My wife and I stayed here last night to allow us an early start for an exhibition at the NEC. We picked it because it was so close to the NEC. However, our room was too hot for our liking, so we slept with the window open. This turned out to be a mistake as the A45 ran right past the window and the airport runway is the other side of the road. This is not the fault of the hotel, but it would have helped if the aircon could be turned down below 20°C. I personally found the mattress hurt my back and caused my wife and I to roll together. The restaurant is badged as a Pierre White one, but by the train me we arrived it was fully booked. The bar food was quite good, if pretentiously presented on a piece of slate. Breakfast was very good, but they ran out of white bread for toast before 9am. Most useful was the free shuttle bus between the International Railway station and hotel. Overall the service we received was very good, but I think we made a mistake on the location.
I stay here often over a year and the service is always is always of a high standard and you get treated as an individual than just a guest, the food is of again a high standard from the bar or the restaurant, hence why I keep coming back. Will recommend a stay here.
Great welcoming, with helpful friendly team. Spacious bedrooms great quality food for breakfast and dinner. Will be back with the family Thank you for a wonderful stay and for the amazing gulab jamun welcome delights
I regularly stay at this hotel by choice, the staff are very friendly and welcoming on reception and the bar staff always have a smile, Marcos restaurant staff are always on top form too. Myself and my colleagues are always greeted with a smile by Fozia, Jason, Conner and all the other management and also take time to have a chat with us ! Rooms are comfy and clean food is great ! Not much more you can ask for at a holiday inn !
Good food & drinks, starters & main served nice & hot just the way it should be. Service was brilliant served by Mahad he really looked after the group. Rooms are a good size & clean,I would definitely recommend this hotel. Will visit again thanks
Stayed here about 6 months ago and again last week lovely clean and very attentive staff from the start. Extremely helpful lady on reception ( Charlotte ) after a terrible journey she immediately put me at ease and looked after my stay from start to finish makes a change to come to a hotel where you are greeted with a smile and pleasant manor very rare these days gem. All the staff throughout are good and rooms lovely and clean and quiet where I was. will definitely be back its a little further for me but worth it.
The room I stayed in was very clean and spacious, the restaurants staff were very attentive and polite, the service all round was impressive even at the bar which could get busy. Staff on reception were extremely professional and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Overall an enjoyable stay. Many thanks.
Checked in here Saturday night on business. Good car park and modern public areas. That's about a good as it gets. My troubles started shortly after I checked in. When I entered my bedroom I was greeted by a gentleman watching TV on the bed! They had only put me in an already occupied room. Total Incompetence by the barely trained receptionist. By way of apology the General manager offered me a couple of complimentary drinks vouchers and checked me into another room. At this point I also requested a 7am alarm call. The room itself was tired and had a stale odour. The bed was pretty uncomfortable with four lumpy polyester filled pillows and the bathroom was pretty small with a dirty shower curtain and mouldy shower head. On of the bath towels had yellow stains on it. There was also constant noise throughout the night, primarily from travellers coming and going. Just before I turned in for the night I rang reception again to confirm my alarm call for 7pm. I chose to eat in the hotel restaurant. The prices were a little steep in my opinion, but the chicken caesar salad I had was fine. The Eton mess however was poor. All cream and no meringue. I sent it back. A large glass of Pinot Noir was £7 but was half decent. Needless to say I never received my alarm call but luckily always have my phone as back up to wake me up. A good job I did not have a flight or I could well have missed it if I had to rely on the staff at this hotel! Breakfast was ok, basic but the croissants were fresh and there was the usual hot breakfast buffet. Is this a good example of a well run well managed Holiday Inn? Simply put, No. Could it be much better? Definitely Are there better hotels for £90 per night b&b , Definitely. Would I stay here again ? Not if I could avoid it.
Stayed here for one night before an early flight from Birmingham Airport. The hotel's fairly easy to get to - I'd got the train to Birmingham International and got a taxi from the station to the hotel (cost about £8 I think). There is a free shuttle bus that you can take too. Check-in was fairly quick and I was given a room downstairs. The staff were really helpful - I'd realised I'd forgotten a toothbrush so was able to get a free disposable one from reception. The room was a good size, with a king size bed, arm chair, desk and chair, small TV, tea & coffee making facilities and wardrobe. The room was spotless and the bed was comfy so I slept well. It was a stuffy night, so I had the window open - the road next to the hotel is a bit busy, but I had ear plugs in so didn't hear much. The ensuite was small but fine - the shower had plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The free wifi had good signal and was fast enough for streaming. Didn't opt for breakfast so I can't comment on this - the restaurant looked fairly busy in the morning & evening when I was there. I used the free hotel shuttle to the airport itself the next morning - this was on time and the driver was very helpful. Overall, it was a good stay for a short time.
When we arrived we couldn't park on site because we were told there was a wedding on at the hotel. We thought it strange that an airport hotel catering for travelers would take wedding bookings for a Monday night! We just presumed that a competent management team would segregate the travelling guests from the partying guests. Travelling guests just want a good night's sleep, partying guests want to stay up late, drink a lot and make a noise. We had to be out of the hotel before 5.00am so anticipated getting 5 or 6 hours sleep.During the evening and early hours of the following morning we were kept awake by children running along the corridors and adults talking loudly and banging doors. Finally it quietened down at around 2.00am and we tried to get some sleep until the fire alarms went off at 2.30am and again at 3.15am. At that point we gave up, dressed and went up to reception. We had a letter of apology telling us that the fire alarms were set off maliciously. We left the hotel early and when we returned from our holiday we wrote to the manager requesting that the cost of our overnight accommodation be refunded. After two letters, he would not agree to any refund, but offered us a cheaper rate to stay at the same hotel again (first prize 1 night ....second prize 2 nights). If you want somewhere to stay for an early flight from Birmingham Airport, I would advise you to check that there isn't a wedding booked for the night you are staying.
