Friendly staff, nice and clean, with a good spacious bedroom. Separate bathroom and loo. unusual I know! Good buffet style breakfast. Underground car park at £15.00 for 24 hours seemed pricey, and the spaces were very tight, even for my little car! If you are parking a Bentley I would look else where! The hotel is not cheap but for location and for a 4Star Hotel on par, with others in the vicinity. Its location is good, Broad Street has a wide selection of bars and restaurants and is a short walk to the canal and all the bars and eateries. Really close to the New Library, which is stunning from the outside and amazing inside, well worth a visit. The walk to the Bullring and main shops takes about 1/4 hr but is much the same as any other high street. Birmingham has some of the friendliest people and nicest pubs, lovely buildings and well worth a visit.
I had the worst experience in my 12 years of training/event management with Novotel Birmingham. My colleague booked the room for seven people in a classroom setting for four days. I reached the place and it was in boardroom setting with four glasses on the table. When I told Eleesha (coordinator), she dealt with me very rudely and argued with me in front of my guests that we have booked for four people and we never requested classroom setting. She refused to believe me when I told her that we have the confirmation email. I had to show her email, and without any apology she said we cannot do anything about it. I told her that I could not conduct the training in a boardroom setting and she kept on arguing that it will take her an hour to set up the room. Reluctantly she agreed to change the setting. Not even a single day we were served tea/coffee automatically. I had to call them each time to serve tea/coffee which was more expensive than Starbucks. Almost every hotel serves cookies or snacks with the serving, but they had no such thing until last day when we got cheap cookies. The meeting room was shabby. One of the lights kept on flickering, and we almost felt like the room was haunted. The meeting room was on 6th floor which was an old bedroom turned into a meeting room. Even the name of the company on the door was spelled wrong. Rude event staff and average food. Not recommended at all. Stay away!!
7 of us squashed into a meeting room which in reality was a converted bedroom. Kept having to phone down for tea/coffee to be delivered, only on the last day inthe afternoon did we get any biscuits and they were cheap ones. Room wasnt set up for the start of the course and we were sent back down to reception to wait 20+ mins while they took out a board room type table and replaced with 5 small tables. Then we had to wait for extension leads as we were on a computer course and needed to plug in laptops. Each day we were issued with a room card which you needed to activate the lift and get into the room - each day we all had to keep going back to reception to get the cards reactiviated during the day, why we could have cards that worked for the week I dont know. Food was average, not very hot and to say veg was aldente was an understatement. I will think twice before I attend a course at this venue in the future.
Have stayed here 3 tines now and the hotel is always warm and welcoming, staff are really friendly and helpful check in and check out are easy and secure car park onsite which is really easy. Hotel has a bar and a restaurant which seem good but we used O’Neills over the road which is one of the best pubs I have ever been to .
Novotel Lift broke down, and the engineer didn't turn up for 2 hours. We had to force open the lift doors ourselves to allow air to come into the lift. I will be escalating the matter, but the professionalism of the manager (03/02/18) was shocking to say the least. He did nothing to diffuse the situation, and I WILL NOT be staying at another Novotel again (Business or Pleasure)
Stayed for one night for my birthday and the location was perfect! could walk across straight onto Broadstreet and it wasn’t too loud either. really nice staff, didn’t have chance too go to any of the other facilities but is a really nice hotel.
I wasn't recently in any Novotel, I just have beautiful memories from the one in Prague when I was a teenager, really long long time ago... Nevertheless, the experience here was rather average in any sense. I can't share anything specifically wrong or underline any feature so different and positive. It wasn't a cheap stay yet comparing to others in this mid-central area of Birmingham, it was a fine choice, especially for our business purpose, meaning that we just need place to sleep and have a solid breakfast. Desk service was quite useful and they gave us for free adapters for UK currency which I have at home but always forget to bring. Quite different than the Citi Hotel in Dublin where I had to buy one.
Everything about our stay was very satisfactory but was let down by poor bar service. In summary they forgot our food order but the barman was surly and unapologetic. No excuse because the bar and restaurant were not busy (unlike every other bar on Broad Street on a Friday night).
Stayed here for the first night of the Strictly tour. Perfectly situated for all the restaurants and a stones throw from the arena. The concierge was very informative about the area and where we should go visit next time we go back. Fantastic location, we’ll definitely be back.
The hotel is close walking distance to the indoor arena and has an underground car park. The hotel is easily reachable and close to the restaurants and bars of the city center canal area. Breakfast was quite OK. Had some small trouble with the mixer of the shower so that water was tepid but staff handled this well.
