This has been my go to place to stay when I visit Gatlinburg, which is usually 2 or 3 times a year. It is off the main strip so as to avoid all the noise and commotion but there is a free trolley stop at the lobby so getting back and forth is easy. I have been using the Sidney James for many years now and it is generally in decent condition despite its age. But this visit was quite different. I was in room 106 from 24 December to 27 December 2025 and found this room to be in terrible condition. There were 3 long black hairs in the tub/shower area, 2 stuck to the wall. There were dents in the walls, no microwave, windows were dirty, and other issues that should not have been in a room rented to the public.

The parking is atrocious. The rooms are dingey and dark. The room wasn't cleaned at all during our stay. I went to the office to ask for more towels and asked if room service would be in for the dirty linens. The front desk clerk said no there's a bin to put them in. The bathroom was disgusting and tiny. The shower had a rust stain in it and when you stood in the tub it felt as though it bowed down. I'll never stay there again.
