Shame it’s wasn’t as good as before

Toilets by the restaurant were not clean and had no handwash, this was the same the next morning even after alerting the reception staff. We stayed 2 nights and both nights we had to call reception to ask them to get the next door people to turn their music off in the early hours. We also had to argue with the house keeping to get more towels and water as the room was set up for 2 people but we had booked for 3 people.

Rude manager

Hotel was lovely and most of the staff were helpful and friendly. Room was clean and had what was needed with the exception of the TV which was broken when we arrived. The TV had no picture so we called reception straight away. They sent someone after over half an hour wait who didnt look at it, said we could move rooms or wait until maintenence came the following day to fix or replace it. We went out the following morning but when we got back, no-one had even been to look at it. I rang reception again and they apologised and said they would speak to the manager and ring me back. After waiting for an hour, we were ready to go out so went to reception and asked again about the TV. The manager was called who straight away went on the defensive claiming he had called the room twice and we hadn't answered. He was rude and defensive and said the TV couldnt be fixed or replaced (no one had even looked at it to try) and the only choice was to move rooms. We only had one night left so didnt want to move. If we had been told in the first place that they wouldnt even bother to try and fix or replace the TV, we would have moved the day before. The manager's rudeness spoiled our stay

Reasonable option near canal basin

Reasonable chain hotel in Birmingham's historic canal/party district (take your pick). On-site parking was convenient but pricey. Clean rooms. Simple breakfast options but crowded, chaotic dining room. OK for a stay near central Birmingham.

Would definitely return although was a bit of an issue with my booking. Such a lovely hotel in a very busy street. I was very impressed with the standards at this hotel, the rooms are super nice and also very clean. Don't be put off by the location. Felt safe as there was check in security at the entrance. The only down side was the breakfast not much was left maybe we went down a bit late

Poor House Keeping

Normally cant fault this hotel so i was surprised by how many thi gs can go wrong when it starts to go wrong. On site restuant refused to honour 20% discount voucher given when i checked in ? In the room all the soap dispenser were empty. I had a very distrubed sleep due rooms above and either side and the hall way.To make this worse house keeping woke.me.up at 8am wanting to clean my room ???? I discussed this with the receptionist and a very fake sorry was given. Breakfast wasnt any better half of the area closed and no clean tables available. Whe. I finally got seated i had to go hunting for mug for coffee. Asked staff twice the sent me to the bus boy and he eventually grabbed a one from a used table. This is Normally my go to hotel in Birmingham but this stay may well make.me think again.

Good place but horrible experience

Everything about the place and stay was good, but the one big issue thag ruined our stay is the scheduled power cut which was raised to our attention way too late as if we were aware of this days prior to turning up, I would have cancelled or rescheduled, but since I was there already I had no choice and had to stay the nights I paid for with one of the days being completely ruined.
