach which was never overcrowded.

Amazing, friendly staff and easy access to one of the best parts of the beach. Food and drink very pricey for the quality. Doesn’t feel as busy as the the larger resorts to the north and south.

People are already paying higher price for vacation. at least Breakfast should be free. Also no microwave, which is impossible for special diet need people to prepare food for them self. Even with kids, to warm milk it is hard without microwave. Parking charge very expensive, parking should be free.

The cleanliness of the room was lacking. The entire floor, including inside our room, had a musty/moldy smell. Towards the end of the week when the hotel was fully booked, the smell morphed into sewer gas. We were worried about the plumbing based on the awful order. The staff was not really friendly and typically seemed annoyed when approached, except in the dining areas and bar. One night they closed the kitchen early because they ran out of “most items on the menu.” Honestly, it seemed the hotel was ill-equipped to handle being fully booked. The grounds are lovely and we had a fabulous ocean view from our tower room. I booked through Expedia but phoned the hotel directly to confirm there would be a pull out bed in our room for our teenager. The person I spoke with said “oh yes.” However, upon check in, no pull out bed. When I inquired of the front desk the curt response was that none of the tower rooms have a pull out. Since I could not remember the name of the man I spoke with months prior, they charged me an additional $45 per day to bring in a crappy cot and acted like they were doing me a huge favor. Oh, and then there was the day we returned to our room to find the digital clock gone. When we checked in at the front desk to inquire we received the usual annoyed , you must be crazy, response from the staff. Thankfully we spent most of our time on the grounds at the pool or beach dealing with staff there that was nicer. The view and grounds are the best features.

Totally overpriced… aging rooms although the bed was comfortable and ac was silent. “Ocean view” partially blocked by adjacent building. Room service every second day… ridiculous at this price level and unfair for cleaning staff who cannot get tips. Less than friendly check in… glad we only stayed two nights here and looking forward to getting back to a super friendly and world class Marriott in Waikiki.

Room did not even had microwave or chair & desk. In fact there were no microwaves on entire property. Checkin staff was stern but they helped with our request. We only tried breakfast one day and found it to be very lacking in terms of selection as well as options. Similarly the dinner menu was very very limited so we never tried it. There are so many high end resorts near by but they need you to drive at least half mile each way just to go to the left side of them which I found baffling, the road only has right side turn. The roasters were a very big nuisance as they started making sound at 3am every night of our stay and they would go off every minute. The room were not at all sound proof.

Overall stay was good. Very quiet and peaceful property. Room seemed a little dirty and breakfast service was not the best. Beautiful beach and not over crowded. We had dinner there the first night and it wasn’t very good. Great location and beach but eat somewhere else.
