This hotel is in a great location for the city centre. Nearest parking is not very close to the hotel. Wifi was down during our stay here and was told by staff to call the engineers myself. Upon arrival we were given the wrong room key and went into someone else's room by mistake. The room was slightly small but comfortable. Would recommend this hotel for a short stay if your not too fussy.

I often stay here on business. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. Large bar and restaurant are both pretty good. It’s in a good location 15 mins in to town on foot. Its as good as if not better than the big chains but it is not a luxury hotel. The great thing is you can use the university gym. Lots of machines, free weights, swimming pool tip top.

beware that lots of noise outside didnt get any sleep. double billed for breakfast. was told not included so charged for breakfast only to find out deal booked did include breakfast looking at paperwork. wont be staying here again.

Several negatives about the location, venue etc following training course in first week of September 1. Shocking place to find by car..... seriously guys, sort out the directions! 2. Check-in process and staff very good 3. Signage to rooms needs attention... it's a maze 4. Very limited bar food options when restaurant is closed.... that said, it was good when it arrived 5. Breakfast was cold .... not ideal for bacon/egg/sausages..... 6. Sea bass was a 5mm thick fillet.... salad and potato was nice but cheated out of the best bit! 7. Fire alarm on evening after getting to sleep was unnecessary ... and apparently not uncommon ..... seems they are evacuated every time any alarm goes off on campus .... sort it guys! 8. Rooms are rubbish.....unless you like student dorms! Dirty, cracked walls, very uncomfortable beds and enough wardrobe space to hang 3 hangers. 9. 2 days to fix a wifi issue ....at a leading university ? 10. On the positive site, the Staff are brilliant ! Sorry but when my next training course is arranged I won't be back to stay at these prices ..... Premier Inn and a takeaway would be better.

Booked a two night stay for some business in Birmingham. Only reason i decided to go for it was because it was close to the location i needed to attend. Check in was very simple, rooms clean and tidy with expected itinerary. Booked room with breakfast too, which was buffet style, great choice as well for the price. Only thing id say they need to improve on would be to update their website so that info is more easily obtainable e.g. check in/out times, menus for breakfast/lunch/dinner and general hotel info.

I attended a conference here in July. I can only describe it as shambolic. One week before the event they advised that the conference room we had booked was not available at night, even though the contracts had been drawn up months in advance and included a payment for night security. Having agreed a work around for the Saturday night they set up the room in completely the wrong layout and had so few staff on duty (1 person running the bar for over 250 people!) it was horrible to sort out. They didn't seem to care in the slightest. I sincerely hope I never have to return to this venue. The hotel rooms are ok but could really use updating and especially air-conditioning. It was a hot summer and they were all but impossible to sleep in. Getting around the conference facilities was pretty bad too, as a disabled person who is not yet confined to a wheelchair the only option was stairs. The wheelchair lift was so bad that a friend had to get off her motorised chair and use the stairs while it went up on the lift. Their attempt at selling lunches was a joke - soggy sandwiches even though we had specifically asked in advance for a gluten free option. According to the staff the management are not willing to spend any real money to improve the place and don't bother talking to the people who actually staff the events - which explains why this whole experience was awful. I really felt sorry for the staff who seemed to be doing everything they could, but with no management support they did not stand a chance.

First visit here. Excellent large, clean and comfortable room with everything you could need. Pleasant staff. Short walk to city centre and transport links. Book car parking on campus in advance. Would definitely stay here again if travelling to Birmingham.

This was the third time I had stayed here and can recommend it. Staff were super, conference facilities good, food and service in restaurant excellent. Room was spacious but problem with ventilation. There was a very noisy air vent which blew out freezing air. I had to put subtitles on the tv as it was so noisy and I didn't want to disturb neighbours by having to turn up sound excessively. Luckily this switched off at 10pm each evening but there was no way to regulate it. Problem with phone signal as others have experienced also. Quite noisy on street side. Previously, I have always had an internal room which was quieter. Did not like having to prebook parking as ridiculous to say you need to check out before 8am or pay a whole new day and not cheap at that, while others in my group were told it was ok not to pay the last day. Sort it out please!

Stayed at the hotel and it was an amazing experience. The room was of a high standard and the staff were polite. The hotel was actually a pleasant surprise and did not expect this. I would recommend a stay in this hotel next time you visit Birmingham.

After using a hotel comparison site I got a single room at the Conference Aston for a bargain price. I stayed one night in a single room so I could stay out late to socialise with friends in the city. Seeing as I got such a good deal I wasn't expecting much. An uber from new street station was only £3-4. The reception was very well presented and I was greeted by a very helpful and friendly lady on reception. I was told where my room was and got a moment to look around. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with lots of very smart and comfortable places to sit inside and outside. My room was clean and the single bed was much bigger than I expected. The walls were quite thick so there was no trouble with noise. I liked that I was on the 3rd level and still I could open the window a little for some fresh air. The bathroom was very clean except the shower head could have done with a scrub. The little bottles of gel were very handy seeing as i had packed two shampoos by an accident. The towels were soft and plenty of them. The sockets in the room were handy and I also used the hairdryer which made things easier for getting ready. The tv was an added bonus and worked perfectly. It was nice to see a fan in the room but i did not use it as the room was cool enough. Tea in the room was a nice gesture and I was impressed with the free water cooler in the corridor. When i got back to the hotel at 3am I was let in swiftly with no troubles. I was impressed with the breakfast and decided to put my luggage in the storage room while I went for breakfast. I was shown to a seat and received a pot of tea and shown everything on offer. I will be honest with you, the food played a big part in helping me though my hangover and without it I would have never had got back on the train. Now i have stayed at this hotel I would be more than willing to pay the normal price to stay again, I just wish my stay was longer.
