Arrival at the hotel was warmly received. Got into a lift with another guest where he asked if I had just arrived. His comment was good luck the hotel its dirty and smelly and very poor indeed. Got to my room and was really disgusted at the smell that confronted me. Could only a-liken it to manure. The carpet was dirty. The side of the uncomfortable bed had something that resembled human body fluids and the rest of the room was no better. The evening meal was your Toby Carvery standard dog food and the breakfast was around the same although giving credit to old Toby at least they have a good selection to choose from Couldn’t wait to get out of there. I even tried the gym which was of the same sad level of hygiene and most of the equipment had seen better days Hey ho! Don’t have to go back there again. Thank god!

Booked the hotel through booking.com because the hotel looked really nice from the pictures and paid extra for a superior deluxe room . Me and my partner wanted to check out venues for having weddings with the hotel being our first thought of looking at (again due to online pictures) . First impression on arrival was good and looked really nice from the outside . Waited a bit for our room to be ready so actually enjoyed the sandwhiches from the bar asswell as a drink (were cheap for what we asked for ) . Once the room was ready we went straight to it only too find a unclean , Horrible room . All plugs were missing from the basin and bath (asked house keeper for a plug for bath) , extractor wasnt working and the dust on the exterior of it looked like it hadnt bin cleaned , checked for a long time . The mould on the bath tap put us off part way through our bath washing in it . The bed was a joke as you would see in the pictures . The TV HAD 6 CHANNELS !!! With 2 remotes to work it as buttons didnt work on each of them . A smell which i couldnt put my finger on . This caused a arugment between me and my partner , i did manage to calm her down as i said well maybe the wedding info might change our feelings on the place . Went to reception to get leaflets/books on offers/listings/menus and returned to the room (what i got was a printed A4 binder) too show the miss and was 2 years out of date (extremely over priced ) . Enough is Enough ... Asked to see manager and was greeted by the manager . I showed him the video footage of the room and pictures in which he was very understanding . Asked what would of i got if i paid for standard room (big difference in price) and he couldnt answere . Asked for a different room which he couldnt provide as they were fully booked . Asked if i could stay in one of the other sister hotels in the local area and he did manage to sort this out for us even tho the night was already wasted for our lovely weekend away . He did organise a taxi and gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvience . If i could rate the staff of the hotel they would get a 5***** for keeping a smile through everything including the compliants (witnessed to much for only being there for 4 hours) . The taxi took us to the coventry Hill Hotel . The Hotel was even worse and googled how much (difference) the stay there would of bin which was huge . This chain is a joke as i stay in hotels all over the country and it was not advertised as a britinia hotel which we would not of booked otherwise . Everything very dated and food you wouldnt even feed the dog (got video footage of breakfast buffet and another guest complaining about the food lol) Feel cheated , lied too , conned . I have even sent a email , written letter and have bin basically Fobbed off . Now taking what i have further with videos and pictures . P.s I did promise the first manager that i would not post a review which i appolagise ... because of how i feel about my letters being ignored i have it taking further . I can not upload videos but i am open to forwarding to people if you contact me .

This is by far the worst place I've ever stayed!! They make sure they get payment as soon as you arrive, as they know what the rooms are like!... when you then complain, the tell you that they can't give you a refund and that they need to speak to an Area Manager, .. when you get the Area manager, they then offer you £20,.. when you decline this, it then gets passed to the Finance department who offer you half the money back,... this process to this point took two weeks of chasing. I settled at this as they where truly wasting my time as well as my visit! The room stank of cigarettes, .. of which by the way, they still allow smoking rooms and don't tell you that when they give you one. The corridor on the second floor through the fire door is worth a visit! Black ceilings, stench of cigarettes and the start of some horror film. The room was filled with dust and green in the shower, as per my photos,... the electrics haven't been tested since 2014, but they said this is not essential when I questioned. They also tape up loose wires themselves with red tap. If anyone gets a chance, check a fire alarm and see when that was last tested,... I wouldn't be surprised if this also has been left. Go here, and you'll spend money that you will never see the full amount back from,... however awful your stay.

Nice hotel, great facilities in terms of gym and pool and great value for money. However, it's a bit strange. When booking in I was asked if I'd like to eat in the restaurant which is open for 2 hours only 7 - 9pm. If I paid when checking in it would £8.95 for a three course carvery or £12.95 on the door. The other option was a bar meal. Having not seen the bar or restaurant I took a punt and paid up front. I went to gym (£4.00 extra charge), it was good then freshened up and headed down to the restaurant for 6.45pm. I checked in at the desk and was asked if I had a reservation, I showed my pre paid voucher. Ah, that just confirms you've paid, not reserved - if you'd like a table it'll be 7.45pm. I didn't wish to wait an hour! I voiced my dissatisfaction and was advised that I could get the carvery food and bring it into the bar to eat and in this case I could eat at 7pm. So I ordered a drink at the bar. As I sat in the bar I noticed a lack of tables or just low tables and thought I'd be better off taking the 7.45 slot in the restaurant. I went to the desk to explain - don't worry, I've got two extra tables so you can eat in the restaurant at 7pm was the reply. Confused but happy I went into the restaurant at 7pm. The restaurant easily sat 60 people and at 7pm there were 8 of us. At 7.15 there were 8 of us. At 7.30 there were 10 of us and at 7.45 (my original suggested dinning time) there were 12 of us eating. When I'd finished and moved back into the bar people were being told of a 30 minute wait for tables. Food was fine, very much a 1990's classic carvery stuck in a time warp but good value nonetheless. Would I want a wedding here? Would I want a weekend here? Who is it targeted at? It seems to lack a true identity but it's clearly trying hard and I would return to this quirky place if I was on business.

PLEASE SAVE YOURSELVES THE HORROR. Do not stay here. WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. We were supposed to stay for 2 nights, but after an appalling first night, in which i had to clean our room before i could bring myself to go to bed, we cancelled our second night, and went to travelodge instead. (I am a stereotype, and have never complained about anything in my life ever, hair in food just goes to the side of my plate and then i nod politely when asked if my meal was alright. So to actually complain and cancel our second night was a really really big deal!) There were random bits of carpet and wallpaper missing in the corridors (not to mention the empty bottle of cheap rum left unnoticed on the stairs). The mattress and chair had holes in the fabric and were stained. The towels had holes in them too. Everywhere was dusty/grimy: the lights, windows, curtains, walls etc. Every nook and cranny had those piles of dust you always get in neglected rooms. I refused to touch the carpet with my bare feet or even put any possessions on the floor out of pure ick factor! The bathroom was dreadful too. The taps in the sink were encircled in rings of that orange grime, and the shower was covered in black mould. It took a mere 5 minutes of showering before threatening to overflow as the shower drain was blocked. I cleaned the taps, and it wasn't difficult. There were very few issues that couldn't have been rectified with some bleach and elbow grease. It was clear that nobody cared. I would never have my house that dirty, let alone a hotel! 30 minutes of thorough cleaning before we arrived could have saved the hotel from losing our custom, not difficult! The poor girl on the desk was very sweet and i feel sorry for her as i couldn't bear staying 2 nights, poor thing has to work there!!! Cheap and NOT WORTH IT.

A terrible experience, tired, worn out hotel, poor food, everything seems to be an "extra" and staff dont seem very focused on customers. I booked for 2 nights as part of a business trip, checked out early and found somewhere else to stay.

Ill keep it quick, we arrived to find that the Hotel was over booked, we could only stay for one night instead of the two night that we all booked, the staff didn't offer any alternative Hotels and in fact showed no concerns for the Hotels mistake. we were just advised to find another hotel for the second night, in fact as we found out later this was a good thing as the rooms were untidy and worn, no hot water available to was in, so cold showers for us all, the rooms kettle was dirty and unclean. So in short only stay here if you can't find anywhere else.

This is a large Hotel/Conference Centre on the outskirts of Coventry. It is used for all manner of functions, from Dog Shows to Army Reunions. The facilities are average at best, and the whole place needs a little attention and a lick of paint. If you run a conference centre, and businesses are going to use it, the one thing that is an absolute MUST, is good reliable and fast Internet and WIFI. This place fails miserably in this department. I am quite happy to pay a few pounds exttra on my bill if the establishment has good WIFI and Internet. What the Royal Court Hotel does, is try and sell you a "voucher" which gives you a limited time etc. This DOES NOT WORK, and there were many complaints from residents who really needed social media access in order to fulfill and perform their business. Reporting the failings to the reception was pointless, as you are then told that the hotel are not responsible for the service as it is handled by a third party company, and they were not responsible for providing a refund. These days, as sad as some folks might think, WIFI and Internet access are essential for any traveller, and based on this alone, and the unhelpful response from the staff, I doubt I would use this place again. The facilities are a little dated, and they appeared to be short staffed, certainly in the bar areas.

I chose this hotel due to the location for The Ricoh and I thought Britannia Hotels had a certain standard. The Hotel had parking a short walk from reception and our room was basic but clean. We asked for food on arrival but informed food was not served until 6.30. So we went to a pub the Old Shepherd 20 minute walk away After our evening out we returned to the hotel at approx 11.30 pm hoping to get a drink and a snack. Nothing major ie crisps chocolate biscuits and a night cap to wind down the day. We were greeted by 2 Security men to be told the bar was closed. The guy on reception suggested we wait for breakfast. 2 Vending machines in the lobby holding choclate and cans of coca cola and sprite were both out of order The bar had people sitting in there but we were unable to be served. There was a party full of dog owners and their dogs in the function room with bar food and music but we were unable to go in or to order drinks for them to be served in the hotel area. Other groups of people were arriving expecting the same. Some ladies on a night out from Wales said they wished they had stayed out instead of coming back to end their evening. No room service. We retired to our room for coffee (which was dire) and a biscuit. No biscuits on the tray. The next morning I had a bath (no shower in room) to wash my hair but the holder for hair and body wash was empty. Only 2 small hand soaps. The picture on their advertising states Britannia hotels toiletries supplied' As I was only staying one night with a small bag I didnt take my own. Big mistake. On the subject of dogs. I have a serious allergy to dogs and people in rooms around us had dogs staying there with them. the hotel and gardens were full of them. Just a pointer to any allergy sufferers. Please check before hand. Because of this we didnt stay for breakfast.

I stayed there last night at our annual "old soldiers" reunion. I haven't changed my opinion since my last review. My room, 360 was clean and well looked after, but I do think calling it an "executive double" is just a tad OTT. :) The Royal Court is a nice hotel and the staff, particularly in reception are fantastic, one of the young receptionists sorted out the WiFi on my phone when it kept playing games, she was so efficient and friendly I wish I'd got her name so I could give her a personal recommend. The bar areas and restaurants/meeting areas are all good and excellently laid out. Both times I've stayed there the hotel has been very busy, it seems to be very popular. This time it was an eclectic mix of French Bulldog owners (there was a French bulldog show at the hotel), a hen night party, and us, a bunch of old sweats. A bit of a strange mix, but it worked. I like this hotel and I'll happily go back next year. 2 moans. The shower (over the bath) is a nightmare to get into, I'll post some photos. Who ever thought it up must be demented, having both a splash screen and taps in the middle of the bath makes it impossible to get into. I'm 70 but still pretty nimble, this bath made me feel almost disabled. The breakfast plates are tiny, I get that they're hoping you won't eat too much from the buffet, but it doesn't work. We'll not with the bunch I hang out with, it just means we have to go and refill our plates more often ;) All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
