Excellent stay whilst going to a concert. Couldn’ Have been better. Could have done with a little more variety on the menu but there was one suitable dish. Only 5 minutes walk from Symphony Hall. Ideal situation

The reception and dining area was ok, typical budget hotel style but looked new and fresh however the bedrooms were in dire need of refurbishment and modernising. The bathroom was disgusting and had a strong smell of drains. The separate toilet cubicle was dirty and old The facilities in the room were lacking. The bedroom felt dirty and in need of decoration and replacement of carpet etc. Room was very noisy from the street even though we were at the back of the hotel.

For a one night, it was okay. Staff They were polite and okay. Not overly attentive at breakfast though. Too busy chatting in the corner. Breakfast Some healthy options. Typical chain hotel offering. Room I asked for a room which was quiet as the hotel is on a busy road. They put me in a room facing the road and next to the lift. I could hear noises all night. Towels were very very worn out. Bring your own. Shower didn't look clean. Saw a hair or two lurking in the cubicle. Toilet is separate to rest of the bathroom. Bit odd and old fashioned considering it looked as though it had been modernised in the last 5 years. Good tv and choice of channels. Hair dryer present in the room. Room was a big space which was great.

Booked a last minute deal here for a Friends Birthday celebrations. Absolutely lovely Staff who can't do enough for you. Gorgeous clean modern rooms and very spacious. We will definitely return here :-)

Stayed here for 4 days during September for business. Didn't try the restaurant so can't comment. Room was nice and big, comfortable, a little noisy during the night but nothing ear plugs won't fix. I was on the top floor, no problems with that. Used the gym every morning, very quite. 3 treadmills, 1 bike, 1 multi gym, some dumbbells and sauna and steam room. Well equipped gym, but the sauna and steam room were not turned on, even after asking the staff. There were computers in the lobby which could be used by guests as well as tablets for the children to play on. Good central location General good stay and will be staying here again for business trips.

I stayed here for one night for a conference. The room was very comfortable, check in was efficient and it was 5 mins walk from the ICC. Checked out very quickly the next day and realised after I had got back to London that I had left my washbag in the bathroom. I rang the hotel, as it was about 11pm I was told that they would check with housekeeping and call me back the next day. I had a message early in the morning from Clare to say they had it. When I spoke to Clare and explained I had a colleague staying in a neighbouring hotel who could bring it back to me. She offered to take it there herself and did so the same day. I was very impressed by this spontaneous act of human generosity in this world where hotels and companies often find themselves unable to act outside the box. I really appreciate it Clare and hope your managers realise they have someone who is willing to go the extra mile. Thank you!

Very, very noisy! People shouting in corridors, doors slamming till 3.20am..... Then someone shouting and banging on a neighbours room door at 6.30am as they were late for departing. Not the best when you have a stressful day ahead. Complained the next morning- reception staff apologised. Compounded by the worst restaurant service I have ever experienced - either in UK or abroad. Had to ask three times over 25mins before anyone would take my order -only 7 other people in restaurant, so the 3 staff were hardly run off their feet, but clearly needed to network more than to look after their customers. My red Thai curry then took a further 20 mins to arrive, tasted very mediocre.....small amount of chicken and the sauce was the consistency of milk, served with what tasted like microwaved rice. Hardly the 'fragrant jasmine rice with.....' My room number was taken with the order, but when I tried to leave I was loudly summoned back to the bar and commanded to pay before leaving. I pointed out that they taken my room number, but the waitperson insisted I had to pay immediately......then told me to wait while she served other guests with drinks. After about 10 mins of waiting I suggested that she either take my money or add it to my bill. I was rudely told that I had to wait my turn as she was serving others. I pointed that they had come after me.., to which she shrugged and carried on. A further 5 mins later my money was taken, no apology - just surly. Have fed back to the company who booked me in. Never wish to stay there again. Sad, as good location and nice room,

I attended this venue for a meeting but was a little disappointed. The receptionist was lovely but unfortunately they did not provide any notepads or pens. The notepads had to be requested and they did not have any pens either, pencils were issued!!! The participants of the meeting were unable to use the coffee machine as it had not been filled (this was after 8.45am) . We were told beverages would be available from 9am. There were signs stating that the tea, coffee and pastries cups on the table were for a meeting ....but the guests of the hotel overlooked this and proceeded to partake. when l explained that this was for a meeting the guest responded that they had already added sugar to the drink and l replied that he could by all means have it, he did not want it. I removed a pastry tray from a far table and brought it closer to me and my colleague stood by the tables. The staff member explained that, that was the reason why they had not put out the beverages earlier as they knew that the guests would believe that this was complimentary. Our meeting was okay until just before lunch when l went to make an enquiry and l was asked if everything was ok whereby l replied yes only to be told that the lunch would be delayed by 15 minutes. I'm not sure when l would have been informed of the delay, but then the staff were hoovering the restaurant!!! While l was having my lunch lt came to my attention that guests were also partaking of our dinner, when l spoke to the Restaurant Manager he replied that the same meal was offered to both guests and meeting attendees....How could this be we had paid for 2 groups l'm sure that we should not also be paying for other guests of the hotel. Thank goodness no one else came in. To say l was not impressed is an understatement. I doubt very much that we will be using this venue again. One good point was the Receptionist who was a little overwhelmed but l found was very helpful.

The hotel situation is ideal for visiting Central Birmingham. The rooms, décor and cleanliness were good. The service in the restaurant was poor. We waited 35 minutes for a burger! There were insufficient staff on early (as we were going to a concert), so even although we were one of only a few in the restaurant, the waitress was trying to do three jobs at once, including the bar. The receptionist was excellent, although she appeared to be on morning and night shifts throughout the weekend. The Parking facility under the hotel was also good. One of the lifts was out of action and we had to wait a long tome for the other one, particularly in the morning. The restaurant at breakfast was very busy, and again there did not seem to be enough personnel. There was no-one checking room numbers, so although we had paid in advance, it seemed that others were not being charged at all! I would return to this hotel, for its convenience, but there should be some attention to staffing.

I was attending a conference at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in central Birmingham. The Novotel is less than 5 minutes walk, on one of the main roads for nightlife / restaurants. The hotel was fine. Breakfast was fine - nothing fancy, but absolutely fine. My room was good, and it was quiet - no noise from the aforementioned nightlife!
