We were traveling to FL. for the winter and stopped here on the way down and back. The rooms were reasonable, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and made two great restaurant suggestions which will be reviewed next. Easy on and off the highway with a gas station right there. It will be our stopping point in our future winter get a ways to Fl.
When coming off I-75, this has to be one of the most difficult hotels ever for directions. Our GPS told us to exit right 'but stay in the left lane' which confused us when we got to the next stop as there are lanes actually going left and two lanes exiting right but we were supposed to stay in the 'left lane turning right' as it immediately channels into one lane - with a big friggin' unnecessary cement barrier - which then exits on to the street the hotel is based. If you miss it, you're hooped until the next exit so be sure you can manage to get in the correct lane at the start. They honored our $79 coupon and our room was clean. I always travel with antiseptic sheets and clean every knob, remote, handle, etc., and check the beds. The beds were clean and comfy however the pillows were lumpy. I really wish hotels would allow you to open a window as we always put a large bath towel over the vents as we don't know what kind of bacteria is flowing out of them. They offer a fairly good continental breakfast of eggs, sausages, yogurts, fruit, etc., and just THE best hot coffee! We filled up our travel mugs and left contented.
After attempting to check in to about 5 other hotels that were full, we were running out of options! We came across this hotel at 10pm. I called to ask the rate and he gave me a rate that was quite high for a 2 double bed room (I can't remember the last time I slept in a double bed - aren't queens standard now?) The rate was marginally lower than a few other rates we got for suites in other hotels but I happened to have a coupon for $79. I asked him about it and said the lowest he could do was $109 because they were at occupancy. Because we were tired and I had to get my two small boys to bed, we accepted it. The check in process was quick and the guy was friendly. We went to our room and found that it was filthy! The floor hadn't been vacuumed at all and there were toenails (!) and wood shavings on the floor! The channel listing chart was filthy and sticky and the light switch to the bathroom had dirt on it and there were stains on the carpet. I called the front desk and he apologized and gave me another room and dropped my rate to $99. I went to the next room and was shocked to find that there was hair all over the pillows and bed, not to mention stains on the desk and floor. I went down and complained again and he apologized again and said he would check another room personally and call me with the room number. The next room was cleaner but there were toothpaste blob stains on the carpet in front of the sink and there was a stain in the fridge but at this point, I had to get my kids to bed. At least the main areas of the carpet in which you would walk were clean. However, any other floor area (between the bed and night table/wall and under the sink vanity) were still not vacuumed - they had a lot of dust and dirt. We thoroughly checked the beds for anything and found that underneath the mattresses, there was filth on the bedskirt sheet but at least our sheets and blankets were clean. The bathroom sink was clogged and wouldn't drain. We've never had such a bad experience on our trip down to Florida! I would not recommend staying here at all! There are plenty more options down the road. The main hallways did not appear to be vacuumed either. The reception area seemed clean but furniture and wallpaper appears old and in need of repair. I like that there are Keurig machines in the room but was reluctant to use it because I wasn't sure it had ever been cleaned. The rooms were not that quiet either - I heard the TV from the next room, highway noise and am actually writing this at 1:50AM as I've been woken up by a base beat that was going on for quite a while. My sleep - until now was restless because of this double bed. There's hardly any room for my husband or I to turn! I guess we're forced to cuddle tonight! As I read other guests reviews, I notice that management usually responds with something along the lines of "We take all of the reviews we receive very seriously as they allow us to identify areas that may benefit from additional attention. We have shared your comments with the staff and we’re confident the necessary adjustments will be made, in order to achieve complete guest satisfaction" Clearly these issues are not taken into consideration nor do any complaints left here cause much change. A Holiday Inn brand hotel in this disgraceful state is appalling.
This is a great little hotel for a quick stay over. My check-in was fast and friendly. The rooms are clean, comfortable and look newer. The breakfast area is nice with good choices. I would recommend.
We have stayed at many HIE hotels (our preferred hotel chain when traveling by car) and this one is in the bottom half of average. It is a fairly large hotel by HIE standards, a six story facility and it feels older with parts of the hotel showing age. It almost felt like an older Holiday Inn rather than a more modern HIE. We chose an "Executive" King room and found nothing different than any other King room anywhere. The bathroom was tiny and dimly lit. The shower walls had been updated at some point with a 5 piece enclosure which was warping in the middle joint of the back wall and there was an attempt to fix it poorly with silicone. The sink was very small and outside of the bathroom, so if one person is using it, it disturbs the other one trying to sleep. The wallpaper seams were pulling apart in the room and the ceiling tiles on the fourth floor vending area were sagging. Finally, there was a gap in the room door that you could almost see into the hallway. On the positive side, the shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. We also had a good breakfast in the morning. If we are in the area again, this will do in a pinch, but will probably drive elsewhere and hope for a better HIE.
Firstly, their internet speed and breakfast are exceptional (for free services offered at a hotel). Actually while we're on the subject of things they do here that are standard at other places but Holiday Inn Express here in Kennesaw does better...every room I've stayed in has a small coffee maker. They have a full blown Kuereg (sp) machine in the rooms! Anyhow, the facilities are as nice as anywhere in the price range. It's the little things that stand out.
Because of previous stays at this hotel, I actually looked forward to my stay. Ideal location with many good restaurants within walking Distance. Hotel. Previously offered an evening snack which was appreciated as well. When checking in, asked about complimentary snacks and was informed that they were discontinued due to New Owner. Walking through hotel enroute to room, decline was obvious related to housekeeping. Didn't realize until the following morning that room didn't have any washcloths either. Internet was almost non existent. Breakfast was a joke. Picked up 2 different Bagels, that were beyond stale, and hard as a rock. Same with English Muffins that literally fell apart. Coffee in room was good as they were Keuirg. Coffee in Breakfast area was like Brown Water--> Tasteless, but same at all HIE as of late. Note: Next Overnight visit was in Milledgeville whereas old hotel was closed and the New Hotel hadn't opened. Thus stayed in a Fairfield. What a wonderful experience. Accommodation was wonderful. Breakfast, including coffee wasn't second rate. For $195.00 per night, this was a total rip off.
Location isn't bad, plenty of restaurants in the area and the value of the hotel is pretty good. Room was clean and the bed offered a decent nights sleep. The area was a pretty good area unless you are into the night life.
I booked my room 3 weeks in advance and requested a sofa and bathroom with a tub. I assumed this would be enough notice but called 3 days in advance to confirm. I was told that HIG did not offer any option for securing a particular room and that room would be assigned upon arrival. So upon arrival I made my request but was told the hotel was booked solid and my room needs could not be met. Right next door is a Comfort INN where I could have had a suite for much less money. The bathroom was in need of repair and as I said my room was priced more in the suite category but it was far from a suite. Look around and check prices, this is not one of the nicer Holiday Inn Express facilities.
Check in was pleasant and a breeze, the room was lovely, nice and clean! However, no sleep....at all....There were so many children/teens present so I am assuming some event. But they stalled the elevators playing, ran up and down the halls, and were just loud... We were disturbed more times then I can count. I left thankful for the noon check out because I was exhausted. We moved next door for the 2nd leg of our stay.
