Stayed 6/1 to 6/3, the hotel's outward appearance is good and the staff was very friendly. I'm a long time Marriott Rewards member, having stayed at several Marriott Hotels and Resorts. However, this hotel was the first time I have ever had a bad experience. It wasn't the cleanest hotel. I reserved a 2 BR suite and a 1 BR suite (2 rooms). Following check-in at approximately 6pm, I walked into my assigned 2BR suite and noticed luggage and clothing. I guess it was given to someone else. I returned to the front desk and was told there wasn't another available, which was okay because I was provided (2) 1 bedroom suites in it's place but not with my government discount which was on the 2BR. However, the next issue was my credit card had previously been swiped for the 2BR and the 1BR and a hold was placed. Then the front desk person said they had to swipe my card again, so now I had 3 holds on my account during a holiday weekend. Luckily, I had enough to cover but it was unacceptable that I was penalized with another hold on my card for the hotel's mistake. Lastly, management needs to know not every guest utilizes the dishes and their needs to be a checklist to at least see if they are clean. The dishes in my room were dusty and dirty. Additionally, I have read other posts and agree that the cleaning crew although very nice do not clean up to the standards of their other properties. Protocol is to place your dirty towels near the bathroom sink and they should be removed, however, my towels remained. I just think managment isn't up to par because paying attention to the details is what makes a stay at a hotel great, not just friendly persons. This hotel was subpar to my other stays at Marriott properties. Other than those issues I had a great stay and will not let this experience prevent me from returning because it's correctable.
The last year i have stayed at this facility four times. Every stay was excellent. During my most recent stay last week, the entire team did a great job of attending to our needs and making us feel welcome. Titus and Kemaul at the front desk were very accommodating and service oriented. There was absolutely nothing that developed that the local team was not willing to help with.Our rooms met our needs perfectly and the rates that they provided us were very competitive. This facility has consistently been my "go to" choice when I travel to Jackson, and this experience only further reinforces that preference. This facility is located very smartly near an endless number of dining options. if you have business in the area, this is a great choice. Compared to other options in the area, this is always the best option.
The good: My bed is comfortable, which coming from me is a lot because I'm picky about my bed. The decor is nice, as is the amount of storage space. The bad: Carpet is stained and there is no oven available in a studio room, I'm REALLY bummed about that. Housekeeping does not do anything but change sheets and towels, and they've yet to clean my tub. I scheduled a wake-up call for 4:15am which didn't happen. The ugly: All of my silverware needed to be re washed and I'm absolutely certain that the first bowl was not washed but licked clean. Literally. Last night small children moved in above me and were quite noisy for a long time and management does not care at all about my concerns.
Checked in. Front desk super friendly. Got upgraded to two bedroom suite. We had stayed here before several years ago and enjoyed our stay. Entered our room and immediately smelled the remnants of a once smoking room. Carpets stained, furniture worn and a box of half-eaten donuts under one of the beds. The 2nd floor room overlooked the rooftop complete with the outside lighting shining in our window and drapes that would not close all the way. Add loud upstairs neighbors and the stay was awful. Daily staff seemed very friendly but with as quickly run-down nature of this hotel speaks of management problems. Platinum Members so we are familiar w Marriott and Residence Inn standards. This hotel does not cut it. Will not be returning.
Not sure who made out with the location of this property...honestly a pitching wedge to I-40, with a good swing you might clear it! I average 115 nights per year, have weeded out the "will not go back there again" properties and will add this location to the list. The footprint of this property is completely backwards...why not have the parking lot closer to I-40 rather than the property...some farmer made a bundle and a sight engineer should be fired. Even with ear plugs and the a/c on 60 the noise of I-40 is like a NASCAR race. To add to the enlightenment the room was very experienced--carpet stains and the bed appeared to be on springs from grandmas attic. Every time I rolled over to adjust a pillow over my head, the sound of the mattress/box springs was crunching. The next morning i asked the front desk attendant if she receives complaints about noise and the look on her face was so defeating, closed her eyes and shook her head in a positive motion and said, "I am so sorry, yes that is something we hear a lot." Her body actions were much more powerful than the words spoken. Good luck Marriott--you're gonna need it for the future of this property.
This hotel was very disappointing. I stay at RI because they offer the 2 bdrm suite option. Upon checking into our room, we discovered it had not been prepared for guests very well. No kitchen washcloth, dishtab, soap. Obvious food debris on floor, dirty pan in stove. Items left from previous occupant (humidifier, dirty socks, etc) No trash bags in cans, no sheets for fold out sofa. Also, the toilet was cracked and loose. During our three night stay, we played a game to see which parts of the suite housekeeping would attend to - it was different everyday. No vacuuming inspite of obvious food crumbs on floor. Trash bags arrived on day three, however soaps and TOILET PAPER (discovered upon need) did not. The furnishings have been left in a state of unsightly disrepair. Severely stained carpets and walls, broken furniture cracked and peeling. Ashley, Will, and Latoya were very helpful upon check in and check out. Jaucana and another young man kept the breakfast well stocked and tidy. Jaucana was especially attentive to guest needs. Overall, I see Marriot ignoring Resident Inns upkeep. I will look to the Homewood Suites which also offer 2 bedroom suites in the future.
We stay in hotels more than 100 nights a year. This is one of the first that I had to wear ear plugs in order to get a night's sleep because of all of the highway noise. The front desk person was really trying to get us a good room as we are Marriott Platinum members, but I doubt if there are many rooms that do not have traffic noise. What was more disappointing was the cleanliness of the cooking utensils, plates and flatware. The cover from the skillet was filthy and had not even been cleaned from the previous guest. My wife suffers from food allergies and cross contamination is a big issue, so we had to wash everything before using it. I did bring the skillet cover to the front desk to show them and they were surprised, but that was it. Ironically, it is not an inexpensive hotel. I would not stay here again, and would not recommend it.
First time to stay at this hotel. I requested a first floor room and was very pleased with the decor and furnishings. They were what you would expect from a higher priced hotel. The room was more of a "suite" than a single hotel room. The kitchen area was small but adequately equipped. Kitchen counters and bathroom vanity was granite. Good water pressure in the tub/shower and the temperature was easily adjusted. In addition to a good complimentary "continental" breakfast, the hotel also provides a free "hamburger and salad" bar on some evenings. Beer was on tap in addition to soft drinks and wine Typically, my room would go for about $130 but we received a government employee discount. The hotel is also one exit away from the Jackson "Generals" minor league baseball stadium (triple A team). A very comfortable ball park with great parking and admission prices. Not a reason to stay elsewhere, but the drive-up entrance to the hotel is not covered and there are no restaurants within walking distance. The staff was very helpful and friendly but not "pushy." All in all, I feel this is very comfortable place to stay.
I have been staying in this hotel for over four years. I am a Platinum Elite level member of Marriott. There has been a recent change to the management and the hotel has went from great to poor. I used the mobile check in option and selected my check in time for 4PM. I requested extra soap and lotion for my check in. I received a notification on the Marriott APP stating that my request would ready when i checked in. As i went to check in the woman at the front desk Meg was not very friendly to me. She was very short with her questions and answers. This hotel also made up an additional requirement to check in. They made a noise policy and stated that i had to sign it before i checked in. I stated that i have stayed at this property for about four years and that I was Platinum Elite level and have never seen this before and that i did not want to sign this. This is a Marriott policy just something this hotel made up so that people don't have parties in the hotel. I was up there for Army training and i just wanted to check in my room and get ready for training. She stated i couldn't check in with out signing it. She went and got the manager i believe his name was JC. When he came out he was not professional. He was wearing sun glasses while handling the complaint. I informed him i have stayed at this property for over four years and my level with the company Platinum Elite, however he stated i couldn't check in unless i sign the noise policy, I told them i have never been treated like that at any Marriott property. I went out side to calm down and was going to another hotel, but due to the time there were not many hotels left with vacancy. I went back in and signed the paper and went to my room. The room was ok, however the house keeper didn't make the room up the following day. I didn't let them know due to the unfriendly front desk person. The other marriott policy is that the front desk person speaks and greets each guest when they pass by, Meg failed to speak to me the following weekend and gave me very cold looks each time i passed the front desk. I saw her being friendly to other guests, so i am aware that she is capable of it, but just refused to be nice to me. That caused me to have a terrible and very awful treatment that weekend. I told Meg that i refuse to stay at this hotel every again because of the terrible treatment from them at the front desk and the unprofessional manner in which the manager would address an issue with sun glasses and he was unable to resolve the issue. The policy if suppose to be for people with animals and kids that are noisey. I felt very much disrespected and i will never stay at this hotel again.
We've never stayed in a room anywhere in the world that was so close to a major highway! We couldn't believe they built the hotel in that location. Our window was only 80 to 90 feet away from Interstate 40, the truck noise was unbelievable. On top of that, the a/c unit made a loud droning noise every time it came on. Needless to say, we got very little sleep. The hotel was fully booked yet there was only one lady on duty and she was swamped. The hairdryer in our room was missing, my wife had to wait 20 minutes after showering before one could be delivered. One of our glasses was broken, the bed creaked loudly every time we moved, I could go on and on. We felt like we were staying in a Motel 6 type facility instead of a Marriott property. Stay elsewhere!!
