I stayed here with my husband and two teenage children we had interconnecting rooms which were quite spacious and comfortable we decided to have dinner at the restaurant The service was appalling and the food was mediocre, I would stay here again but would not eat at the restaurant. Also the parking is expensive £15.00 per 24 hours
Efficient check in with friendly staff. Room was clean and spacious and bed comfy. Bar was well stocked and again friendly staff. Breakfast was buffet style and whilst being well stocked could have been a bit warmer. Again great staff.
Had an overnight stay here recently, and was very impressed. From entering the hotel, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. He made an effort to allocate a good room, gave an upgrade which was very good of him. The room was modern, clean, airy and quite spacious, have certainly had a lot worse in birmingham! Location is good, mainly as its so close to Brindley place and the mailbox, although if you're up for it then all the bars of broad street are also on the doorstep! That said, once inside it didn't feel like we were staying on such a busy boisterous road! Didn't eat or drink here, there's simply no need with the choices at your fingertips. Well worth a stay, not had such engaging welcoming staff in a long time!
At first glance I was like oh god this won't be anything special but appearances are deceiving. The location is amazing to begin and once I walked in the door I knew I had made a judgement too soon ! Modern lobby , extremely accommodating staff and spacious room. Would defo stay there if returning to brum
Dependable city centre hotel for a quiet night. Hotel is functional and compared to its new neighbours not as brash or as large. Depending on what you are after, it is also showing its age. Corridors a bit worn, but rooms spacious, comfortable and spotless. Executive rooms have the toilet set apart from the bathroom which is unusual and I assume a Gallic touch. Check in was efficient and friendly. Not much choice of food or atmosphere in the bar and restaurant, so probably not a place for a special dinner, but breakfast was fine.
This was our forth visit to the Birmingham Novotel. We had pre-booked and paid for our two night [Thursday to Saturday] stay. We had booked a double room with a separate shower as my wife has some mobility difficulties. The underground car park has a difficult access as the ramp down is curved. The consequence is that the last time we visited I scraped the front of the car on the raised kerb. This time my wife walked down the ramp first directing me but even then she had to take the ticket from the machine for my car was too far away! The car park is secure and very convenient but it is also expensive to park for a day, £15. When we registered we were told that the accessible shower room we had been allocated had been booked for the week! However we were upgraded and provided with a room which was fitted with a bath and a separate shower. Prior to our visit we had requested that our bed be fitted with sheets and blankets rather than a duvet. We both like a cool bedroom. The difficulties in having to change our room resulted in our request failing to be transferred to our ‘new’ room. This we did not realise until bedtime! We did have a drink in the bar on both evenings of our visit. We were the only people there! There was no change in the bar and when I offered a £20 note in payment I received a £10 amongst my change, for drinks which cost over £10. It was corrected at my insistence! Breakfast was the best part of our stay. It is a buffet for all parts of the meal but however on our first morning the hot food was just ‘lukewarm.’ The Saturday morning was a lot better in every way and we suspect that this was due to the influence of the ‘head’ waitress Julett, who is very welcoming and efficient. Julett remembered us from our previous visits the last of which was over 2 years ago. Remarkable. We will stay again just because of the convenience of this basic hotel to the centre of Birmingham and our son.
The Novotel is very conveniently situated for the ICC and Symphony Hall and close to the vibrant Gas Street basin and impressively redeveloped Brindleyplace. A major plus point is the underground car park, which while costing £15 per day had spaces when we arrived and was worth it for the convenience. Reception is modern, informal and efficient. My room was clean, everything worked but it was rather plain and dull compared to other four star hotels I have used. My room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The WC was in a separate, tiny, room to the bath, basin and shower. The self-service breakfast buffet was efficiently organised and servers were on hand to bring tea or coffee quickly (a bugbear of mine!). Overall, the Novotel is well-located, and well-run, doing a good job of providing a good night's sleep. However, the decor and furnishings don't do anything to give the place a wow factor (compared to say the Pullman in Liverpool, I visited recently). I couldn't imagine anyone choosing the Novotel as their first choice but it's a very acceptable alternative if you can't get your first choice.
I have stayed here three times. It is good and staff are friendly. The rooms are a little old and not as well laid out as one would expect. The executive rooms I have had have had separate toilet to the bathroom and no sink in the toilet room. Food is ok but nothing to get excited about. I have stayed in much better Novotels in other cities.
Great location for the ICC and Broad Street area. It is a little dated but good value for money. It does have an underground car park but it's very tight if you have a large car. Breakfast buffet was ok and room was comfortable enough
This hotel is 5 min walk from ICC conference centre. The lobby and dining area appear modern bright and clean. Breakfast is good. The rooms are rather dated, functional. Irritating slow drainage from sink and a bit of a drain smell. Could do with some updating. However reasonably priced for location at £85 B&B
